C'mon Norbert. You can do this. You gotta. The highway doesn't end, it even branches off to that nuclear fusion plant.
"Norbert, you understand what'll happen if you don't make it there in time?" "Yeah, yeah, fate of the world. I'll get there, Gladius."
I smash through the gates and brake. I charge inside with a gas can and hold my gun up. A man grabs his radio as I raise my
gun, "Intrud-" He drops and I rush to him, "Got the idiot. Charged at me with a pistol." *Alright.*
I switch clothes with him and a monster charges down the road, bigger than any of them. I shout into the radio, "Lock it all down! Right now!" I get inside and blast doors come down. "Shut it all down." *What is that thing?!*
I groan, "Shut it down right now, or whatever that thing is, will kill us all." A loud crash comes from the other side of the blast door. *Run, I'll close the doors behind you.* "Yeah!"
I back up, another loud crash ping bolts off the walls. I pull a grenade's pin as he breaks through, shifting the air in the hallway. I throw the grenade at the horde coming through. The door closes, crushing a couple that almost get past. The rotten smell of dead animal fills the room.
*Grab that welder!* I turn and run into the next chamber. *It's all hooked up.* I grab the nozzle and start welding the edges of the door after it shuts. I take a deep breath of the metal dust and toxic fumes. A second later, they bend the door. A fist bent the door like nothing.
Gladius was an idiot. We can't stop them, only delay them. "Close them all!" *Hurry through, now!* I run past, each of the gates shut in a split second. The monsters pick up the pace, breaking the doors faster than they drop

The guy with the lab coat yells on the speakers in front of armored soldiers, "Keep going, do not let them inside the reactor room!" I pour gas all over the last wall as they break through, a giant wall of black greets us. They've fused together. The smell of death comes back.
I step forward, "Come on, you vile, inhuman, cold blooded nightmares!" They try to charge, but the gas catches fire. They flail and squeal amongst a hail of bullets. A minigun falls from the ceiling by a tether. *Join in!* I raise that fucker up and let her rip. See you soon, Whiskey.

Vast Asleep
The story of Kingard the Binder in the aftermath of Broken This short story is the epilogue of Broken, the second book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. It’s a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers but is set apart from the full-length narrative. Vast Asleep follows the story of Kingard, who finds himself caught in a world called Mother's realm, bathed in glowing light but strangely stuck in place. He encounters his greatson Varyan there, and learns that his experiences are likely dreams. As he grows more accustomed to the loving realm around him, Kingard remembers fear and trepidation about the face of the world, and he loses contact with his companion. This story answers the question, Is Kingard really dead? with a tentative no, and new mysteries brewing. It also raises the question, What's happening while he's awake? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Ride Awake, about Kingard's situation with the Colkh'rak. Praise for Tales of the Known World Bookends: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between the epilogue and prologue is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well. -- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★

World War Academy [DROPPED]
EDIT: Hello, as you can tell this story is dropped. reason why this is the case is that I really didn't know where I was going to take this story and really, I wasn't satisfied with how I was writing here. However I am currently writing a completely new story and with it is that I am taking some aspects from here and using the ideas on my new story. New characters, new ideas, new plot, everything is completely new. So I hope that goes well and i'll leave this story up as reference for me in the future. Thank you Akani Kizuato. An 18 year old that recently started to live on his own to get away from life. With his sister and father dead from the wars as they fought in, he tried to continue life and tried not to let it get in his way. It may seem that way but with his whole life planned out, it may not seem to be. He had been rejected from all universities within the nation despite being top of his class, which is very unusual because even local colleges rejected him. It was as if he was banned to go to any of those places but uknowingly why. As he ranted, and relieved stress on the school rooftop, he had received an email from an anonymous source saying that he was accepted into some academy, which he had never heard of before. With events that lead up to his mysterious encounter with people who are there to take him, it may be quite a ride. Cover art made in Adobe Spark.
