Madam Ling’s eyes were wide in bewilderment upon hearing Fu Beichen's words.

"The Gu family and the Ling family only have business dealings. The reason that the Gu family is able to attend today is because of our joint venture in a drama shooting later on. This is nothing compared to the relationship between the Ling family and the Fu family. Both of our families have been friends for years." She was somewhat right, for the Ling and Fu families really had been friends for years.

Fu Beichen made his way to the front of the sofa and looked at Gu Nanyu condescendingly.
“Madam Ling, you’re right to say that the Ling and Fu families have been friends for years." Fu Beichen parted his lips. With those words, his lips slightly raised, which somehow made Gu Nanyu shudder.

"But, the Fu family and the Gu family are in-laws," Fu Beichen continued.
Gu Nanyu, on the other hand, was drinking water while waiting for his dirty tricks. She immediately choked on her drink when she heard Fu Beichen’s last sentence.
After a coughing spell, Gu Nanyu then gawked at Fu Beichen.

What in-laws?

Gu Nanyu was not the only one to have this in mind. The rest of them were taken aback as well.
Gu Yaxi, in particular, was surprised with her mouth agape.
The Gu family and the Fu family are in-laws?
Why didn’t Dad and Mom mention this before?
Nevertheless, Gu Yaxi was on cloud nine despite her astonishment.
"Hold on. I’d like to know with whom did you marry?" Staring at Fu Beichen, Gu Nanyu was extremely perplexed.
Could it be possible that Fu Beichen has taken a fancy to one of the Gu family members again? And so he wants to get married?
Instead of answering her, Fu Beichen merely threw Gu Nanyu a flat look.
It was then that the personal assistant beside Fu Beichen spoke, "18 years ago, Miss Fu Xingchen had a dispute with Old Minister and she ran away from home. She was later married to the eldest son of the Gu family. Our minister only knew about this a few days ago.”
Gu Nanyu heard him out before starting to ponder over his explanation.
The eldest daughter of the Fu family was Fu Beichen's sister.
His sister ran away from home and then married the eldest son of the Gu family. That’s why Fu Beichen said that the Fu family and the Gu family are in-laws.

Pointing at Fu Beichen, her heart was now in turmoil. The calm look on her face was long gone, even her fingers were shaking slightly.

Fu Beichen looked at the way Gu Nanyu reacted, and the corner of his lips lifted a little.
"I said, I am your uncle."
Fu Bei Chen was tongue-tied. Holy sh*t! I’m your f*cking uncle!
