Chapter 8: Blacksmithing Blues
‘Hey Faefae, how do I do this whole Blacksmithing thing? I got the sub-classes but never used it yet. Also how does the repair function work?’ –Me
‘Easy, just take out your portable furnace and blacksmithing hammer. If you want to repair you have to put the item on the furnace and place the hammer on it and say repair. Of course at level 1 you will only be able to repair gear up to level 10 and so on and so forth. Also there are no level limits on crafting, if you can get the ore, you can level up to 10.’ –Faefae
‘Great, well I’m almost level 3 in Mining and all I had to do was hit the Pickaxe on the ore sight and ore would drop to the ground so I guess Blacksmithing should be the same.’ –Me
Thus I walked over to the vendors and pulled out my portable furnace and removed stealth.
*GASP*
And I’m an idiot. Of course a Red name popping out of nowhere will scare people. Oh well, only an idiot would attack me so I’m just going to start smelting my Ore. Let’s see put ore on furnace and say smelt. Hahahahaha that works. I guess to craft I just need to open my recipe list and put out the materials and say craft or something stupid like that. I love how easy this game is.
“Hey it’s a red name, what is he doing?” –Random noob 1
“Who cares, he is in the crafting/vendor area and cannot be attacked. Just ignore him until he leaves.” –Random noob 2
“Ahh good point, he also is smelting ore so he must be crafting something.” –Random noob 1
2 hours later
“Holy shit, how much ore is he going to smelt? What is he crafting? Does he have a legendary recipe already?” –Random noob 1
“He’s level 19 so the best recipe he could have at this time would be a level 20 Green or Bronze item, nothing legendary about that.” –Random noob 2
“Ahh good point, let’s see what he makes, then if it’s good let’s plan to kill him as it’s sure to drop since he’s Red!” –Random noob 1
This caused the second noob to shake his head. It’s obvious which of the two is smart and which is dumb. Glad none of it bothers me as I’m finally done smelting my few thousands of ore! Too bad smelting only gives experience for the current tier, so I only reached level 3 then stopped at 0% in. But now I can craft and hopefully reach level 3 in Blacksmithing!
So I put a stack of copper ore on the furnace and then opened my recipe list to see what I could make. Let’s see Copper Boots, Legs, Chest, Helm, and Gloves… 5 recipes. Well let’s check their stats first before I cry.
So I made one of each and am too embarrassed to even show the stats to anyone. All of them have 2 defense and no other stats and are usable at level 1. Which is fine, but they are all classified as Heavy armor meaning only fighters and some healers can use them! How lame is that?

‘Faefae wtf is up with this crap?’ –Me
‘You only get basic recipes that are used for grinding experience, if you want a rare recipe you have to do fancy quests or kill mobs that might drop it like Dwarves. And though those items are not worth any money, they can still be salvaged for copper bars!’ –Faefae
‘Hah forgot about the salvage feature!’ –Me
So I put all the pieces of gear on my furnace and yelled salvage while hitting them with my hammer and they broke into bars. Well not many bars but about as many as half as what was used to make them. Meaning if I have 2000 bars (and I do) and it takes 2 bars to craft a pair a boots (and it does) I can make 3 pairs of boots per 4 bars and still have a bar left over! So really only the first pair of boots cost 2 bars, every pair afterwards cost 1 bar!
And thus I made boots until my skill hit level 2, then I put the rest of the bars in my inventory never to be seen again as I never knew when I’d die and drop them or loot a recipe that can be sold for gold!
‘Okay I hit level 2, got any recipes for me?’ –Me
‘You get basic recipes automatically so just use those, I’m not able to give you any advanced ones.’ –Faefae
‘Lame!’ –Me
Now I only have 1500 Tin bars and it takes 4 to make a pair of boots which have a level 10 requirement and give good defense. Apparently going up a tier makes a difference. So I made sure to make 5 sets in case they will be worth money later. Then I did like before and made boots until level 3. Sadly I no longer got experience the moment I hit level 3 as I required the next stage of ore.
Well this is a level 20 dungeon in front of me, so maybe I should go farming for ore!
Forgetting all about my plans to kill everyone in sight, I decided to just kill mobs near the ore deposits and ignore the rest.
Once I got about halfway into the dungeon I found my first level 20 ore deposit! Only instead of the bronze I was looking for, I got iron!
‘Faefae why is there Iron here? Iron is a level 4 ingredient! I can’t even mine it yet!’ –Me
‘What are you daft? Everyone knows to make Bronze you mix copper and tin. Oh but you need coal or some other product that burns just right to make it.’ –Faefae
This made me check my massive inventory and notice I had nothing I could use to smelt Bronze. Fortunately I still had like 1500 Copper bars and 1000 Tin bars or I’d be upset! But before I could turn around and run back to the entrance to see if I can’t buy some coal something crazy happened.
Now it must be noted that I am in full on crafting mode and have both forgotten the fact that I am a red name and the fact that I’m pretty strong once I use Piercing Aura.
Now before I could restealth and run back to the entrance, which wasn’t too far since I was still on the first floor, I hear a scream from behind me and saw the scariest thing ever! As I turn around I saw a huge ass Demon monster running right towards me with a two handed axe! Now it must also be noted that I am right around a corner as the iron deposit was in a weird spot, so it’s not possible for things on the other side to even see me, let alone charge and attack me.

But my scared self couldn’t thing straight so the first thing I did was pull out both my daggers and activate Piercing Aura. Then before the axe-Demon could even position the axe in a striking pose, I attacked twice with my combo killing the Demon instantly!
*DING*
Level up!
“Yay you reached level 20!” –Faefae
Leave it to Faefae to ignore the obvious and go to the important things. As it wasn’t until I heard the ding that I realized the only way for me to level is if the Demon thing I just killed was a person and not some monster from the abyss trying to eat my soul. This made me remember I was playing a video game and my goal is to kill others, preferably those of the other faction though, not Demons!
It was then that I noticed the axe on the ground, so I picked it up and inspected it.
Great Axe of the Demon (Bronze)Attack:290-347Durability:89%Power: 77
Speed: 35
Stamina: 54
Requirements: Level 20
This caused me to peak around the corner to see what was chasing the mad Demon. It was then that I saw a huge floor boss that was turning around and going the other direction. I guess when its prey was killed he lost all aggro and went back home, as he didn’t see me at all as he never made it to my corner. That means the one I killed was most likely important and leader of a guild or group of people. Also now that I think about it, I think the Demon was a she. I recall curves before I attacked.
But this item is way too hot! No way can I keep it or even sell it! I must make nice! As I was checking the combat log to see who it was I killed I received a friend quest.
Lilith has sent a friend request.
Rut roh. Anyone named Lilith can’t be good. One has to be special to get a name like that. Of course I accepted however.
‘What the fuck do you think you are doing killing me? Do you know who I am? And you better give me back my axe or there will be hell to pay!’ –Lilith
‘Um.. I’m sorry miss, it was a total accident I swear! I thought you were a boss monster that aggro’d on me when I was mining. I promise to give back the axe!’ –Me
‘HMPF, you had better!’ –Lilith
‘Hey if you are returning from the city is there any chance you could buy some crafting materials for me? I need 1000 pieces of coal, I’ll pay!’ –Me
‘Fine, but only because they are cheap and only 1 copper per 10 or you would be out of luck! You better wait for me at the entrance too as you aren’t going to get off the hook that easily!’ –Lilith
‘Yes ma’am!’ –Me
‘Don’t ma’am me! I’m only 21! Call me Queen or Mistress only!’ –Lilith
What is up with this girl. Oh well I don’t need unnecessary trouble. Anyone who can have this axe this early in the game is rich in real life. No other would use it!
‘Yes Mistress…’ –Me
Better play it safe, don’t want to die!
‘Hahahahaha know your place. You serve me now, wait at the entrance!’ –Lilith
I just sighed and did the longest walk of shame ever to the entrance of the dungeon.
Apparently I walk pretty slow because as soon as I got to the entrance I saw an extremely beautiful and pissed off Demon standing around tapping her foot.
“Hey, I’m here.” –Me
“Took you long enough, now give me my axe and take all this stupid coal!” –Lilith
So I gave her 1 silver and the axe and she gave me a thousand pieces of the most beautiful coal ever! Sure it was regular coal, but now I could reach level 4 in Mining and then mine some Iron!
Lilith has invited you to a party.
“You are mine now, so accept!” –Lilith
No need to say what I did next.
You have Joined the party.
“Buahahahahaha a Blademaster! You are lucky I only had a sliver of life or you would never have been able to kill me! I’m the strongest warrior ever! My normal attacks hit for 500 and my strongest hit for 3000!” –Lilith
I really hate my class now by the way.
“Come, help me kill the first floor boss, he’s a rare spawn and with you tanking it should be easy!” –Lilith
“One second, I have to use this coal first before I go back in there!” –Me
“Fine but be fast!” –Lilith
So I went back to the safe zone and started smelting 1000 pieces of copper and tin to create 2000 pieces of bronze. Fortunately it was enough to get my mining to level 4 or I’d be screwed. But in hindsight it would have to be since there are no bronze deposits, that means the only way to reach level 4 mining is to smelt bronze!
While smelting I took time to finally check out my new party member. She’s 5’9” which means in real life she is between 5’7” and 5’11” since Demons get to change their height by 2 inches. But I doubt she changed her height, I mean she is gorgeous! Surely she changed your boobs as they are solid D cups. She has the standard Black hair but unlike me, her eyes are red instead of white. I guess there are different types of Demons so that could be normal, or maybe I’m just the weird one as it’s not like I checked out many Demons to see.
But her face was on the cute side, even though she was scowling there is no way to hide her beauty. So either she changed her boobs and face to make herself hotter or she could have changed her eyes and just was that hot in real life. Who cares, right now she is my eye candy and I’m going to monopolize it! Too bad I have no clue how to talk to women!
‘Faefae can you help me talk to women?’ –Me
‘No.’ –Faefae
Well there goes that idea… I guess it is time to stop smelting and finally get this over with. I wonder what she will make me do, I did cost her a level after all…
