《This world is strange》Chapter 103. Travelling south

As they left the city the elf took a deep breath.
"Finally I can speak."
They all got on the horses.
"So what is your name? Yesterday we forgot to ask it."
"Typical..."
Joseph looked at him questioningly.
"We just got you out of jail, what's your problem?"
"I would've got out by myself!"
"Like when they caught and cursed you?"
He didn't answer but looked really angry by the comment.
"Arborus. My name is Arborus."
Then he went ahead of them.
"Catherine I feel like we just got some annoying luggage on our neck."
"My suggestion is that we just leave him. It would be funny."
"Then why did we even get him out of the jail? He will be thrown back."
"That was your idea."
Catherine went after him, leaving Joseph.
"True... It was a stupid idea..."
He followed her on the road.
Their first stop was at a village on a crossroad that led to Krishmar on the north, a harbor city called Jalms on the east, and the next village on the south. These villages had no names, they all belonged to the city next to them and had the same rulers. For example, it was one of the villages that were controlled by Krishmar. They just called them the South, East, West, or North Village of Krishmar, etc.
It took them a week to get there and on the way, they set up tents to rest in every night. The roads were safe because they were patrolled by guards and soldiers because they were important trade routes.
On the way there Arborus complained about everything. The food, tents, the horse, even because of the sunny days.
Joseph and Catherine wanted to ditch him, just when they arrived at the first village. In there they stayed at an inn and he was finally silent. He just drank at a table on the other side of the room and stared at the wall.

"What do you think, what is his problem, Joseph?"
Joseph just smiled at her.
"I'm not sure. Maybe he drunk too much?"
Catherine shook her head.
"What? He is an annoyance you know as well. Until he is silent I'm fine with it."
"Are you sure? Maybe he only complains because he has some problems. Why are you so offensive against him?"
Joseph narrowed his eyebrows.
'Wait. Why am I so negligent about him? Maybe if I just talk to him he would be fine. Why do I not care about it even a little bit?'
As he finished his line of thought Catherine stood up and walked up to Arborus.
'Whatever. She will figure out something.'
Catherine stayed with the kid and spoke with him.
The next day morning he was more silent than before. As they were buying supplies he was even helpful. They took the rest of the next day off and decided to go in the next morning.
Joseph and Catherine were sitting away from him again and were eating dinner.
"So, what did you two talk about?"
"Just some stuff. Nothing important."
"It does not seem like that for me. He behaved better than yesterday."
"He did. It seems like he just had a lot on his mind and was frustrated."
"I see. Was it about the things that happened a few months ago?"
"Yes. He is worried that a lot of the people died."
Joseph shrugged.
"I don't know how many people are alive, but I'm sure that most of the people from the mansion survived. They were even stronger than you, so it would be strange if they would've died."
"Stronger than me? What do you mean?!"
"You know, they are the ones I was talking about back then."
"I'm really curious now. I want to see who they are."
"You will don't worry."
She didn't answer. The rest of the night went peacefully.
The next morning they left the village.

The Power of Ten: Book One: Sama Rantha, and Book Two: The Far Future
(Author's Note: If you're wondering about the views, it's +1.8 million more on Webnovel, its original home. Updated daily starting Dec. 26, 2018, and continued with Book Three.) Some time ago, a planes-traveling archmage made up a video game to train some people on the planet Earth for the catastrophe he knew was coming. That game was the Power of Ten. The gods seized this opportunity to take the templates of some of those characters, and even their souls, for use in other worlds, and other realms. Sama Rantha is one of those characters, and is going to find out that being a Hagchild and having to survive after your Hag Curse fails to murder you at birth is much, much less fun than setting it as your Race at level One on a gamescreen. Join Sama Rantha on her Road to Ten, and letting her Hagmother know exactly what she thinks of her... ------ Warning: This book starts with a HARD OPEN! It was written as an extension of other stories that have not made it onto the Internet yet for National Novel Writing Month in Nov/2018. Book One/Sama Rantha: A traditionalist LitRPG in the fantasy world vein. The beginning chapters will be heavy with gaming terms and the supporting math as Sama exploits the rules as much as possible, minmaxing her heart out to get one up on the world trying to kill her. The math and rules lawyering tapers off, but are never eliminated, as Sama is going to do everything she can to exploit the rules of reality here and not die, while making sure those responsible for this get exactly what is coming to them... ------ Book Two, The Far Future (starting Ch. 286): The Warp, the final frontier; in the grim darkness of a galaxy far far away, there came a hagchild...QX! Sci-fi/Fantasy/psionics mashup, grimbright clashing with grimdark! Sama is sent into a setting she'd rather not be in, but the heart of a powergamer never says no, even in the crapsack galaxy of the Tellurian Empire. BOOK TWO IS COMPLETE WITH 357 CHAPTERS AS OF 9/2020. ----------- Book Three (updating daily): The Human Race (next Book!) - Urban Fantasy world. Three Power of Ten gamers come together in a world under the Shroud of the Cancer of Death. Whatever might happen when they do, and what might they find there? Book Three is complete with 500 chapters: right here. Book Four: Power of Ten is dumped into the Marvel Universe. Surely there'll be no changes to canon when that happens? A Fanfiction variant, with teeth! Dynamo The Original Sama Stories: Being posted at: over in this location. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Discord link: in zis location is always up if I'm online. 8 786Kreig Goes Apesh*t (An AU of Returning to No Applause)
An AU of my previous story, Returning to No Applause, that asks the simple question of "What if it all went wrong?" When Kreig first appears on Earth again, after being stranded in another world for 130 years, he finds himself faced with weapons and guns. In a fit of instinct, he accidentally murders one of the many Fighters, causing what can only be described as a massacre to take place. The story that follows this simple premise is completely opposed to the one told before, focusing less on character improvement and more so degradation. It should come as no surprise that I personally recommend reading the OG story before checking this one out, and if you've already done so, great! Swell havin' ya! Any such readers might remember that I mentioned writing a story like this a while back, and... Here we are. This is in no way a continuation or sequel, nor will it be very long. Expect around 15 chapters at most depending on various factors. All and all, the 5-page length will remain the same (apart from chap. 1) and so will the release time, Sundays at 20:30 EST (I think?). All that aside, I sure hope you'll enjoy this! It'll obviously be very different from the OG story, but I personally think that's a good thing. Cheerio!
