In the afternoon a guy covering his face with a hood came in the inn. He looked around and then walked to the table where Joseph and Catherine sit.
"Hello there. I did not expect that it would be you to find me first human."
He took down his hood.
"Hello Caleb. Please join us."
He pointed to one of his chairs and Caleb sit down.
"Do you want something to drink or eat? As I heard you were working until now."
He leisurely shaked his head.
"I got lunch after work, but I would like a jug of beer."
Joseph ordered one for him.
"Also who is this lady with you?"
"She is Catherine. I met her a few days ago and we are travelling together."
"It's nice to meet you Catherine."
"Same."
Caleb didn't seemed to mind the short answer. Meanwhile Herold got the beer for him and he took a sip.
"I guess you want to get back to the mansion."
"Yes. We are headed that way. Meanwhile I thought we would search up all the scattered people from the different places and ask them if they want to come."
He shrugged.
"That seems a good idea, but I don't really plan to go back. I have a nice life here. Maybe later I'll go, but for now I want to stay and get to know this strange place and culture."
Joseph smiled at him.
"I see. Well I only came to ask, I'm not forcing. But I'm also curious about if you know what happened. As far as I know the magic circle should've teleported everyone in the same place."
He looked sad for a moment.
"There was a problem casting the spell... I was watching as Master Flinn cast the spell. But before he could've finished he fell down and lost his conciousness. Next thing I knew I was in the middle of goblins. After I took them out I met with these humans and joined them. It was good that I've seen you before so I knew they weren't abominations, but inteligent race like us."

"It seems like that my presence helped a little. Also Master Flinn fainted? That doesn't seem good."
Catherine spoke quietly.
"He had to use a lot of mana to teleport everything. I guess his body couldn't handle it. Now he might even be dead."
Joseph and Caleb looked bad after hearing this.
"It's Master Flinn, I think he can handle!"
Joseph remembered the alert he got when he tried to get more manna, then his maximum.
"I don't think that's true. Having more mana, then your body can handle can have a lot of reprocussions. For example death."
Caleb clenched his fist and spoke louder than before.
"I still belive he is fine!"
Joseph smiled at him.
"I belive as well. But it's a fact that he might be in danger as we speak. After all we don't know where did he teleport after fainting."
Caleb looked even more shaken, but catherine calmed him.
"Even if he failed in the casting, the caster will get to the point he wanted most likely, it's just that he won't be in good shape."
Caleb seemed to calm down somewhat.
"Thank you, but how do you know these things?"
Catherine laughed.
"I learned it. You guys are not the only magicians in the world."
"I see. Then excuse me for being rude."
She just chuckled.
"Back to the main point. You are not coming with us for now. But if you want we can give you the place where the mansion is, so that you can go there when you want."
"That would be appreciated."
Caleb looked somewhat uncomfortable after everything. He stood up and bow to Joseph, who was really supprised.
"I'm sorry that I was disrespectful to you before the incident."

"It is fine. You don't have to bow to me."
"I have to, because I was wrong and I admit it!"
"Thank you."
They drink in silence for a while.
"I have to go now. There might be other patients I have to look at."
They bid their greetings and Caleb walked out of the inn.
"So what now? Do we go to the next town? Or do we search for others?"
Joseph thought for a moment.
"I think we should still search for others. There might be someone in danger."
"If you say so."
They left the inn and went for a walk until the night, then they went to sleep, so they could get up early to travell further in sunlight.

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes
