Chapter 1 - Freedom
Rumble…
“Master…? What was that…?”
“Damnit quite being to timid and go test your strength already! And quite calling me master, I haven't acknowledged you yet!”
The master and disciple stood before a large rock. It was know as the testing rock. The saying went that if your arm sinks 1 foot into the stone, you can join any sect as a disciple, but if you can make the rock ring, then all the sects will scramble to take you in.
“Here…I….GO!” With a long wind up, the disciple performs unnecessary and flashy movements before throwing a punch.
At this moment, the rock rumbled again and cracked formed and connected to where the young disciple punched.
With a look of shock, his master stared at his disciple, then the rock. The boy’s master wanted to instill discipline and patience for his future, not have him destroy the meteorite. Even if the rock’s recovery had been slowing down over the years, it's still too much.
……
The Guandao shook and tried to free itself to no avail. Alas, the blade was still wrapped in extra talismans and couldn't free itself, but the talismans were unable to move either. The Guandao had been in this dead lock for nearly 10000 years already.
Then it suddenly heard “WOW you have power, but that stiff rigid form won’t allow you to move as you’d like. You're up against a rock that can't move, so a flexible attack will give you a better advantage.”
The Guandao formed a spiritual conscious and understood. It solely scanned and took shape of a human, based on the one that shouted the advice.
……
“Okay, here goes….NOTHING!!” With even more strange and useless moves, the disciple punched again.

The stone rumbled even more. The cracks widened, and a radiant gold light shot out and pierced through the stormy clouds that hung above. As if challenging the heavens.
The master was speechless and decided that accepting this disciple would be the best choice of his life. He immediately grabbed the boy and took him away before another sect could poach him.
From within the rock, sprang out a dark haired, golden eyed, 16 year old looking kid. The boy was holding a strange toy that looked like the king of humans from the start of the Great War.
There was a ring and a string on the toy. The boy pulled it and heard “MaHa…” the boy looked shocked, then looked around , but saw no one.
“Is that my name?”
“Maha….”
“My name is Maha… who are you?”
“Maha…”
“I see, you're a clue left by my creator. Then I, Maha, will figure the way back to my creator and return this to him. Until that day, I shall store you away carefully. But first, I need to go see the old man who helped me out of the rock. Good thing I scanned him earlier and can easily track him now.”
Maha stood up and followed the trail

Nobody's Way
Foreign Thorn: Book 1 For eight centuries, the people of Isla have wanted for nothing. The Creator, Maere, uses Her power not only to keep them healthy and fed, but also to map the direction of each person's future Path - their vocation, role in society, and even the partner they'll spend their life with. In a world where infighting once threatened the very survival of humankind, the old texts say that Maere personally stepped in to help guide Her creations to harmony. All is not well among the people of the northern lands, however, as Jian discovers when she receives her own long-awaited Path. The Creator has chosen to favour some towns, but not others, leading to anarchy and unrest in the east, and fierce distrust between the neighbours who enjoy Her protection and those who don't. After many nights of disturbing premonitions, visions of a face uncannily familiar to her, and a voice beckoning her to "Homeland," Jian decides she needs to find answers for herself. She hires Madrigal, a surly young traveller hailing from an "unblessed" village, to take her to the southern lands. The swordsman is on the run from something, or someone, but Jian has no choice but to trust him. When the two leave the safety of the familiar and meet Quinn, a mysterious boy who seems to know more about Jian than she does about herself, it becomes clear that there are forces besides the old magics, forces completely unknown to the people of Isla, in play. Madrigal and Jian aren't sure if Quinn can be trusted, but they're certain he knows more than he's letting on...
