《Emperor Of The North [Dropped]》Chapter 61: A Three Man Mission

"You are an idiot." Silvertower slammed the table in front of him. "What do you mean by attacking a fortress with only by yourself?"

"I will not be alone. Fionnlagh will be with me if I need to say" I answered his question.

The Dwarven King turned his back to me and raised his hands to the air. "Thank goodness! What reassuringly good news is that. An idiot who is supposed to be our leader and his pet salamander goes on an adventure."

Only around five hundred enemies are protecting my target. It wouldn't be hard for me to kill some of them and raise a group of undead soldiers that I will use to capture the place.

"I agree with Dwarf, I can predict your plans to a certain degree, but no matter what, two against five hundred is too much," Arthur added.

"I know, but there is always the risk of this being a trap, and I cannot go there with an army."

They must understand one thing, I can escape from most if not all situations by flying away, thanks to Fionnlagh, but my army cannot.

Arthur began stroking his chin. "Then what do you say for a three-person squad. Go in, kill their leader, and let the rest escape?"

A group of three, and that group probably contains me, him, and Silvertower. Well, I can see that working to a certain degree, but..."

Arthur gave me a threatening glare. "I cannot let you throw your life away with all of the responsibility you currently have. Now, answer me, can Fionnlagh carry all three of us."

"I suppose Fionnlagh can. He carried Silvertower and me before."

A cheerful and strong voice shook the whole building. "Then let me grab ma weapons and go on a little adventure."

As the sun went to sleep and the moon took its place, we landed in a position near our target.

"What do you say, Silvertower. Shall we take the flying approach and dive into the fortress?" I asked.

"No, there is no need." He pointed to the fortress's gate. "Even from here, I can tell this gate is damaged, and I can pull it out from its place with strength."

Arthur drew his new mithril sword and slid his fingertips near its blade. "Then let's start the fun."

"Just give me a second." Silvertower began moving towards the fortress and caused it to go on an alarm state.

Tens of archers and crossbowmen lined up at the walls and began shooting towards the giant, slowly moving towards them. Unfortunately for those poor bastards, not even a single arrow or bolt is damaging his wall-like armor.

And in no time, he reached the fortress's gate, then he stopped and began thinking about something.

"Now, now, this will take some strength." Silvertower grabbed the portcullis from its empty parts and began pulling it.

I am once again impressed by the strength of my friend, but his power terrifies me more than it makes me impressed.

"Haaaa!" Silvertower shouted as rubble dropped from the worn-out fortress walls as Silvertower almost pulled the thing out of its place. What a terrifying feat of strength!

A group of ten or more raiders reached the gate and began poking Silvertower with pole weapons and spears from the holes of the portcullis, but Dwarven King wasn't bothered by it.

It resembles when he rushed in the middle of the enemy forces in the riot at The Dwarven fortress, where hundreds of strikes and cuts coming to his body didn't stop him.

I suppose being turned into an undead killed some of his nerves and turned him into something that doesn't feel pain. I am really impressed by this transformation.

"Stop that thing."

"For the sake of Goddes, what is wrong with this creature."

And from the coming words of our enemy, I say they are impressed at least much as me.

"Haha! That toothpicks of yours are nothing but an annoyance for me." Ancient Dwarven King laughed as he finally managed to rip the barrier from its place and throw it towards the enemy right behind it.

Portcullis crushed whatever it hit and either killed or mortally wounded its victims. I am more scared of my allies than my enemies.

"What you say, one with the least heads shall treat the others with a drink," Arthur smirked and began running towards the enemy fortress.

"Then prepare your pouch!" I began following him from behind.

"Then what are we waiting for, for the ring to bell?" A silver light covered Arthur's body, and the swordsman suddenly flashed towards the nearest enemy, and in a blink of an eye, he killed the enemy, then he flashed once again and killed one more.

Anyone who is shocked or not wearing armor is an easy point for Arthur right now.

I began looking around to see any enemies not killed by Arthur or Silvertower.

But between a terrifyingly fast knight and a giant ripping steel armor like paper is not making that process any easy.

"Bingo." I saw a lone enemy trying to escape from our wrath, and unfortunately for him, even if he manages to escape from the fortress, he will die.

I ordered Fionnlagh to hunt for any escapers, so he either dies here or outside.

You can escape from me, then from my giant friend who can rip steel plates like paper, and even from our fast knight, but not from the overly evolved lizard in the sky.

I began running towards the lone raider with The Butcher in my hand.

The poor guy stopped looking around began running away as he saw me, but the moment he stepped outside his hiding place, a sword stabbed him in the neck.

Arthur pushed the corpse with his leg and winked at me, then flashed to another enemy a second later.

I sighed and dropped my ax to the ground. "If nothing outside is alive, then I must enter to the inside."

Then I looked around until I saw the nearest door to the fortress's interior, and began moving towards it at the minute I saw it.

But when I just got near it, I heard a shout from my back.

"Incoming!"

It was Silvertowers voice, and he was right on calling.

A raider corpse was flying towards me like a bullet, and I suppose my giant friend threw it towards this way.

Thankfully I managed to act fast and move away, but these two need to control their strength. Our enemies might not be saints, but they are still living beings.

"Slow down a little!" I shouted to Silvertower and turned back to the door.

The corpse's impact destroyed the door and shattered its wooden pieces around.

Other than that, one unfortunate bastard was right behind the door. I say the impact killed him.

The strength of my allies terrifies me more than my enemies. Anyways, long corridors are waiting for me.

I took my first step inside and began walking through the fortress's interior.

Unlike the many buildings I had been through, this one doesn't have much decoration or things like that.

"Halt! Maybe the ones outside might be dangerous, but you are the greedy one, aren't you?"

I turned towards where the sound came from and saw a group of six raiders blocking the way. I suppose I got caught in their little ambush.

They stand in a tight formation, and all have weapons with good reach. Reasonably, I must take this battle to another place, for example, somewhere open that will allow me to use my sword better.

Unlucky for them, and to myself, I have no plans for thinking logically or reasonably.

So, let the mana flow through my body and concentrate inside my hand. Let it turn into flames and scream with agony.

Flame spear!

Now I can feel a warmth inside my hand. A ball of fire is spinning and screeching. Ready to be thrown to my enemies.

I stretched my body and threw the spear towards the raiders. As usual, when the magical projectile got out of my hand, it launched itself forward with an explosion and began flying towards the enemy at high speed.

"Fuck!" A sound came from one of the raiders right before the screaming spear hit their ranks and exploded.

Using this moment, I dashed towards them and began my slaughter.

I thrust my sword to the nearest enemy's throat and separated his head from his body, and I immediately turned towards others.

The bastard who got hit by the spear died on impact, but the ones standing on his right and left weren't.

It will be best of this world to fix that.

I grabbed the one on the left and threw him towards the one lying on the right, then finished both of their miserable lives with a single thrust of my sword that got through their bodies.

Only one is left, and he is trembling on the ground. "Please spare my life. I can show you where the valuables are. Gold, jewelry, and more! That's what you want, right?"

"I don't care for gold nor any other treasure this place may possess."

"Slaves!" He began screaming for mercy. "We have slaves." Then I will free them after killing you. "We have Elven slaves inside. they are both beautiful and worth at least a thousand gold!!"

I stopped the blade of my sword near the man's right eyeball.

Elven. Maybe like the ones in Tolkien's middle world, then adding one more race into my soup of people shouldn't be that bad.

"Show me where they are, and I might let you live."

Bastard nodded with his head and got up from the ground.

"Your weapons."

"Yes, sir." He dropped his spear to the ground and pushed it away with his foot. Smart dog.

"Now, move." I pushed him from the back, and the man immediately began moving in a direction.

There is no sound but his shivering, our footsteps, and cling of my armor inside the fortress.

Everything is almost too quiet if it wasn't far from the sound of battle outside.

"You. What's your name?"

Man stopped and looked at me. "Did you ask that to me? Sir?"

I didn't answer that stupid question but glared at him instead.

"My name is Mec, sir."

Hmm. "Okay, Mec, let's go back to walking and answer some of my questions meanwhile."

Mec nodded and turned back to walking. "Ask anything you want, sir."

"What the hell happened into this kingdom. Civil war, why it began? Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but I am a stranger to this land."

"Sorry, sir. I am at least alien to that topic as you, but far as rumors say, everything got caused by a power struggle between the now-dead king and his bastard brother."

So, the story checkout.

I opened my mouth again to ask another question, but Mec stopped me.

"We arrived." He pointed towards a spiral staircase. "Just follow the stairs to one floor belove, and you will reach the slave chambers."

"Thank you for your services." I grabbed

Mec from his throat and snapped his neck. I don't need any bandits.

But something is making me feel sick. Something disgusting comes from the slave chambers. I don't know what it is, but I am sure that finding it wouldn't be fun.

I began following the stairs to the floor below. "At least the whole place is illuminated by torches," I said to myself as I reached the end of the staircase and found a big iron door.

The door is open, and right behind it, there is a large hall, nota so illuminated, unlike the rest of the construction.

I grabbed a torch from the wall and entered the room.

"No."

Terror of the image I just saw sent a chill into my spine.

Corpses of elves, chained to the walls or lying on the ground. Mutilated, dismembered, tortured, some even raped.

I reached the closest one to me.

She is completely nude, not even wearing a piece of rag in cold of this realm. Some of her fingers are missing, and scars from tortures shine under the light of my torch.

Other corpses seem to be sharing a similar fate. Too inhumanly, even for standards of outlaws.

I suppose that asshole was trying to pull me in here and attack me at the moment I got distracted. How unsurprising, maybe even thinking about locking me inside.

My faith in this world is slowly falling. I know the earth and human society we have is not perfect, but in a world that is supposed to be shaped by gods and their goodwill. Things are just not right.

The cry of a baby echoed inside the dungeon chamber.

I turned towards the sound and saw a basket on the ground.

I quickly moved towards the basked and pulled the thin fabric covering it. Right behind it, a baby was lying inside. "How unexpected." I gently picked the basket from the ground. "Poor creature, you must be shivering because of the cold."

I wrapped her with the fabric and blanket inside the basket, but that wouldn't be enough. I finally put my cloak on top of her.

"Let's get you to somewhere better, shall we?" I hugged the baby and began carefully moving outside.

But the baby in my arms began struggling and showing signs of discomfort, so I increased my speed to reach the outside faster.

Hopefully, these two finished what they were doing.

****

There is no need to hope, but I might want to pray for the dead enemies. Corpses, stabbed, cut, ripped in half by brute strength, cover the ground.

In one corner, Arthur, covered in blood, stands on top of a mountain of corpses. His current state reminds me of the time we attacked a fortress together. He was skewering enemy soldiers like they were vegetables.

On the other corner, Silvertower sits on the ground next to a wall with a hole.

"Objective is complete, and I want to go home fast as we could." I whistled to call Fionnlagh.

Wyvern quickly responded to my call and landed right next to me.

I grabbed my ax from the ground before climbing onto the Wyverns back. I cannot leave such a precious weapon behind.

Neither Arthur nor Silvertower talked, and they both climbed on Wyvern's back.

Except for one sentence that came from Arthur. "Where the hell did you find that thing. You know what? I am not even going to ask about it."
