《Ordinary Transmigration》Chapter 1: Graduation in a new world.

Tiffany was bored waiting for the final graduation speech to end so that she could, with the rest of the students, awaken her talent and go to a top university, if luck permitted it.
She promised her dad to behave but the verbose speech from the dean was starting to get on her nerves.
“Hey, so who do you think will get a good skill?” Jennifer asked.
Looking at the excited airhead next to her, Tiffany smirked at her friend and said.
“Well, it is always the best looking one, the rich one and the most annoying one who get lucky. As you fall in the rich and annoying categories, you will definitely get lucky”.
The students around them tried to not laugh concentrate on the dean who was still speaking but failed to do so.
“Yeah, talking about ugly, you fit right in Tiff with your ugly scar.” Said a classmate while looking smug.
“Fuck off you fat cunt! Who was the one who was chasing and asking Tiff out for a whole year?” Jennifer snarled back.
“Don’t worry about him Jenny. Just look at his front tooth, you can clearly see that he is a half breed between a human and a donkey. I know cross-species marriage is legal but I thought it was only permitted between intelligent beings”. Said Tiffany.
Donkey face went red with rage but couldn’t say anything as the dean was looking in their direction. The dean was very mild in general but when mad, you better ensure you were not next to him.
Tiffany started to reminisce about the time she got this scar.
She wasn’t the original owner of this body. She used to be an accountant in London. Her last memory of Earth was getting drunk at a pub when her boyfriend said for the third time that he couldn’t make their appointment. She knew something was going on but she couldn’t find any proofs.
However, that night while looking outside the pub window, she saw him kissing a woman across the street. Wanting to catch the cheating scumbag, she ran out of the pub.
Being drunk and crossing a street without a care for the rest of the world is not recommended. She only saw the truck as it hit her.
The next thing she was experiencing was simply darkness. After some unknown amount of time had gone past, she started to receive the memories of a teenage girl. When she finally opened her eyes, she was told that she had awoken from a “coma” after a failed assault by a rapist. This matched the memories she received.
The previous host of this body fought back to preserve her chastity which resulted in the rapist becoming violent and smashing her head against the pavement.
A passerby heard the screams, chased the offender away and brought “Tiffany” to the closest hospital. She was pronounced “brain dead” and was in a vegetative state.
The truth was that Tiffany, which was also the previous host name, had died on the way to the hospital. Only Tiffany transmigrating into the body kept it alive. It took about two months for Tiffany to assimilate with her new body and regained consciousness.

Her family was not rich and could not afford a healer to heal her wound at the time and so she was left with scar from the top of her right eyes down to her cheek. She remembered looking in the mirror and the only flaw was that scar. She still looked pretty despite it.
Of course, she would have loved to get it removed but it wasn’t possible any longer as the injury had healed. Only a user with a high skill and high level could fix her face but they charge a pretty penny for this.
The only problem was that her scar would burn for unknown reason at irregular intervals. She was shocked the first time it occurred but as they said, man is an adaptable animal, she learned to leave with it.
Getting used to her new life was not easy. It was a complete new world. There were so many different species and subspecies living together. There was also the threat of dungeon break and imminent death but this had not happened for two centuries.
Using Earth terminology, it was a fantasy world set up in an urban background. She was happy about this. Proper bed, bathroom and shower. And most importantly, a phone with internet!
Tiffany would have preferred to transmigrate into a world with no danger, married to an overbearing CEO who would pamper and protect her so that she could live the rest of her life in total laziness, riches and pleasure.
But this didn’t happen. After two years living in this world, her mentality had changed. She was now eager to awaken a powerful skill and possibly a talent that would enable her to distinguish herself amid the sea of normies. Everyone awakened a skill. Some of them were amazing such as control over flame or ice and some were… well, knowing what the weather will be the next day doesn’t help you when you running for your life trying to escape from a pack of dire wolves.
Killing monsters in dungeons was the only way to level up and get stronger. The experience you get is evaluated by the dungeon system. After Five hundred years of governing the dungeons and giving out rewards, there was no loophole. You couldn’t just sit back and wait to give the last hit when the monster is about to die doesn’t count. Rich kids could no longer be carried.
A talent was always appreciated. A passive skill that is directly in coordination with your awakened skill. However, it was simpler to win the lottery back on Earth than awakening a talent.
Furthermore, each skills and talents were graded from G to SSS. The lottery factor in terms of skill was mostly for the human race. They had the strongest diversity in terms of individuality from one person to the next that the system deemed it should be the same for the for skills. However, some of the strongest being on this planet were human due to receiving over powered skills.
Other races had there own skills and talents. Powerful races such as dragons or behemoths could have multiple skills. Legendary dragons could have up to 20 skills and talents.

The system was fair, dragons and behemoth were strong but there species were small in numbers. The stronger you were, the harder it was to conceive.
Thousands of years ago, planet Cormeus was only populated with humans. The great cataclysm, as it is now referred to in history books, occurred. Portals suddenly opened and dungeons became the norm.
At that time, the system detected that the technology level of Cormeus was high enough and so it was encompassed in its authority. Portals connecting to all other planets under the system’s jurisdiction and dungeons filled with monsters were now the norm on Cormeus.
The humans were not familiar with the skills system and started to loose ground. Firearms were useful at first against low levels monsters but were ineffective against anyone who could create a mana shield.
For years, humanity fought against the invaders while plundering dungeons. It was difficult at first as hot weapons lost their functionality once in a dungeon. Only cold weapon or weapons made from dungeon material would work.
Gradually stronger and stronger individuals were appearing amongst the humans and the war came to a halt.
Leaders from each races met. Everyone wanted to minimise the deaths of their species.
With the help of the system, a treaty was passed and it was decided that skills could only be used in dungeons. Humans from Cormeus were also given the freedom to go to other planets. If someone violated this, they would be tracked by all races and species and hunted down. The only places that were free for all were the dungeons as if not cleared periodically, a dungeon break would occur and flood of monsters would come out on a rampage and kill indiscriminately.
It was difficult at first and a lot of discriminations and reservations were present on all sides. After thousands of years passed, we now had the present society where mix species were the norms. There were still many rivalries between guilds, clans and other groups but all those were handled in the dungeons.
Tiffany was woken up from her reverie when Jennifer elbowed her ribs to warn her that the awakening was about to start.
“We will now proceed to the awakening ceremony.” Said the dean.
Tension and excitement were present in the auditorium. The students were in all different kind of state, some were eager, others were afraid and the elites, who have high level awakened parents were brimming with confidence.
Tiffany was so eager to start and could barely wait to get on the stage. She was a transmigrator and per the law of web novels she would have her golden finger.
“Class 1, proceed to the stage and hold to the pommel. It is important that you do not let go no matter what or your skill will be affected.” Warned the dean.
Seeing people laughing and not taking his warning seriously, he added:
“This is not a joke. You’ll could have the fire control skill and because you let go due to joy you would end up with only the ability to light a cigarette.”
By now, the first class consisting of more capable and elitist student were all holding onto the device pommel. It was a simple stick with a round mana stone on top of it. Mana would be transferred to the student from it and this would cause there connection to the system. They would then be able to see their stats and skill by thinking “status” in their mind.
Tiffany and Jennifer were watching with excitement. Class 1 was mostly composed of sons and daughters of elite hunter. There were some elves, dwarfs, and even one drow in addition to the majority of humans.
Tiffany’s college was in a medium size town and the species were not much varied. Only at the capital or metropolis would you be able to see all kind of species.
Suddenly, stars made out of mana were materialising above the students’ head. Various colours started to shine from those stars. Only a small number were shining white showing a low level of skill. This indicated that the skills was G rank and was not suitable for fighting. Disappointment could be seen on the student’s parents when such colour was seen.
Above the drow’s head, the star shined in bright silver.
“Look at Alkiss. It’s an A rank skill. Oh my god.”
“Damn drow. There racial skill are always high levelled. So unfair”
“He is so hot with that dark skin and violet eyes. Maybe I have chance to be his girlfriend when I have an A rank skill as well.”
“Stop dreaming. You are so fat, not even a beastman hippo would find you attractive.”
All kind of chatter could be heard and every students started to dream about being an A rank.
The dean was beaming with joy. It was very good news that an A rank was produced from his college. He would get a reward from the government who were pushing for talents.
The last A rank that came from a low city college was twenty-six years ago.
Class 1 had the best results gotten in years, there was one A rank, one B rank and the rest varied between C and D with only a couple who received civilian skill. Civilian skills could be used in everyday life as they were not harmful.
The hope that was ignited with the fantastic result of Class 1 was crushed with the next classes. Most of them awakened a civilian skill and only one or two awakened offensive skills but were G or F rank.
Tiffany had long waited for her turn when her class was called.
