《Demonic Descent》Chapter: 9 Divine Apostle

*Ding*
He heard a sound in his head when the warm current reached his head from his hand and a translucent screen with some text on it, appeared in his vision.
Congratulations on becoming a Divine Apostle
'It still feels like the gruesome scene along with all this demon stuff has finally caused some mental trauma' Kael thought to himself.
But some new text appeared on the screen.
This System will help your God/ Goddess in supporting your growth as their Divine Apostle while also helping you serve your God/ Goddess more effectively You have chosen to be the Divine Apostle of High Goddess of Death, Nebthet
(Link to know more- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nephthys )
Please pass the trial of acceptance given by the High Goddess of Death, Nebthet for becoming her official Apostle, failing to comply with the System's instructions will result in your death and annihilation of your soul.
The last part of the text sent chills down his spine, though he didn't understand what the 'annihilation of the soul' was, he knew that it was something equal to death or worse.
"I should deal with this guard and get out of here before thinking about all this stuff" Kael started to drag the body towards the hole from which he came, then he placed it in the hole along with its hands and covered the hole with snow, after searching for anything useful on the body.
He found a pack of cigarettes along with a lighter and an energy bar, which he gingerly stuffed into his mouth and consumed it whole in a couple of bites.
"At least I won't have to struggle against hunger for some time and think of getting out of here" Kael mumbled as he walked in the direction from which the guard came.

He only managed to cover less than twenty meters, when he was confronted with a small group of guards dressed similar to the previous guard, who started to shoot him with their hand guns on first sight of him.
'Fuck! Were they alerted by the guard's screams' Kael thought to himself as he tried to protect his head from bullets with his head while shouting "I AM NOT A MONSTER"
However, the firing didn't stop, instead, it became more accurate as one bullet hit him in his right leg.
"Ahhh…." Kael wailed like a slaughtered pig due to pain but the pain was less than what he expected from a bullet wound so he looked down only to find a hole in his tattered pant from which his red skin could be seen that had turned purple due to impact from bullet but the bullet didn't manage to pierce his skin.
"I am bulletproof. Heheheheh….." Kael started to laugh manically upon this discovery, much to the horror of guards who stopped shooting.
"He is a monster, run…"A Guard shouted and the whole group started running away.
*Ding*
Kael laughter came to an abrupt end upon hearing this sound.
The Trial of Acceptance Quest has been generated on the command of the High Goddess of Death, Nebthet.
'The Trial of Acceptance Quest!'
Kael raised his head.
He just looked at the text on the screen for some time and the quest window spread out before his eyes.
Trial of Acceptance Quest Part->1 Kill all the escaping enemies Life forms are holding murderous intentions towards the Apostle. Kill them all before they could spread the information about you, to secure your safety. If you do not follow this instruction, it will result in your death. The number of enemies left to kill 9 The number of killed enemies 0

Kael's eyes opened wider.
'To complete the trial quest, all of the guards must die?'
Kael hesitated as he was not a cold blooded killer. Yes, he wanted to skin Louise Hammer alive and finish him off but that was because of his hatred towards him but these guards didn't do anything to him.
Though he wanted to beat them for shooting at him, that was all, after all, he wasn't hurt.
"Hello Jerry, it's me, Matt, send all the men that are available at the base, there is a red fucking monster after us. Order them to come with rifles, bullets from hand guns don't harm him" A guard who was the farthest from him took a radio handset from his backpack and started asking for help.
Just then the text on the screen changed.
Trial of Acceptance Quest Part->1 Kill all the escaping enemies Life forms are holding murderous intentions towards the Apostle. Kill them all before they could spread the information about you, to secure your safety. If you do not follow this instruction, it will result in your death. The number of enemies left to kill 9 The number of killed enemies 0 Remaining time 1 minute 12 seconds
What a clear-cut threat that was.
If he didn't finish the quest as intended in the given time, he would die instead.
'Kill if I don't want to be killed, is that it?'
The content was pretty shocking, but Kael's fluster didn't remain for long as if all his hesitation was slowly being pulled out of him. Soon, his flustered mind morphed into one of calmness. He even found it hard to believe, but that was the truth.
There was fear that lingered in his mind as well, and then his Stats values popped up in front of his eyes.
Status Hungry Name Kael Strider Race Chaos Demon (Infant) Level 0 Type Awaiting completion of Trial of Acceptance Quest Title None Lifespan 500 years Age 21 years Strength 5 Agility 4 Stamina 4.9 Vitality 6 Intelligence 4 Spirit Energy ? [Note: - One point represents the maximum amount of a human can possess, and 5 points of strength means 5 X the maximum amount of strength of a human]
The stats he saw were quite similar to the characters from an online game he used to play many months ago and what he paid attention to was the 'Skills' column.
A Racial skill called 'Chaos Soul' and nothing else.
For some reason, he felt rather apprehensive about it.

Rise of the First Necromancer
Asrael Nessarat awakes on a sandy dune with a mouthful of sand and nothing but tattered rags in his posession. As the High Magus of the school of Necromancy, he once aspired to prove to the Emperor that magic still held a place in their society. But that day came, passed and inevitably accelerated his kind's downfall. Now; they are hunted, strung up and burned on pyres throughout the Empire by the Emperor's holy Inquisition- an efficient and ruthless army hell-bent on bleeding every last droplet of magic from the lands. With nothing but a mouthful of sand and tattered rags; Asrael is determined to seek the one thing his cold, still heart desires. Vengeance. This story can, at times, get very dark. It is not recommended for the faint of heart. This is not a story of an overtly powerful wizard who can pulverize his enemies from across the world, nor is it in any way, shape or form a joyous tale. We follow Asrael as he and his companions explore and seek to change an unjust world, where kindness and acceptance are exceptions, rather than the rule. If you are looking for a story to inspire hope or joy, this is not it. If you wish to read about likeable, heroic people, turn around. If you wish to see good battle evil, where the cut in between is clear, then this is not for you.

Humans Must Adapt!
Humans Must Adapt is a First Person point of view from the eyes of slightly crazy and totally not a masochist MC. The setting takes place on a copy of earth with a different name. A cataclysmic event causes the native humans to be usurped from their natural place at the top of the food chain. Time has now passed, and the Humans have managed to settle themselves into mediocrity. But this is not enough.Note: I don't plan on including sexual content. The MC won't have an end game goal right from the start. Feedback is welcomed. The MC is a Tamer.
