Chapter 2
Reincarnated
Beings that take over children souls when they are born. They often will try to convince you that they are humans but those are simply demonic lies. 800 years ago Demon King was defeated by the greatest hero, son of god, Olympius and discovered his evil plot. He was reincarnating demons inside human children to infiltrate us! The only way of discovering a reincarnated demon was by him showing an understanding or skills that no young child could acquire. Nowadays we discover them by scanning their souls while looking for irregularities between body and soul.
Schoolbook “The Obvious Truths”
“Mom, are reincarnated that scary?” Asked six-year-old Leo, while looking through books that his mother brought back after returning from work. He was taught how to read by his mother, though it seemed to come quite easily to him.
He was growing up well, now being 4 feet tall. He had short blond hair and blue eyes like his father.
“Yes, they are very scary but you don’t need to worry about them we have long since found a way to be safe from them.” Answered his Mother.
“But what do they do?” Leo pressed, curious.
“They infiltrate our society and stab us in the back when we least expect that. That is what happened to our Hero when he faced the Demon King.” Julie answered. This is what she was taught since she was a kid too. “Now you should go to bed and rest. Tomorrow is your first day of school.”
Leo just nodded and run up to his room. Wondering about his mother words, not really sure what he should think about it, but his mother said so so it must be the truth! He believed so.
-*-
The next day came quickly and Leo was already flying with his Father and Mother in their personal vehicle propelled by gravity engine.
“Dad, how long does it take to get to the school?”
“About ten minutes.” Jake answered.
The flight itself was quite boring. As they were flying over buildings following the light road.
“Oh look the school is in the view on the right.” said Julie to her son.
That got Leo interested, looking out of the window he noticed big 4 stories high building build in the shape of rectangle with a garden inside of it. Behind it was sports track field and huge gym next to it. The whole area was surrounded by walls.
What interested him even more, was black surface covering huge part of the area in front of the school. “What is that black strip in front of the gate?”
“Ah, those, I think this is the last one left in our city, those were roads used in the past when cars couldn’t fly” explained Julie.
“Huh, then how did they move?” asked Leo.
“They had something called wheels, big circles that moved the vehicles using wind magic to rotate them.” tried to explain Julie.

“Strange.” expressed the boy.
“I’m going to park now.” said Father.
Afterwards, they headed through the gate and were guided by a teacher to head towards the gym where principal will give a speech.
There were many parents with their kids going around the school complex. Leo was excited to make friends his age since most of his parent's friends didn’t have children yet and in his neighborhood, there were not many children in the first place.
As they came inside the gym they noticed few desk with staff, telling students and parents where to sit.
“Welcome. Can I ask for your son name?” asked a red-haired woman.
“I’m Leo!” jumped in the boy.
The staff person smiled. “Yes, and your last name?”
“Redmond!” replied Leo.
The woman put his name on the registry she had in her tablet. “Leo Redmond, class 1-C, here is your id. Seats for your class are in the second row from the front on the left. Parents can sit in the back.” She said as she passed Leo his card with his name and class written on it.
Tucking the card inside of a pocket of his jeans he turned to his parents. “Can I go now?”
“Yes, we will sit here in the back.” said Jake.
Moving past the row of seats he found a seat with written ‘1-C’ on it. There were already few kids sitting here.
Leo decided to sit in the first free seat next to a black haired boy little smaller than him. “Nice to meet you! I’m Leo.”
The black-haired boy looked at him for a second before realizing he was speaking to him. “Ah! Ehm, NICE TO MEET YOU! I’M DAVID!”
Realizing that everyone now was looking at them, David tried to hide in his seat, but to his relief, everyone lost interest in a while/
After sitting down he looked quite traumatized.
Leo said little stupefied “Don’t worry, I’m quite excited too!” reassuring the smaller boy. David looked at him smiling.
Before they could continue the light focused on the stage of the auditorium and big man with long white hair and clad in black suit was standing in the middle of it as if he was always there but Leo could swear that the stage was empty just a second before. His face looked young despite what his hair would suggest. Opening his mouth he spoke, “Principal will now begin his speech.” After this he was gone as seamlessly as he appeared.
Small, old looking man entered the stage and came in front of a podium.
He had a bald head and wore round glasses. He wore a ceremonial robe made of a purple and black material on him with gold markings on it.
“Nice to meet you. I’m the Principal of this academy Alexander Victorius. I wish to welcome you all to this humble establishment where you will spend next 12 years of your education. I hope you will be able to enjoy your time here as I did when I was young. Ah I remember the times when I first crossed the gate of this school…” and his speech from this point wouldn’t be remembered by anyone.

“He looks quite old” spoke Leo to David.
“Yes, at least 200 years old” joked the black haired boy and both laughed a little.
“I will inform you that I’m only 143 boys.” Said the Principal while looking at them making them want to hide. “But I guess it’s easy to make such mistake… since it seemed that I ended up blabbering we will end this speech now. Now you will meet up with your respective homeroom teacher, I hope the time in this academy will be fruitful to you.”
The lights were turned back to normal and next to their row of seats was standing a middle-aged man with black hair slowly turning gray. He was over six foot two with bulging muscles under his suit. “Class 1-C, I’m your homeroom teacher assistant Lewis Miles. I’m here to guide you to your classroom so please group yourself in pairs and come after me.”
The kids placed themselves behind Miles and started forming in pairs. Leo and David simply nodded to each other and stood at the end of the line.
Now that he had time to look Leo noticed that there were only fifteen people in his class.
“Is someone absent? There should be sixteen of you here.” The huge man said. Looking at the one person left without pair he said. “Well, just go at the end.”
Leo looking at the person noticed it was a girl. She had brown hairs made into a ponytail and green eyes that looked as if she couldn’t be more bored. She simply nodded and went to the back of the line.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Leo!” Leo said as she got close to them.
She simply looked at him not interested at all.
“I-I’m David!” said David somewhat nervous.
She looked now at both of them and seeing that Leo was still smiling and looking at her expecting and answer, she simply sighed and said “Mary”.
David tugged on Leo’s shirt.”We should go, look everyone is already going!”
“Ah, you are right! Let’s go!” Leo said and started running after their group. David followed after him and annoyed Mary fast walked to catch up.
Parents followed the group to the classroom.
-*-
Now they were sitting in the classroom with parents standing near the walls. Doctor Miles stood in front of everyone at teacher desk “Unfortunately for reasons concerning Mrs. Anna Robinson, your homeroom teacher, health, she won’t be able to join us today. We will perform your magical examination in alphabetical order ”
“What do they mean by magical examination?” Leo asked David who was sitting next to him.
“They will check what type of mana we can use. How did you not know that?” answered the black-haired boy.
“Mom could have said something about that, I must have forgotten. Hahaha…” Leo said little embarrassed.
“David Brown!” Said the teacher. “Please come here and place your hand on the magic crystal.”
“I need to go now.” David said standing up and walked up to the teacher desk.
The crystal was in shape of a blue transparent cube but as Leo continued to see deeper into it there seemed to be many different shapes inside of it made of many different colors. It looked quite mesmerizing but also familiar to him somehow. ‘Strange’ he thought.
David placed his hand upon the crystal and the many different shapes started coming to surface shining in all spectrums of light. Slowly settling into a single color.
“Green, your element is wind, and the purity is quite high. Congratulations.” said Miles and the parents started clapping. “You can go back to your seat for now.”
This went on for few more times. Children started chattering more and more as they got excited for their turn.
“Mary Edge!” said the teacher.
She was the only person sitting alone at the far end of the classroom next to the window. Mary stood up and went over to the crystal.
This time it seemed to glow much more brightly than in previous tries.
“Water magic, with a very high affinity for ice, exceptional. You have great potential young girl” said Miles.
Mary simply looked at him and moved back to her seat. The class looked at the girl strangely. ‘Why is she not happy’ they thought.
It went on a few times with no such result repeating. It seemed that Leo would be the last to be examined.
Finally, his turn came. “Leo Redmond!” He stood up and walked up to the cube.
He was somewhat hesitant to touch it but slowly placed his hand upon it anyway.
The cube started to shine but something strange happened that didn’t happen before. The shapes inside of the cube started moving like a whirlwind, like if they were fighting for dominance. Finally the top and bottom of the cube shined in red and the sides in white with a hint of gold light.
“Hmm… double element, fire and… enchanting side of light magic, quite rare and two elements at that, but the quality is little lacking. Still, you have quite good luck boy” there was a round of applause for him after Milles words and quite a bit of chattering among the students.
Afterwards, Leo returned to his seat, the whole situation had a hint of familiarity about it.
“Now that everyone has been examined we will head back to the sports field, usually this would be the end but some changes were made and now it’s time for small training exercise! Come over for your gym suits!”
The class went silent.
