《Fall of the Seven Kings》(Prologue)Befriending My Inner demon

Hunter coughed, blood splattered across the ground.
“You could always turn back.” The bandaged man laughed
“Shut up, King” Hunter snapped back “I’m in this situation because of you!”
“Now now no need for that attitude, I warned you about our ability” The bandaged man snickered at Hunter “Every ‘Act’ in your ability will take a toll on your body”
“You didn’t tell me that I’d vomit blood after using one ‘Act’!” Hunter yelled at the man. Hunter sat down and closed his eyes to think
A few days ago Hunter had finally developed his ability, after 7 excruciating years of waiting. His ability had been sealed when he first used it, after that the priest's of the church had called him a demon and kept him locked in the cellar so that no one would see him. Hunter snorted, opening his eyes to view his surroundings. The bodies of the priests now scattered across the floor of the church, every single one had a smile on their faces while the rest of their body or what was left of their bodies had become mangled wrecks.
“So how does it feel, dear ability holder?” The bandaged man cackled as he effortlessly picked up one of the bodies and started moulding it as if it was now clay. “What shall we call the Act? ‘Slaughter of Peasants’? ‘Turmoil of endless Tragedies’? “
“Shut up,”Hunter spat at the corpses of the priests.Hunter was reminded of a quote as he kicked one of the bodies away from him “‘Lamb to the Slaughter’ ….. That sounds about right, they deserved it”
“Very poetic, I like it” Hunter saw the smile of the man through the bandages “By the way, since I’m part of your ability no one but you can see me”

“That's for the best,” Hunter scoffed back at his unusual partner in crime. King had appeared when he developed his ability, Hunter almost pissed himself the first time he looked at King, who wouldn’t? When a man is bandaged from head to toe with what seemed to be blood constantly oozing from the gaps of his bandage, with one eye and a mouth which was the only thing that could be seen, a picture of him would be enough to make a grown man scream. What was worse was when King spoke it sounded like both a female and male rasping in unison.
“What’s the plan?” King said putting down the flesh ball that was once the head priest.
“Well for one I have to see the situations of the Kings, before I was locked away there were only 3 who had actually actually gotten the title of king” Hunter said as he picked up the newspaper that was lying on the ground. He skimmed the paper until he saw the headline, “The Five Kings have made an alliance to protect the people of Alagandda”
“A likely story” King was laughing “They call themselves king? On whose authority?”
“On the authority of society” Hunter replied as he poured gasoline on the bodies and the floor of the church. “But let's get out of here before someone notices something is wrong”
Hunter picked up a match that was beside the candles that the priests were using for praying. When something caught his eye, Hunter looked at the notes that the head priest had been going over, as he read his eyes got wider.
“No way…. King you told me that I was a King right?” Hunter's hands started shaking as the words came out of his mouth.
“Hm? Yeah what about it?” King walked over to Hunter and started reading “Well that's only for humans we deities have a different way of saying it, Wait”

Kings finger skimmed over the line Hunter had stopped reading “HAHAHAHA, you're worried that I lied to you?” King's cackle echoed through the church.
Hunter threw a lit match into a pool of gasoline before slamming the door behind him. “You're going to explain exactly what is going on, that file said that there are only supposed to be 6 Kings, How can I be a King if the file said there are 6?”
“And you're going to trust a file that came from the people that locked you up for seven years?” King looked as if he would have had a sneer on his face if his face wasn’t bandaged up.
“True, but you're still going to have to make your point on how I can trust you,” Hunter said, walking into a crowd of people with gaping mouths open at the scene of the church being burnt to the ground. “I’m not going to trust you just because your part of my ability”
“Oh please,” King snapped back “You think I want to be here? I'm only here because you manifested me. I would rather be with Satan”
“Satan?” Hunter stopped and raised an eyebrow at his companion “Like the king of hell? The Lucifer guy?”
“Well I wouldn’t call him king” King walked forward with a shrug. “But Lucifer nonetheless”
“Ok, enough of your friends with the demon king, I'm going to have to find a new name for you, King doesn’t suit it for me” Hunter said shaking his head as he rubbed his forehead “How about Bassa?”
“Fine with me” Bassa shrugged again “where are we heading to?”
“Well seeing how I’m only 16 I think the first thing is to gain a little knowledge don’t you?” Hunter said with a smirk on his face “First place is the school, I'm going to gather some information on the events that happened when I was locked in that cellar”
“Shall we burn the school?, force them to kneel?” Bassa licked his non-existent lips with a cruel smile on his face “We could tear them limb by limb and watch each of them scream in pain?”
"Shut up, let me think" Hunter watched as the school that he had once imagined himself attending come into full view, then he thought 'Where a better place to ruin a society but the roots of its education?'

Jasper Debolt Reardon is the main character's name. He works as a personal investigator. He doesn't look into mundane crimes, however. He's a night owl who looks into strange phenomena that happen at night. It's not easy being a paranormal investigator. When anything out of the ordinary occurs, few individuals are willing to admit it. Even fewer are willing to engage a private investigator. Usually, by the time people get to Jasper's doorstep, things are out of control; like last month, when he had to banish a poltergeist from the new home of a very rich business tycoon. After he sent the haunt on its way, Mr. Money-bags changed his mind about the possibility of ghosts and refused to pay, claiming Jasper was a charlatan who conned his gullible, young wife. The wife was not only young and gullible-she was also bored and dissatisfied in her marriage. So, in a way, Jasper got him back. Anyway, Jasper isn't here because he wants to be. He's here because something is always pulling him back to these stories. Something like a phenomenon called "system". Psycho killers, the mob, and even black magic. Getting Hard (Journey of a Tank)
Herald Stone always built tank characters in every MMORPG he played. To be immortal—that was his first Goal, a simple childhood dream. However, the turbulent realities of life put an end to his gaming days. Years passed, and Herald Stone, now having attained success and stability, was presented with the opportunity to redeem himself...to fulfill his first Goal. Trivial? Childish? Others might think so. But Herald Stone always fulfilled his Goals—every single one. No matter what. Immortality beckoned in Mother Core Online, and this time Herald Stone would answer. Choosing a long-forgotten race, hidden away in an unknown region, the journey of an immortal tank begins. This is the tale of Herald Stone...getting hard. Schedule: Mon-Wed-Fri ~1.8k-2.3k words per chapter. Also published on Scribblehub. My other ongoing story: REND | Royal Road Expect a focus on building a true tank in MMORPGs. Heavy game elements and numbers are present. But actual math will take a backseat to strategies involving skill builds and synergies that steadily become more complex while remaining understandable. The main character is atypical in LitRPGs or web novels as a whole. He might take some getting used to. Character arcs will develop over a long period. What you see now will be different as the main character changes. The start of Getting Hard is slow-paced (more so than others of the genre) and includes world-building and character development before focusing on the LitRPG.
