《This world is strange》Chapter 21. This is where the fun begins

The black dragon was huge. It was just as big as a three story building. It roared once more. Then Joseph saw countless magical spells fly towards it. All of them blew up into it, but it looked like the dragon did not care about them. It descended closer to the city, then it stood in the air, where a blue globe was holding it back. Meanwhile the burning forest covered the sky with smoke. The only thing that was visible was the dragon.
'What the hell is that thing?!'
The ground below Joseph started to light in yellow. As he looked down he saw a giant line going through the street, joining up with other lines in other streets. The place was almost empty, only a few elfs were running towards Elder Bran's house. He was the only one standing. When he realized this he started to run as well.
As he watched the streets it seemed like the whole city was a magic circle. The dragon was pounding the barrier, which cracked more and more with each hit. When he got to the elder's house it broke through. As he looked at the house he saw Elder Bran standing outside holding a staff up. Blood flew out of his eyes and mouth as he shouted.
"I will not allow you to kill everyone!"
He noticed Joseph and looked at him with a sour smile.
"I'm sorry!"
The whole city lit up as the magic circle activated. Everything, except for the elder's house, got swallowed up by the light including the dragon. Elder Bran's body started to turn into countless balls of light and he disappeared.
Joseph heard the familiar woman's voice again.
"This is not good! I'll get you out of there!"
Everything went black. After a few seconds he was standing in the prairie again. The forest was totally gone. There was only smoke in the place of it. Joseph turned into a statue after seeing this.

"What just happened?"
He heared the woman chuckle.
"Amazing! He actually pulled it through!"
"What?"
"That elf used up all the power of the forest to kill the dragon. So much power to sacrifice! Such an honorable deed..."
When the smoke started to dissapate he saw something in the middle of the empty place.
"... and such a foolish thought!"
A loud roar soared through the sky as the dragon breathed black flame on the last house in the whole place and burnt it in a second. Joseph was stunned again.
"It didn't work?"
He heared the woman laugh.
"You can't kill that thing with a flashlight like that! Noone ever made a scratch on it. I'm actually supprised it took thousands of years for it to get here!"
Thousands of years?
"What is that dragon anyway? And why are you not stopping it?"
"Why would I? It makes the world move forward it is one of the best source of fun in this plane of existence!"
"It is fun for you to watch it destroy everything?"
She was silent for a little bit.
"Everything? No! This thing is called Draco Nigrum, or as the elfs called it, the Dragon of Balance. It makes chaos to make balance! It destroys everything that is unnatural."
Joseph was confused even more.
"So you call this place out of balance?"
"Hahaha! What would you call a place isolated from the world, by three little spirit, balanced? It just makes the world separate. Now it will join back, as the three spirits of the old age dies trying."
"What spirits are you talking about?"
"Isn't it obvious? The three "gods" as the elfs called them. These little things created a barrier around a mountain and called it a different world. But now the dragon got through the barrier and it will destroy this place. Two spirits already felt, now there is only one left."

While they were talking the dragon started to fly towards them.
"Is it coming for me?"
"You? Hmmm... That is a really good question."
"What do you mean?"
"You know how I got you here. Maybe because of it the dragon won't like you. But I think it's not a problem for now."
"For now? You mean this place is the priority?"
The dragon flew over them.
"Yes! It will destroy and devour everything in it's way! All the places, all the creatures, all the energy! I think you will be the last one staying here. But don't worry! I'll take you out of here when the show is finished."
'Everything?'
Joseph fell on his knee and tears started to flow from his eyes. He couldn't belive it.
"I have to help them!"
The woman laughed.
"What can you do against it? Use your little spells and tickle it? Or scratch it's back?"
"I... I don't... know...."
Meanwhile the illusion on the prairie broke and they saw the dragon pouring black flame on the city. Then the whole city lit up in a blue light and disappeared from the place. The woman clapped.
"Clever! They teleported instead of trying to fight it! If they got to a safe place they might just survive it."
The dragon breathed in the air and doing it the whole place lost every living things from it. Then it flew away lazily towards the mountains. Joseph was left alone in the middle of a grey land.
"Look at the bright side. The ones from the city survived and the dragon is not chasing them, or us. Now let us leave."
He was still on the ground. He did not want to stay up. It was more than enough for him. He came into this world to have fun, to go on adventures, to get companions, to kill evil things. But after he arrived he only saw everyone die around him. A month of peace is all he had. Then he lost everything in less than an hour.
"I don't care anymore. Take me where you want."
"Hey! Don't be like that! This is where the fun begins!"
