《This world is strange》Chapter 75. Mana problem

After Joseph returned from the chat with Silvia he met up with Catherine and they ate the breakfast together.
"Catherine. You know how to make dimension storage, right?"
"Yes. You want me to teach you?"
"I would like that."
She looked at his chest for a few seconds.
"I'm not sure if you can make it though. To make it, you need to use a lot of mana. Though you can do it in parts, but it would take days with the amount you have."
"How much more would I need to make one?"
"If you want to make one in one day and not sit around for a few ones, I would say at least double the amount."
"I see. Then I might be able to do it in a few days."
"Really? How do you plan to make your core stronger in a few days?"
"I think I have a way."
He bit on a sausage.
'I mean... I still have the stat points. I think I'll spend them one by one for a few days, so she won't notice the sudden change.'
"I'm looking forward to see how much can you develop."
"I'm curious as well."
They ate the breakfast and went to the beach to their usuall spot.
The lake had a few parts where a small forest was right next to it and it was usually on a high ground, where a cliff lead to the water. These places were unpopular for people, because it was dangerous. But for them it was one of the best places.
They sit down and spoke with eachother.
"Joseph. Do you know that absorbing mana from nature is a rare ability?"
"Yes."
"Because it is so rare, it is a miracle that we both actually can do it. Also nor my master, nor any other person I've ever met could do it."

"I see."
"So the only things I can teach you are the things I've found out, or read in books. But my knowledge is very limited because of it."
"That is unfortunate. I thought it would be more common. Like that hag in the swamp was doing it."
"Not really. She was using a crystal that absorbed the mana and then she sucked it out of it. It is a lot less efficient and more common. But you need to let the crystal absorb mana for hours, or days even to use them."
"Really? Then we have some awesome ability, right?"
"Something like that."
She sat down to meditate.
"Anyway. The reason I mention it is that, I don't actually know the limits of it. I once tried to get a lot more manna then I could possibly have, but it was a bad idea."
She shivered from the thought.
"What happened?"
"It was very painful. Never try it!"
Joseph noded.
"Now let's just get started."
"Alright!"
After they spent two more days there, Joseph spent his stat points and looked at his stats.

Reasons to Stay
Immortality has a cost, it differs from person to person. Some regret seeing their loved ones die, some regret they themselves cannot die, some regret the boredom and some regret nothing. This man regrets not having a choice, so after millions of years of getting shot, beheaded, beaten, stabbed and stoned he escaped from the world by hiding in a bunker with his books. He had studied all forms of science, he had lived history and created art, he was content with being alone with his mind until one day a man with a monocle appears, and he learns the truth. Hi! This is my second novel and I just had this idea when I was trying to sleep and my mind was making me re-live all those goddamn nightmares you don't want when it's 1 am and dark as shit, so I thought of happy things like the fantasy genre and my inevitable death and i'm like why not?

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.

Unlimited Phantasm
DEATH While there is a difference as to when a person or object will "end," it is certain that they will all arrive at that point because death is not something that "arrives," but rather is something already contained within an object at its creation and certainly bound to happen as part of the principle of causality.

Purple Scales - A Reincarnation Story
Ssssssss...... A simple story of a man brought into a world of fantasy, magic, and systems by a crude God as some sort of a deal we may never know. Although.... he's a snake. Your typical honest-to-goodness brightly coloured danger noodle with venoms and all. To be precise, a magical snake with lots of growth potential. Follow the story of Randy, a pushover whose commands by God only being "survive, and grow big", on a journey to... well... survive and grow big, as he discovers what the world truly has to offer. Which is not much. Hopefully, not too much. A typical reincarnation story, really, but it might just satisfy your thirst for these kinds of stories. I'm just an amateur writer hobby-writing on my spare time, mostly for private consumption. This is also a practice on me developing gamelike-systems in literature. Will contain lots of swearing Any criticisms and feedback regarding storyline, language, and thematics are welcome. As this is a spare-time hobby, updates are not, will not, and will never be predictable. I will try my best, but don't get your hopes up. Inspired by a few other works on this site.
