《Incomplete》Chapter 31 "A Wolf and a Story"

Leo climbed a tree again and scouted the area, despite that he had no idea where his team could be.
This time though he was more careful and focused to make sure nothing as disastrous as before happened.
Looking in every direction he was sure that the mountains were closer than before. That meant if he moved in the opposite direction he may have a chance to meet up with his team. He wondered if they knew what happened to him but he doubted that they could have seen much through the trees.
Still, he would be running late by now and he was sure they were at least discussing what he was doing taking so long.
Without wasting time he started climbing down the tree which he found quite harder than getting up. Using the holes he had created getting up he slowly got to the ground level.
He was sweating, he had used quite a lot of mana just to climb the tree and having also fought and used other spells his energy was running low.
He was pretty sure that few hours have passed already since they entered the training room. Having noted in his mind in which direction the mountains were relative to the way he faced when he climbed he started moving in hope that this way would lead him to his team.
The forest looked nearly the same to him no matter how much he walked. He wondered if it was just the fault of the simulation or it was really like that in reality. But something told him it looked just like that. He wondered if in one of his past lives he has been there.
Like that he continued walking for three hours and was already getting tired of this. The sun was getting ready to set and he wondered if his training would end just like this. Getting lost. He was sure he would be teased if that happened.
He saw some smaller animals on his way that ignored him but nothing bigger that could be a threat to him. That caused him to be even more worried since that meant Mr. Etan was probably getting something bigger ready for him.
His march continued and he was slowly getting bored by the repetitive scenery.
Despite the trees grandness, the most nonrepetitive part of this place was the occasional hills and uneven terrain. He wondered what caused for all of those trees to look the same.
The only reason he could think of was that they were the highest trees in the forest and blocked light for others kinds slowly died and went extinct.
He was feeling tired, he didn't get any much of a rest last night and his eyes kept closing themselves on their own. He halfly blamed this on his use of the healing spell that siped on his stamina a lot,
He was worried that his response would be slow if something attacked him but he couldn't do anything about it and without a weapon if something big attacked him his best choice would be to run away.
He continued walking forward but after few minutes part of him wanted to take the example out of Black and lean against one of the trees. He shook his head, if he stopped looking for his team now he was sure he would get complaints from Mr. Etan and probably even more training.
A few minutes later he was snuggling against one of the trees, he noticed that it had white flowers coming out its bark before his eyes closed and his mind drifted to the world of dreams.

It was only a few minutes after he got off the board of the ship and he was already getting himself in trouble. He was sure that Elomar would later scold him for this. He couldn't help himself though when he saw poachers getting ready to transport rare animals out of Serotgias back to the human kingdoms.
He watched the warehouse door that he saw the poachers enter a second ago. Getting tired of waiting he walked up to the entrance and with swift kick broke through the wooden gate causing it pieces to fly through the interior of the room.
He smiled and looked inside at the mass of shocked faces looking at him.
"So what do we have here?" he said.
"You bastard! What do you thi..." one of the people tried to shout but a hand stopped him. It belonged to a woman wearing fine clothes compared to the rest of the bunch.
"Welcome. We weren't ready for such a well know guest as you but who could have expected the great adventurer Daniel the blood berserker to come here. Is there anything I could help you with?" she said while trying her best to look calm at him.
"It seems you already know my name but I don't really like the whole blood berserker thing. Doesn't it make me seem like some crazy battle maniac?" said Daniel.
She wouldn't say to him that it was exactly what stories about his adventures told. She looked at him warily.
"But since you already know my name could I know yours?" Daniel still kept his pleasant smile.
"My name is Sebine, Sir. Right now I don't have much that I could great such renowned person like you but I'm sure that once we could meet again in the Remulas Kingdom's capital where my business operates I could provide a welcoming present that would fulfill your every need. So maybe we could cut our fortunate meeting short for now. There is a lot of work waiting for me." She knew she betted a lot on spilling her personal information like that but she was sure that she didn't want to be caught by elves. No matter what.
"Right, but I think that you have something I want." He said and the pleasant smile he had slowly disappeared being replaced by a smile that brought terror to their hearts. "Free all the animals and I can assure you that you will walk out of here at least alive."
Sebine backed a few steps. She was sure that if he wanted to he could cut her any moment. Top class adventurers were such an existence to be reckoned with.
"I'm sorry but it's not something that I can comply with. I have put quite a lot of money into this project. Baros." She didn't want to call this name because a fight would mean a lot of ruckuses that could mean the end of her but she was not being given any other choice.
A big man at least twice the size of Daniel walked close to him from a corner of the warehouse. In truth, he noticed him earlier but chose not to interact him if he was given a choice.
"Long time no see." said the half-giant. "It was a while since we saw each other."
"Yes and I see that your worth ethics are still not exactly clean." commented Daniel placing a hand on his battle axe.
The half-giant smiled and put on two bone gloves from his belt. They looked quite heavy and he was sure that it was not only their huge size that provided the weight as those looked to be made of earth dragon bones.

"Right. It was a while since we had a chance to fight. Back then you were still only a rookie but you showed quite a lot of promise." he said taking a fighting pose. "I'm ready."
Daniel didn't wait and swung his axe vertically with enough speed to make it seem as if it suddenly appeared in front of Baros's face.
Blocking the axe with both of his arms the half-giant looked at him and smiled. "Yes. It is even better than what I was expecting."
"Oh, shut up already." said Daniel and attacked again. This time he fainted his attack and changed the direction of his attack just a second before it was blocked by his enemy right hand cutting deep into the right side of his waist. Normally such strike would have cut anyone in half but it seemed that he had some natural high resistance of the giants.
Baros grunted a little but despite what would normally be a grave wound he swung his fist at Daniel's face causing him to fly away and crash against one of the warehouse walls breaking through it in the process.
Some people looked at him surprised as he went flying on the street. Most of them were local heavy labor workers from this port.
Baros followed him through the hole and looked at him while smiling.
Daniel brought himself up, he also couldn't help but smile as blood went down from his forehead. Till now both of them were not using any magic but as he readied himself to move again he channeled his mana through his body.
He jumped upward just as metal spikes appeared from underneath him. Giant rocks went flying at him but he deflected them with his axe and as he landed on the ground jumped at his opponent before they could even react. He moved with such speed that the bystanders only saw him as he stopped just in front of Barus and swung his axe at him diagonally to his shoulder.
The half-giant deflected it with his right arm but staggered under the enormous pressure. Daniel not giving him a chance to recover swung his axe again this time aiming to cut off Baros's left arm but as he struck it he heard a metallic sound that stopped his blade and caused it to bounce off.
He smiled. He swung his axe again but it was blocked by the bone gauntlet. He sidestepped slightly shifting his body center of mass just enough to cause his enemy weapon pass him by slightly.
He gathered more power into his hands but this time it went to his axe causing it flash in gold and enveloping its blade into a fiery aura.
Stepping forward with his right feet and twisting his waist and shoulders he swung his axe with both hands aiming at the enemy neck.
The half-giant tried to block it with both of this hands and they even shone in metallic light but when they met with the shining blade they were cut off and he could only watch them flying as the blade cut into his reinforced neck like it was nothing.
Blood burst out of the giant body covering both Daniel and the area around him. He looked back into the warehouse it looked like they were trying to get away while he was busy fighting but they were to slow.
Jumping forward he trashed all of them not caring if they would survive or not. In his eyes, they all were just worthless trash. In a way, it was also mercy compared to what elves would do to them if they got caught. Becoming literal living nutrition for trees was not something pleasant.
He saw Sebine running away and in a single second he covered over one hundred yards and knocked her unconscious. She wouldn't escape punishment.
As she fell down she dropped something. Looking closer at it, it was some kind of a box.
Picking it up it felt a little heavy for its size. Opening its lid he saw a small dog like creature inside and looking carefully he noticed that it had a little scar on its left eye.
Bringing it up it woke up and looked at him. He patted its head and it barked cutely at him. Looking at it he was sure it was a lunar wolf. Those were worth a lot in certain circles, especially young ones, it was not strange that she wanted to bring at least it back.
The wolf licked his hand and tried to get to his face. Bringing it up he said "Aren't you the cutest thing ever?"
It liked his nose and barked, it seemed it didn't mind the blood on him.
"Daniel what did you get yourself into again?" he heard a voice behind him.
A tall elf was standing behind him with white hairs and green eyes. He was wearing a green robe and his face told him that he was not happy.
"Ah, Elomar good to see you." said Daniel.
The elf wanted to say something but was interrupted by someone standing next to him. Daniel only noticed her now but it was an elven woman wearing a long white dress. She had long blond hairs but what brought the most of his attention was her golden eyes.
"It seems that you did for us an enormous service. My name is Almedha Yelfina and I'm the one who is in care of this part of mother forest. I would like to offer my sincere gratitude. We will take care of the criminals and return the animals to their rightful homes but is there anything you would want as thanks?" she said. Her voice reverberated his soul with every sound with pleasant vibration.
He smiled at her and his face gave of handsome vibe despite the amount of gore he had on his face and raven hair.
"Yes, a pleasant date with such a lovely lady as you would be like bringing my dreams to life." said Daniel.
His elven companion wanted to say something but he was again interrupted but this time by a wolf bark.
The little canine bit on of his finger. He had nearly forgotten about it. "Oh and maybe if you can't find this little one family could I keep it?"

Leo woke up to a sudden howl. His head hurt and he was not sure what was happening but it seemed he had fallen asleep and in there, he had a recollection of memories again. It was his second time and it didn't feel any better than when it first happened. At least this time it was shorter and he only remembered an episode of his past life.
Looking ahead, he saw a big wolf looking at him. Jumping upward he noticed that he was covered in the white flowers from the tree. He shuddered, part of Daniel knowledge entered him and it told him that he nearly become a tree food.
Looking back at the wolf it just stared at him and Leo stared back. It was big, at least as big as the bear he fought in the simulation but for some reason, he felt that even if he had his weapon there would be no winning against it.
He wondered if there was a chance to escape.
Then he suddenly noticed a familiar white light. He was sure it was from Jennifer spells but he didn't feel relieved since seeing it meant that they were fighting.
Looking back at the wolf it didn't move. He paid it more attention and saw that it had a slight scar under its left eye. He knew it was just illusion but he was happy to see it for some reason.
He tried to call it but as he opened his eyes he couldn't remember its name. No matter how hard he scratched his brain it seemed so close but at the same time so far away.
Then the wolf moved and ran away into the forest before Leo could even react. He wondered what they wanted to achieve by showing this to him. No, he knew what and it already kind of worked. He gritted his teeth.
Looking back at the shining lights though he decided to forget about it for now and gritted his fist. He didn't know how much of use he would be without a weapon but he needed to try anyway.
Jumping into sprint he ran to try to help his friends.
