《The Battlemage [FINISHED]》A Second Chance - Chapter 1

After years of training in the arts of magic, Doccor hit the age of 60. He was stumped. He couldn't get any farther in life as his body was old and unexercised. This was due to his arrogance.
Doccor believed magic could do anything and everything. He never spent a moment to exercise his body and was now too old to. In this world, it was the strong who held the hierarchy. In battle, Doccor couldn't do anything as soon as his enemy was in close range.
Doccor lay on the ground bleeding, rethinking his life. His enemy got too close and destroyed Doccor. He regret everything. Training only his magic, never his body.
'Thinking about them will do nothing to change it. Better to embrace death than regret.' Doccor soon passed away forever. At least his body did.
Doccor awoke to find himself in a cave. Next to him was a crystal blue lake. On the other, the exit.
'How did I get here?' Doccor looked down at his body only to find it was not his. Doccor, trained in the arts of all magic could guess that his soul survived and transferred to a vacant body. Although a soul transfer wasn't tried, it wasn't impossible. Doccor was grateful for this.
Putting it at that, Doccor stood up to have a good look around. While taking a tour, he noticed something off about his memories. He had claimed the owner of the bodies memories.
After brushing through the memories, Doccor gained a large amount of insight on this world. It wasn't his own. The major difference was that there were monsters who inhabited this world. The ones that Doccor had seen in the books he used to read in his freetime. These monsters ranged from goblins to dragons. There were also gods, but that was out of Doccor's league.

Once settled, Doccor sat down next to the lake. It was cool and refreshing. He then checked his status which was a thing in this world.
Name: Doccor Dales | Age: 14 | Race: Human | Class: (None) | LVL: 3
HP: 78/112 | MP: 30/30
STR: 4 | VIT: 23 | AGI: 7 | INT: 3 | WIS: 6
Skills
Pain Resistance Intermediate Level 4
Poison Resistance Beginner Level 2
Titles
Wanderer
Stat Points: 15
'Compared to all those pathetic stats, vitality is quite high with pain resistance.' Doccor knew from the memories that the owner of this body was a slave. He was treated very horribly.
Doccor took of his tattered shirt and felt his chest. There were scars all over. You could almost see the ribs as well.
Doccor crossed his legs and closed his eyes. This was a trick he learned back then. He sensed the mana lingering in the air around him and willed it to gather in his body.
Although hard at first with this weak body, he managed. A small portion of the mana in the air entered his body and Doccor spread it to his vital organs. This would rejuvenate him the same way eating would do therefore he wouldn't have to eat or drink.
Although taking away the need for sleep was possible, he didn't have enough power in his current state. That would come at a later date.
Mana Absorption Beginner Level 1
You have successfully gathered the mana around you and absorbed it. A task said as easy for many but hard to succeed.
(Permanent +10 INT | +10 WIS)
'First things first, I must sleep. This body is worn out.' Doccor lay on the floor of the cave and drifted away to sleep.
He would not waste this second chance.

After the End: Serenity
We all want to believe we are heroes of our own story - unless we want to be the villain, of course. At the end of everything, the Final Reaper decided he hadn’t been a hero. Driven by a desire to right the wrongs he was subjected to, he killed everyone who wronged him or his people - which turned out to be everyone that wasn’t killed by someone else first. He'd won - but it was a hollow victory. Eventually, Order’s Voice found a way out. If the only existing being would agree to give up most of his power, the Voice could reset the multiverse to an earlier time with a few minor changes. Of course, the Voice couldn't ask it that way. It could only ask if the Final Reaper was willing to start over from when Earth was first brought into Order. It was an easy decision, and yet it wasn’t. Was he willing to go through eons of pain again to not be alone? Yes. In a heartbeat. Not that his heart beat anymore. Now it would. Perhaps he could even be a hero, this time. When he landed in his old body - more or less - on Earth, the Final Reaper once again became Thomas. He was both and neither. He needed a new name for a new life. Serenity. ------------------------------------------ While this is technically a System Apocalypse story, it's a System Apocalypse that is designed to have a large percentage of the population survive and prosper. There are a lot of problems that come with the appearance of the Voice, and it's entirely possible to lose. Earth has some special opportunities, but also special challenges. The first time around, Earth won the first round and lost the second. Serenity has ten years from when the Voice arrives to prevent that from happening. It will be a group effort; Serenity can't win alone - which is difficult for someone who's been alone for as long as he has. Of course, that's only his second priority. ------------------------------------------- Updates Daily A note on the nonhuman lead tag: He isn't human, and hasn't been human for a very, very long time (or maybe not long at all, depending on how you count it). He still thinks of himself as human, either way. The content warnings are mostly to give me room to write; this fiction is not intended to be edgy, but once in a while a character will swear or someone will get seriously injured. The cover image is a Chandra/Hubble composite image of VV 340 / Arp 302 / UGC 9618. While we're not going to space itself any time soon in the story, people from elsewhere are coming to Earth and Serenity will visit other planets. Plus, I like space imagery. Chasing the Hurricane
There was once an Empire that stood here. The Clawscar Empire. For centuries they were the dominating power of the lands of the west. However, during the reign of Emperor Rahl, the people of the Empire became complacent and lazy, giving themselves to debauchery and degeneracy, ignoring the problems the nation faced. As time passed, the land started to die, relationships with other nations worsened, and Clawscar was slowly becoming a miserable place to live. However, one night, suddenly, the old, rotting order was swept away by a mysterious storm that left as quickly as it came. The people who lived to see it called it the Ghost Hurricane. Years have passed since the hurricane's rampage. Now, a young man prepares to make his trek across the Empire's Corpse, hoping to learn the truth of things... Note: Has nothing to do with the ongoing Magic Knight Saga, also written by me.
