《Life Sentence》Love is for the Weak

He slips his hands under my shirt and my body spasms and quivered from the shock. I place my hands at his rear to lift and maneuver him carefully so that he’s lying on his back on the edge of the bed.

Madness and heat consume us both and are about to drive us mad unless we act now. I stand erect then yanked my shirt from over my head. I go back at it, pressing my lips to his and feeling the searing heat. Our lips are locked as I lie on top of him and encase him in my cocoon of impending ecstasy when pain struck me from behind.

A 'pain' so intense yet so familiar that I quickly gathered it was no more than an incoming vision.

I clasp my eyes in the heat of the moment as I clenched up from the intermingling pain and pleasure that had befallen me.

A vision…unlike those before it

Where am I?

((“Alex? Alex, where are you?” I shouted as I frantically searched through the engine room. I bent a steep corner, grazing a metal bar only to find answers that I wasn’t ready for. There, lying just below a broken pipe was a body.))

((“Oh no!” I gave out.))

((He had been killed, and the opening in his side pooled the blood around him.))

((“I warned you,” a voice said, walking from behind.))

((I was surprised, but unshaken “You don’t have to do this…”))

((“Oh, but I do,” the killer said with a smirk on his face. He lifted the gun to my face and then “BANG” an explosion. The east wing of the prison above had been destroyed by a bomb, and the tremor shifted the direction of his hand thus allowing the bullet to miss me. I lunged myself at him.))

((Nick!))

"Nick!"

Huh?

“Nick, what’s wrong?” A troubled face, one no longer aroused, gaped from beneath me as my lower region had clearly fallen flat.

I quickly shifted from above him and to the side, grabbing a hold my face and rubbing my eyes in the process.

My behavior puzzled him. One moment we were locking lips and about to engage in what I can only imagine would be a riveting sexual conquest for me and the most enjoyable climatic moment of his life. What was meant to be both equally great and romantic experiences for both of us was now turned into a moment of unanswered questions, awkward pillow talk and a quest for answers.

“Was it something I did?” He innocently attempts to atone, “Because I can fix whatever it is, I think.”

“No, no, no!” I quickly declare. “You did nothing wrong. I’m just suddenly not feeling well.”

By averting my gaze from his and continued rubbing my eyes, I attempted to put on a show as though to appear unwell.

“Oh,” He solemnly responds.

“Maybe I should get some rest.” I persisted.

He disconcertingly complied to my plea. “Yeah, sure.” And he rose up from my bed to drag his shirt back on.

“You should get some rest too.” I cautiously added. “We have a big day tomorrow, and we ought to stay focus.”

He looked at me dodgy and cross-eyed, clearly in a state of unrest from what had just transpired. “Yeah, got it.”

He left, and I shut the door behind him.

As he did so, I recalled the final moments of my vision, replaying it again and again in my head in a desperate attempt to try and catch the blur that was my assailant's face.
