《This world is strange》Chapter 74. The visit

As Joseph went to sleep he felt weird lying on the bed, like it was the ground. When he opened his eyes, he saw darkness once again, but it was different then a few days ago. It felt familiar, like he got to a place where he was safe, but close to someone strong.
When he looked around he heard a familiar voice of a woman.
"Nice to see you again Joseph."
He sighed in relife. It was Silvia sitting next to a table and writing on a paper right next to him. He found it strange that he did not notice her sooner.
"Nice to see you as well?"
She put down the pen, looked up at him and smiled.
"Why are you so supprised? I said we'll meet again. How long was it? A week, or two?"
"It was almost two month ago I think. It's hard to keep track of the time without a calendar or something."
She shook her head.
"Stil it wasn't that long ago that you would forget me, would it?"
"No ofcourse!"
He smiled awkwardly at her.
"It's just that nowadays I always get to a place like this, this is the fourth time that I woke up in a place filled with only darkness."
"I know. Would you like me to change this?"
"I would like it very much!"
"Alright!"
The place around them became dark grey and blurry, then it started to shift. The place became a small room with bookcases all around the walls and one door behind Joseph. Catherine was still sitting behind a desk on a chair in front of the door.
"So Joseph. I have been watching what you are doing. It seems like you figured out a few things with a few other persons out there."

"I have been wondering around, but I don't really understand what do you mean by that."
"I was talking about the rift you closed up with that woman."
"Oh! Right. The one that had that core."
"Exactly!"
She held out her hand and an orb similar to the core that Joseph has materialized in her hand.
"So do you know what is this?"
"It's an item that is made from high amount of mana concentrated in one place, or something like that."
She shook her head.
"In one point you are correct. These orbs can be found at places where is a lot of mana. But it's not made from it. It is a condensator. It collects manna and stores it. So the one who made it can come back for it and use it for the thing they made it for."
Joseph was confused.
"Then why was the door to it open?"
"It was a mishap, on the persons part who made that pocket dimension. But the problem is that you removed it. Now the one who made that place will come for you. The reason I tell you this is that, you don't want to mess with them. You should either get it back to the place you found it at, or find the person who is looking for you and give it back to them. They might get you off easy."
He scratched his head.
"That is going to be a problem."
"I don't think it's that big of a problem. I just wanted to speak with you about this and an other thing, but I think this one is more then enough. I think you have questions."
"Yes. How did you know?"
She smiled and put her hands under her chin.

"I can see it, just looking at you."
"Oh."
He smiled back at her.
"I was just curious about what happened the other day, when someone shot me while we were next to the campfire."
"That one is simple. You know where you are right now?"
"As I remember you said this place is a pocket dimension?"
"Yes. This place is customly made by me. That is why I can controll it."
The whole place warped around and then back.
"These dimensions are made by people who either have powerful artifacts, or either they are powerful. The one who got you in there used an artifact in a shape of an arrow. That place was made by an other person and connected to that arrow. That place was different from this as well. Can you guess what was the difference?"
Joseph looked around.
"It was filled with a darkness, that covered everything. Also if it was just a different place and not an illusion, the time went by slower there."
Joseph just remembered something strange.
"But wait! I wasn't wounded when I got out, why?"
"It's easy! The person who made it, made it impossible to get hurt inside."
"But I got hurt!"
"That was just a trick."
She clapped.
"But congratulations! You guessed it right!"
Joseph shrugged.
"I was thinking about it for a few days and these were the most logical things I came up with."
"Right."
She wrote something on the paper she was writing on, then held it up and looked at it.
"Alright this is done. Please read it and sign it."
Joseph was confused.
"What?"
"Just read it you'll see."
He started to read the paper. It was an agreement on that in his previous life Joseph died because of his own will and he wanted to reincarnate in an other world.
"What is this?"
"It's an agreement."
"I can see that."
Silvia sighed and layed her face on the table.
"The old geezers were angry, that I just got you to an other world without any papers and for a while I had to make all kinds of legal works to make it working for me."
Joseph made a stupid face.
"Aren't you a god? Can't you just make them in a second?"
"No. These guys are like the most old and old-fashioned gods around. They literally want the original body of the creature, who made these things happen, write down every legal paper with their own hands. So I have been making them for a while."
Joseph chuckled.
"They are really strange."
"Yeah. But again it is demanded to do it like this, or the balance or what not will got broken or what. I don't really care about this stuff most of the times."
"Oh."
Joseph just stood there not knowing what to do.
"Right! How is your other self doing in the other world?"
"She has already ascended to the higher plane. It has been around a few hundred years by now."
"Really? So the time changes world by world?"
"You'll learn about it yourself, when you ascend... Actually if you ascend. There is a chance that you might fail or die."
"That is really reassuring."
"I know. But now, off you go!"
"See you next time?"
"See you!"
Joseph woke up in the bed in the morning.
"That was awkward..."
