《Adam is the Protagonist》Chapter 30: Phase 1: Condensation

As Adam, Mira, and the doctor stepped out of the carriage they immediately went down to the lab.
When they managed to get back, 1 and 2 greeted them during their daily routine exercises. Their conditions were previously quite suspicious but during this two-week period, the doctor finally managed to help them.
Ever since Adam let the doctor do human experimentations he finally managed to pinpoint what the problems were. Though the doctor finally reached his goal, the law within the kingdom still prevailed and his acts were starting to get noticed, something Adam didn't want to happen.
The doctor suspiciously asked, "Is it time?"
Adam went over to the table in the middle of the room and fiddled with the doctor's experiments, "Not yet, there are still spies within the kingdom of Maghim namely Hans. There are also a few more spies lurking around I haven't found yet so it isn't optimal to activate it right now."
The doctor went to the drawer beside the table and grabbed a scroll, he then threw it at Adam's direction.
"So when do I do it?"
Adam grabbed the scroll and opened it, he quickly glanced at the contents and changed the contents of the scroll minutely, and added a few more components to it. Adam then threw it back towards the doctor.
"Roughly a year from now because by that time I would have already set up another one in another kingdom."
The doctor opened the scroll titled 'Camo Slime" and skimmed through the new changes it underwent and patted Adam in the back.
"Genius! It's going to be even stronger than before! Forget those thieves, it can even kill a wizard if he wasn't paying attention."
Mira stood there by the side pondering on what the future laid in front of her. The calm conversation that they were having was something that's taken extremely seriously by any kingdom and Adam's plan was something the whole world would deem as a crime.
Adam word's snapped Mira back to reality, "Let's go. You still have a lot to learn."
With a snap of Adam's fingers, they disappeared from the lab as if they were never there.
"Show off, you just got lucky with that astral stone."
Adam and Mira appeared in the courtyard of Adam's castle, the view was extremely beautiful with the plants and decor completely complementing each other. They appeared sitted with a maid appearing by their side serving tea and some snacks.
Mira knew this was something to ease the earlier tension between them and to keep her up to date with the current situation. She picked up a biscuit and took a bite, the immense flavor caught her off guard making her instantly take another bite.
"You want to enjoy this first or do you want to go straight to it."
Mira stuffed her face with as much as she could before she burdensomely said, "Enjoy."
"Go ahead."
As soon as Mira finished what was in front of her, another maid showed up and delivered another set of snacks, this time it was a fancy looking sandwich nearly the size of her hands. Regardless, she gulped it all down in a rush.

After drinking the nearly cooled down tea by her side she finally finished, "I'm done."
Adam was just sipping his tea when it was finally over, "Good. Right now you'll be training this."
Adam waved his hand and the mana inside Mira instantly dispersed causing her trait to instantly activate.
Mira realized this and screamed, "No!"
Adam nonchalantly said, "Relax."
The mana gathering Mira seemed to increased exponentially and as it was about to enter Mira's body it immediately stopped as if something was commanding it.
"My mana technique, Ruler of Mana."
Mana, which had always plagued her and had caused so much pain was easily stopped by Adam's simple commands. Immediately she knew this was something she would desperately need to learn.
This single act also made her think of something they said about Adam, the True Underworld King. The majority of everyone who knew him understood that his trait was Mana Manipulation, this scene in front of her can't help but make her agree with them even though they were completely wrong.
"There are five phases in this mana technique, Condensation, Integration, Manipulation, Exhaustion, and, Revolution. This is the most versatile mana technique that I know of and definitely the most overwhelming."
Adam raised his palm and an extremely dense amount of mana gathered within that single point and coagulated into an actual crystal.
"This is the first step of my mana technique, Condensation. This is the easiest point of this technique and requires the strongest foundation possible to achieve. Of course, this only applies to normal human bodies."
Adam threw the mana crystal towards Mira and she played with it for a bit.
"It's beautiful yet scary."
The blue crystalline shine and clear transparent core were mesmerizing to look at. Although it was small and fragile-looking, she could feel the density contained within that small fragment. It was enough to completely fill her body five times over.
"Make a mana crystal."
"How am I going to do that?"
"Just gather mana, simple as that. Don't worry about getting overloaded, I'll stay right here to prevent some undesirable situations."
"I don't know how to control mana at all! How am I going to do it?"
"I see where the problem lies, you think gathering and controlling is the same thing, well it isn't. You know how to feel mana around you, you've been feeling it for a very long time. All you need to do is do the exact same thing and force it all into your palm."
Mira closed her eyes and the mana which was once frozen started to slowly gravitate towards her. She could feel mana all around her, she shivered slightly but when the instantaneous pain didn't appear she regained her composure and did her best.
When she opened her eyes, on top of her palm laid a small, nearly crumbling crystal. It was a sorry excuse for what a mana crystal should be but is still a mana crystal nonetheless.
Mira smiled extremely widely and held it out on both hands in front of Adam, "I did it!"
"On your first try, nonetheless. That's barely passing but still a passing grade. Good thing you did this because it would've been a waste otherwise."

Mira didn't care about what Adam said and just started praising herself for this accomplishment.
"Don't get too cocky now, that was just a test if your trait was good enough to use this mana technique."
"You mean I wasn't training it?"
Adam then chuckled at her naivety, "Of course not, there are a lot of people who could do this simple task, to the point that mana crystals are considered as currency. Now listen very carefully, this is the first step in actually learning it."
"Remember the feeling when you crystalized mana and now gather your mana and crystalize it within your heart. Condensation is combining your blood circulation with your mana essentially making you have two circuits."
When Mira heard this she immediately began to doubt what Adam was saying. Crystalizing your own heart with mana is equivalent to suicide, this would essentially stop your heart from moving due to how hard the crystal would be.
"This... is this really the way?"
"Doubting me? That's counter-intuitive, you should doubt everything else but me. Nonetheless, I can't really blame you. Come here."
Adam grabbed Mira's hand and placed it on top of where his heart is. Mira blushed for a bit due to this sudden movement but when she started to feel the mana within Zane's body, it was as if there was an empty void within his body constantly sucking out mana from his surroundings and then instantly disappearing to nowhere.
Though she felt this oddity she still managed to see two circuits within his body flowing constantly.
"What is this?"
Adam let go of Mira's hand and completely ignored her question.
"Understand? You don't just crystalize mana within your heart instantly but form a core and build everything from there. Start from your weak points and go from there. I helped Zane and Eve do this from the beginning but me helping you would just hurt you instead. I'll guide you step by step."
Mira followed each and every one of Adam's orders without question, the steps were simple and straight to the point to where even a small child could do it. When the session finally ended and a mana crystal finally formed within her heart it was night.
Mira opened her eyes and could see everything completely, Adam had already let mana go loose and completely enter her body at an insane speed but she felt calm. The aura around her changed from nobody to a person who was destined for greatness.
She used the mana which was entering her to build upon the foundation that she had set up. At first, it was a little overwhelming but the mana crystal within her finally started to grow big enough to accommodate all the mana entering her body.
The flow of mana towards her body was the same but due to her constant need to build upon her core the mana coming to her was becoming insufficient at an extremely quick rate. It was the first time in her life that she wanted mana to come to her.
"Good, you complete the preliminary stages. You could be safely considered the weakest in this place right now."
When Mira heard this she didn't expect Adam to blatantly insult her, "Weakest?! How can I be the weakest?!"
"Simple, follow me."
Adam understood her current state of mind, the sudden influx of power she received was something that one wouldn't be able to regard as weak but there was one thing stronger than her right now and it was the people who have already mastered this.
Mira followed Adam and when she reached a single step outside this single room she completely understood everything, everyone in this castle is training this single technique and has already obviously mastered the first phase.
"This is just insane! The amount of trust you have is-"
Adam didn't say a single word but let the glaring eyes of every single person here stared down at her. These eyes obviously envied Mira and considering how many people were looking at her like that made her instantly close her mouth.
"You shouldn't liken yourselves to them, they wanted power but to do that they need to serve me. The system I had placed is quite an interesting masterpiece."
Adam looked at Mira obviously happy with this and said, "Don't be like that, they get a day off to do what they want to do and everything here is top secret to the point that they can't even look at me properly."
Mira still glared at Adam but a certain phrase made her think, "What do you mean by that?"
"This."
Immediately Mira's view was completely the same except for one single thing, Adam didn't look like Adam instead he looked like an old wise sage with the wisdom of the past. His arched back and long white beard was something that wouldn't make anyone question his identity.
"Everyone sees me differently due to the seal I placed here, the same goes to you as well and to everyone else too. You could be old, young, ugly, beautiful, scholarly, beggar-like, it's ever-changing. It's perfectly safe to the point that I would guarantee that this country would fall first before this seal."
Mira underestimated just how extreme Adam takes things and this was just one of the things she didn't expect.
"Loyalty is earned, not something one could just freely have. Every single person in this castle is either a master or a powerhouse yet they will all still follow me, they are loyal and that is all that matters."
Adam and Mira were still walking while Adam was basking in his glorious work.
"They are safe and they know it too, some even meet outside here and become great friends. Some enemies even see that they are both serve here and ended conflicts right then and there uniting under the same banner."
Mira understood how crazy this is but couldn't help but admire it. She looked at everyone here and saw that what Adam said was completely true. Finally, they reached an odd door, is was the only door where no soldiers guarded.
"Time to meet your colleagues!"

Grin the Cheat
There was a time when heroes roamed between the Four Great Cities. They fought for kingdoms and princesses and they lived and died by their valour. Or so the stories say. The way the minstrels sing it, everyone had a swashbuckling good time. Nowadays, buckles are rarely swashed. All the great beasts have been slain, all the great treasures unearthed. Princesses are few and far between — the ones worth fighting over, anyway — and the kingdoms have been divvied up between the sons of sons of sons of the heroes of old. No valour required. Frankly, the hero business is in a sorry state. Luckily for Grin the Cheat, thieving and murder are thriving as usual. If you have a moment, please vote for this story at Top Web Fiction.
