《Adam is the Protagonist》Chapter 32: Starting Off Strong

A cycle of training, eating, sleeping went on for an entire week. In this short amount of time, a few major events took place. These things had placed Bran into a state of pure chaos, even more so than before.
The first major event was the death of the strongest Underworld Envoy, he has been slain by the second one, it was unknown as to how he did it but this still set forth new precedent of a new era.
The second event was the whispering rumors of the True Underworld King finally returning back to Bran to consolidate its affairs. This rumor was even more popular than the first event since this affected the country as a whole.
The third event though unrelated to Bran was still something the people of Bran had to take note of. The seclusion of the King of Maghim, the sorcerer of the kingdom, has finally ended and with it, showing his newfound strength which was extremely terrifying.
The King of Maghim's first action as soon as he exited seclusion was immediately leaving the kingdom and going to Heira, the next country over. His objectives were unknown but people speculated it had something to do with the King Alliance.
The fourth and last event that had shaken the entirety of Bran was its current war between its northern and south counterparts. The previous small scale skirmishes have now blown up so drastically to the point that even places outside Bran's territory were being affected.
"At least most of the confidential information was taken care of."
Adam closed the last scroll on his hands and immediately conjured a flame to burn away the scrolls that he just read. The ashes that were left behind weren't ignored because by the time Adam finished burning everything a magic circle covering the entire room lit up and everything was cleaned up spotless.
"Things really have gotten tense, huh? Good thing Mira converted 23% of her body's blood vessels to magic crystals. A little more than I expected but still good enough. Eve got stuck at 30% but not really relevant since she can doesn't really need to focus on Condensation but on Exhaustion."
Adam jumped up his chair and went outside his room. The complex seal on the door went undone the moment Adam left his room.
He then went to the training ground where Mira and Eve were simply doing their daily routine. He walked up to them and called over a few servants to bring along some refreshments to ease in a conversation.
Adam, Eve and, Mira were sitting around a small table enjoying a relaxing time right after training.
Adam brought up something that came to his mind, "Hey Mira, did you enjoy meeting your friends yesterday?"
Mira got taken back that Adam asked about this, "It was pretty fun, there was nothing else that really happened in that time."
Eve then intervened, "So, when's are we leaving? You said there's something interesting that's going to show up in the war."
"Don't get too hasty, I had a craftsman make masks for both of you. It's specialized since it has the same formation as the seal I have in this place, no one will ever know your exact identity."
Adam then threw two exquisite looking masks towards both of them.
Mira naively asked, "What about you? Don't you also need a mask?"

"I have something better than that, I have my cloak. I placed an even more complex seal on this than the one in both of your masks. You could say that this cloak is worth more than half a kingdom."
When Eve and Mira heard this they were a little surprised but it was something that made perfect sense, nothing Adam has would be cheap nor useless.
"That's enough idle chatter, shall we get going?"
Eve and Mira nodded as they stood up and followed Adam behind. They walked and went forward to the teleportation gate located in the middle of the entire castle.
As soon as they entered it a slightly nauseating effect was placed on Mira and Eve since they teleported quite the distance and was not as experienced as Adam.
"Welcome! It's nice to face the True Underworld King face to face! But who's this young man and old woman? Are they perhaps your lackeys? Strange, there's no Underworld Envoy that looks like them."
A giant burly man covered in animal fur clothing with a gigantic ax behind his back wildly looking down at them from his stature. The surrounding area was exactly what one would expect from the stronghold in the middle of a war.
There were corpses all over the place, people burying their dead, and some frantically training their moves in the upcoming clash. Its stone walls did nothing to prevent the enemy from creating holes in it, with the biggest one essentially made the walls useless with how big it was.
When one would take a look even closer, they would be able to see there are some jail cells in one location with prisoners who were either trying to break out or who just gave up on resisting.
Despite this, Mira and Eve quickly tried to respond to the man who welcomed them but Adam gestured them to keep silent.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't Butch the Butcher, any interesting news that came out?"
"Nothing too much, it's just that we aren't just fighting the north but we're also fighting the King Alliance's troops. They might be few in number but their strength isn't at all lacking."
"Are the troops elite or are they just fodder?"
"Just one elite and the rest are fodder. He's ranked Tier 2 so this would've originally been easy but-"
"One died, and second-ranked Underworld Envoy is on the enemy's side. Yeah, everything checks out. This should be easy. Let's go."
Adam immediately walked across this stronghold and left without hesitation. As they left, they met people coming back from the war, some lost their arms, some their legs but most of them lost a friend. This unnerving scene was something Mira had to cope with but Eve was strangely calm despite such a horrific situation, it makes one wonder what she went through.
"Finally, this is the place."
As they reached the highest point in this land, they managed to see the war zone where people were still fighting in. The shouts of blood-fueled men fighting for their own respective sides, the clashing of metal swords against wooden shields, and the sound of falling bodies across the battle field could be heard.
Something Adam didn't expect though was the sudden influx of wizards showing up in this war, he could see giant fireballs mowing down hordes of people as well as lightning being summoned to strike their foes. These spells were as basic as they could be but extremely useful in a war against normal people.

On the other side of the map was a single man giving out orders towards a few well-armed people. As soon as they were ordered they went into the battlefield killing countless enemies, the difference between their skills and equipment were too vast to be overcome.
As soon as these men managed to kill a certain amount, they would come back to this man to report back.
Adam then walked over the edge and sat there observing the scene.
"Eve, you remember the person following you?"
Eve tried to recall for a bit when she remembered, "Ah, yes! What about it?"
"You have his head right?"
"That's right but what does this have to do with anything."
"Just bring out his body."
Eve followed Adam's orders and brought our his segmented body parts out in the open, it was still preserved quite oddly. Mira couldn't stomach suddenly seeing such a gruesome body so close so she vomited until she gathered her courage to go back.
Adam picked up a little insignia on the stalker's body and showed it to Eve, "Kill everyone who has this insignia. You have an hour."
"An hour?! I don't think I have enough time to do that at all! They are so spread apart that even tracking one would take at least 10 minutes."
"You think I didn't think of that? Of course, I have a way to gather them all, take this head, and show it in front of the leader or you can be creative with your approach and use your trait."
Eve then understood, she took his head and ran down the hill, essentially jumping down an insane height. When Mira saw this she screamed out but it was unneeded, Eve reinforced her body with mana and was fine even though the impact cracked the ground, catching the eye of the people around her.
She then integrated her mana within herself and used her specialized way of using mana, concealment. The disruptive way of entering the battlefield only to be unseen moments later made for a foreboding feeling.
Her elementary usage of concealment was only useful here since her cover was being aided by the chaos all over the battlefield. She ran along and went straight for the man giving out orders, no one knew where she was but they knew she was something to look out for.
It took Eve nearly ten minutes to run all the way from one side to the other at full speed, making one realize just how vast this landscape was. Once she finally reached the enemy camp, it was only then when she was surrounded by well-armed knights that she was noticed.
The man slowly said in wonder, "What's an old woman like you doing in a place like this?"
Eve then took out the head she had and dropped in front of them.
Every single knight suddenly felt fear and anger at the exact same time since they knew who this face belonged to. It was an extremely famous stalker known for his lack of presence and skill in managing to escape.
The man immediately ordered everything to gather back in order to injure the old woman in front of them. There was no way they could kill her.
That stalker's combat ability may be only equal to a Tier 1 but his skills on escaping were second to none, he was extremely highly rated by many. Seeing an enemy drop the head of such a prominent figure made them understand that they were going to have to fight someone who was above them.
"He's dead! Dammit, I thought he would've never be caught!"
"His last mission was confidential, we need answers from her!"
"He even infiltrated Maghim's kingdom with ease, her ability must be at least Tier 4 or above!
Adam, who was sitting on top of the mountain leisurely watching this scene unfold was amused by what they were saying. The stalker was following Zane so if they find him dead they'll know the True Underworld King was behind this so it was better to strike before they could.
"Now that I think about it, I guess I gave her too much time, now that I think about it, her childhood experience is something to take note of."
Eve was still standing there unfazed by what was going on. Unlike Zane how had an aversion to killing, she had no such attachment so, therefore...
Eve took out her dagger and directly went for the kill. With one single action, their de facto leader was stabbed in the heart, instantly killed.
Seeing the insane speed that she used for that attack, the knights tried to get into formation but immediately after Eve killed, she killed another few men on the side with a single slice. Her slice accurately sliced their necks, causing their heads to fly in the sky.
Leaving them no time to all to react, she then dashed to the other side stabbing a man right in the chest. His armor didn't even manage to protect his body at all, the overwhelming amount of mana that had been infused in her dagger was so much that if just slid right in.
She then saw the incoming reinforcements from the battlefield and jumped towards them, using the person she stabbed in the chest as a jumping platform. While in the air, she passed through two people who had their heads fly through the air.
When she reached the incoming reinforcements, she kicked the neck of the person in front with such force that it decapitated him. The other person right behind him was splattered with the blood of his friend, he tried to scream but Eve maneuvered in the air so that she was able to stab him with a downward slash.
The moment her feet reached the ground, she threw her daggers towards the rest of the reinforcements, and the heads that had been in the air for so long finally dropped. Creating a very satisfying splashing sound.
The last guy who was still alive ever since the beginning saw all of this and dropped to his knees accepting his fate. It wasn't a fight, it was a slaughter. The worse part was that they didn't even manage to raise their weapons before the slaughter ended, it was a completely one-sided fight.
"An assassin, indeed."

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
