The sun was shining bright in the morning as a group of armed people arrived with three carriages. A young man exited out from the first carriage and walked up to the four people at the entrance of the tent. He wears traveling clothes but still looked like a man of high standards.
"Good morning! My name is Abel Phoenix, I'm the nephew of Roland and I'm here to speak with the leader of the excavation."
Leonard walked up to him and looked him up and down before greeting him with a bright smile.
"It is an honor to meet you. I'm Leonard a historian sent here by Roland. I'm very sorry, but you won't meet the leader. The people who you see here are the only survivors of assassination from an unknown group."
He looked around with a surprised expression and then noticed the graves not that far away from the camp.
"I am very sorry about the happenings. We were sent here a week ago to help you with the findings, but we did not get any notice of what happened here."
"I see. I found it strange that you came here that fast, but if you didn't know about what happened, that makes more sense. Please come to the tent and have tea with me. I'll explain everything."
"Just a moment."
He walked back to the carriages and spoke with the armed people coming with him. From the second carriage, another young man exited. He walked up to Abel to speak with him. He looked like a teenager and wear the same clothes as Abel.
Joseph walked up to Leonard watching the new group speak.
"Are you sure we can trust them?"
"He is the nephew of Roland. I know him well and know that they have a very close relationship. He was helped out by Roland a lot of times when he was in trouble and even got his debt paid by him. I don't think he would betray Roland."

"I see. If you think they are trustworthy then it's fine with me. But I and Catherine have to leave soon. The ruins should be safe now. All the traps and armors have been disabled in the last few days."
"Really? I was wondering where you went a few days ago."
Just as he finished the sentence Abel walked up to them with his group. Leonard turned to them.
"If you are ready let's head in. Shall we?"
They walked in and sat down at a table.
Abel showed a paper to Leonard, which was written and sealed by Roland. It stated that he sent them to help with the excavation after he sent Joseph and Catherine.
'The fact that it mentioned us makes it more credible.'
After explaining what happened at the campsite they set up a few more tents where they put down all their stuff.
Meanwhile, Joseph and Catherine stayed with Tobald.
"So what are your plans Tobald?"
"I think I'm just gonna go and find my son. It seems like he does not want to or can't respond to me. I'll go and take a look at what happened to him."
"Are you sure it's a good idea?"
"Yes. After all, he is the only relative I have. We should stay together. Maybe I can even turn him back into his real form."
"I see. How do you plan to get there?"
"I'll just fly. It will take a few days, but nothing serious."
"Fly? With magic? Are you sure it's a good idea given your condition?"
"Don't worry. I'll use my items for it, I won't be using my mana for this trivial job."
He pulled out a pair of boots from his pocket dimension and put them on. They look like normal boots, except for the small lining on its side, which was made from the same kind of mana stones that the golems used.

"This will do it."
He walked to the edge of the hole and then turned back.
"I almost forget."
He pulled out two medallions from his pocket dimension.
"Here are the gifts for your help."
He gave them to Joseph and Catherine.
"May we meet again."
He flew up into the sky and disappeared in a few seconds. They both were shocked by the speed.
"Those are some amazing boots. Catherine do you know how to use a flying spell?"
"I know how to, but I don't use it. It eats all of my mana in half an hour. Though it is fun. I can teach you if you want."
"I'm not sure about that. For now, it would be better if I could learn the pocket dimension."
"You are pretty close to it. You just have to learn it now. Next time we have some free time I'll teach you."
"Alright. Shall we also leave this place and go back to Krishmar?"
"Yeah. But first, let's see these medallions."
She held the one in her hand in front of her eyes.
The medallions were simple. they were small golden disks with green crystal orbs in the middle of them.
[Protective Medallion
This item makes a barrier around the user. This barrier can defend against damages that would hurt the user. It can take up to 5000 hp damage to break it and once the barrier breaks the item will as well with it and have to be reforged before using it again.]
Another window popped up.
[Congratulations!
You have completed the quest to investigate the basement of the iron tower. You have acquired the Protective Medallion and 200 exp.]
'Wait what? The quest only completed now? Also, the medallion was included? But I got that from Tobald... Nevermind. It is at least a good reward.'
Catherine's eyes shone up.
"A protective charm! And it is a powerful one! This guy knows what kind of gifts to give out."
"I think this would protect us from a lot of problems."
"Oh, so you can also identify it?"
"Yes. I got a spell for it."
'Even though it's an ability.'
"Sometimes I feel like you just know random spells, that I'm not familiar with. Where did you learn these anyway?"
"Back at the mansion. It has a giant library with a lot of books and it has information about all kinds of spells."
"Really? I'm eager to see it!"
"I'm not sure if you will be allowed inside."
"I'll convince them."
"Good luck with that."
They put on the medallions and went back to their carriage.
