《Smoking Bandits》SB3.3 - The Man and The Orc

On the cliff edge, 20 meters to the right of Triple Waterfall, Terre smiled from ear to ear while watching his prey. A young man and an Orc roasting the hind legs of a deer for breakfast.
Since yesterday morning Terre and his team were following the young man. He had lost track of several times, and almost gave up after arriving at the outer limit of Skirmish Radius.
However, just before sunrise he and his companions saw a bonfire in the distance. When he checked it, who would have thought that his target was sitting with an Orc in front of the bonfire.
A strange sight, considering that not far from their position there were three corpses of Orcs that were killed by arrows. Moreover, an MP9 perched on the right thigh of the Orc who was sitting in front of the young man.
But Terre didn't want to think any further. Still smiling, he turned towards Vivian who was lying beside him. "Is he the young man who gave you the gold bar?"
"Yeah."
Seeing Vivian nod, one of Terre's comrades immediately said, "Wait till we circle their position."
"Sure."
Terre's three comrades immediately crawl backward before disappearing behind the tree line. At the same time, Terre set up the telescope on top of his G3S.
Sun is behind his position, the distance to the target was 190 meters, and the wind was dead. High angle shooting does need more calculations. However, with a 20-inch G3S, even a semi-competent shooter won't miss in these conditions.
Once the telescope was set, Terre only had to wait for his three companions to be in position.
"Vivian, I'm sorry I'm angry when you lose track of our target."
"Mhm."
"If my guess is right, our target this time will make us rich. So we can stop being hunters and I will open a pub in Alba City."

"Okay."
Vivian obediently nodded, and Terre instantly smiled upon seeing it.

All night long Lark and Stanic wished the Orcs patrol team would visit. However, until the sun rose their hopes were not fulfilled.
So the two of them decided to have breakfast. After that, they will visit the nearest Goblin's lair on the way home.
While Lark was making breakfast and ginger coffee, Stanic was busy pouring his knowledge of the terrain in Skirmish and Expedition Radius onto Lark's map.
Then, without warning blood suddenly spurted out from Stanic's left shoulder as he was sipping the ginger coffee. Followed by a very loud 'Bang!' in the air.
"Top of Triple Waterfall!"
Lark shouted before running into the water. Meanwhile, Stanic ran to the two boulders as big as a buffalo which were stuck to each other. Then, he lay behind them.
Not long after that, three men armed with 16-inches barrels G3K walked out from behind the tree line.
One ran to the edge of the pool and climbed over the rock to find Lark's location. While the other two approached Stanic's position with their G3K pointed forward.
"Orc, come out and we'll give you instant death," one of Terre's comrades said before chuckling.
And his colleague added, "We're not lying. We don't have time to torture you. So don't irritate us."
Although Terre's two comrades sounded carefree, their gazes were as sharp as daggers. With great vigilance, the two of them approached Stanic's position from the side.
Until finally, an object flew up from behind the rock and fell exactly a few steps in front of them.
Baam!
Deadly fragments from an HF grenade instantly rained down Terre's two comrades. The two of them then collapsed to the ground and didn't move anymore, while blood poured out from the hundreds of cuts on their bodies.

Terre's comrades had no idea that the Orc they were hunting would know the prime tactic, which is to release the grenade's safety lever silently, then wait two seconds before throwing it. That way, the grenade will instantly explode when it arrives in front of the target.
Duar Du-Du-Duar!!
Realizing that his two comrades had been killed, Terre's comrade who was looking for Lark's location immediately rained down Stanic's position, then taking cover behind a rock.
"Orc bastard! Wait till I cut your body apart."
Terre's last colleague cursed loudly, but no reply was heard.

Terre could only curse when his two comrades were killed. Meanwhile, the Orc that he failed to kill in the first shot took cover behind two boulders. At the same time, the main target went missing.
"Vivian, go down there and track our main target."
"Okay."
Vivian crawls back silently. But in her second step she stopped, because the hair on her nape suddenly stood.
As she looked back, her gaze met the young man Terre was looking for. He smiled kindly while his left hand gripped a silenced Glock 19.
"Hello, good morning." as Terre flabbergasted, the young man added, "Hands behind your head, fingers joined together."
Without delay Terre and Vivian carried out the young man's instructions, and for some reason the young man suddenly dropped his blood on the back of their hands.
With a trembling voice Terre said, "I have a deposit in the safe at my house. I'll give it to you as long as you let me live."
Beeb! Beeb!
Without warning, the young man executed Terre by shooting his heart twice. Instantly, Vivian closed her eyes while her heart was beating fast.
"Calm down, I won't kill you." The young man then casually grabbed the G3S, then knelt and aimed for Terre's last comrade.
After making a few adjustments, he then squeezed the tip of the trigger gently.
Bang!
The 7.62 mm projectile hit the head of Terre's comrade, then pierced out carrying fragments of the skull and brain. Terre's last comrades instantly collapsed to the ground, with his head now turning like a flat tire.
Nervously, Vivian looked at the young man who was humming and putting the G3S on his shoulder, then collecting the spoils from Terre's body.
"Kid, we'd better hurry before the Orc army swarms this place."
For a moment Vivian was dumbfounded, then she ran after the young man who had almost arrived at the edge of the tree line.

By the time Lark and Vivian arrived under Triple Waterfall, Stanic was already clearing the campfire and gathering the loot from Terre's comrades. The wound on his shoulder was also almost healed.
"Man... What bad luck. We gotta move before breakfast." Irritated, Lark stuffed the various items Stanic had packed into Wrist Pocket.
Lark then turned to Vivian, who was looking anxiously at Stanic. "Vivian, this is Stanic. Stanic, this is Vivian."
"Mhm." Still anxiously, Vivian looked at Stanic.
Meanwhile, Stanic handed a biscuit tube to Vivian. "To help until we find a safe location for breakfast.
Vivian nervously accepted the biscuit tube. Then, with a heart full of uncertainty, she followed The Man and The Orc.

8 84A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!
