《The Silver Sabertooth》Who Is The Real Monster?

Death is around every corner, around the borders of Antonyia's cities; it used to be a vast kingdom, but during the war against the druid Hirvan's monsters, it became significantly smaller than before...

The king himself swore that he would end all of the monsters' lives; while Hirvan declared he would finish the human race, starting with the largest kingdom on the continent, Antorya.

The former druid sat inside his scary cave (which he called his castle), his best monsters at his side. They were his first supporters who helped him to stow him away gather an army. To them and the rest of the monsters, Hirvan was a god; every monster respected and loved him; they were ready to lose their lives for him, even though they knew he was an immortal and powerful being...

Hirvan began reminding his monsters of the importance of the war, why they had to win it, why they had to control the world...

"My dear creatures - or like those pitiful humans call you, monsters - you aren't the real monsters of the world...We are in a war with those humans for one reason and one reason only...We must end their race so that we can take control of this world."

All monsters yelled in unison, "YEAH! Our Lord!"

Hirvan continued, "And why must we win? My sons, we must win because we are the holy creatures that are capable of making peace in the world, and we are not like those humans...Do you know why they call themselves humans? Do you know what humanity is?

All monsters replied, "No," as they looked to each other, wondering about the meaning.

"Humanity is all about respect and love towards each other; living like one family; as equals. So tell me, my sons, who are the humans here? Them, those creatures who kill each other for their greedy needs…? Just for a small section of land, millions die and innocent blood is shed… Just so that they can to satisfy themselves, they kill each other for anything, even under the watch of their own god."

All the monsters screamed, raising their blades. "HUMANS, HUMANS, HUMANS"

"Yes, that's right the humans do that, not us, they are real monsters, not us. Their god gave them life, and they're wasting it as while asking for forgiveness at the same time...While I, your god, forgive you for all your sins from when you were human, and I forbid you from killing each other. We are holy creatures, and for these reasons, we must win to make the Earth a better place. No more wars, no more deaths, a perfect place only for us."

All monsters together cheered, "YES! our god!" They kneeled to show their respect to Hirvan, the immortal monster who somehow became a god to them.

After the speech, a monster rushed in and asked to speak with Hirvan about an important issue. Hirvan agreed to the hearing.

"My lord, I have news for you."

Hirvan lifted his chin up. "Speak, my son, tell me what it is that you have to say."

The monster began, "Me and my 3 mates, we were patrolling the city of Bartak this morning to find the gold you asked us for."

Hirvan asked, "Yes, so what happened? And where are your 3 brothers?"

The monster looked sad. "My lord, they...Well...They were…" He began to sob. "They're dead, my lord, I couldn't help them..."

Hirvan asked in shock, "What? Who did that to them? I thought there were no more humans left in the city of Bartak. What did you see, my son?"

The monster explained, "It was a human, but not just any normal human...We were walking around some ruins, and we heard someone yelling, so three of us went to check the source while I continued searching for the gold. I never thought they would die like that."

Hirvan was confused. "What? 'Not just any normal human'? What do you mean?"

The monster answered, "After I heard one of my brothers screaming, I went to go and look. I thought they were fighting a wild animal, or maybe an entire army of humans, but I looked at them through a hole in the wall to check saw something terrible. I couldn't do anything except run to come back here and warn you, my lord."

Hirvan replied, "So one human killed three holy beings all in one sitting? How is that possible? They are weaker than us, no mere human could kill three of us in this form."

The monster nodded his head. "Yes, that's what I thought, so that's why I had to return with this horrible news. This human is insanely powerful with amazing strength, I've never seen someone like him before. My lord, the last monster standing stabbed him with his sword; but this human didn't die; nor did the blood come out. He must be immortal like you."

"An immortal like me, you say. But how? There is no other human that drank from the Zeralizion's blood except for me, who did so 10 years ago. Wait, don't tell me it's him! Damn it!"

The monsters wondered aloud, "Who is this human you speak of?"

Hirvan said, "I thought he vanished years ago in the fight with Zeralizion-" the Silver Sabertooth, if a refresher is needed "-damn that man, he is the only person in history to kill the Zeralizion. He was the main warrior and leader of the squad who attacked the Zeralizion with me."

The monster questioned, "My lord, so he really is immortal? But in a human form? How?"

Hirvan answered, "I'm not exactly sure, but he is indeed another immortal being. I remember his face as he slew the beast and saved my life before I drank the beast's blood, and I owe him for that. If it weren't for him, there would be no holy beings...He got his immortality when the silver sabertooth died above him, and its blood fused with that brave warrior's blood."

The monster asked again, "So that's how he's immortal like you, but why does he remain in human form? And is he the reason the Zeralizion's body disappeared?"

Hirvan exclaimed, "Yes! After I transformed, I started killing those bastards who wanted to kill me. Moments afterwards, I heard a roar, unlike any other - the roar of a powerful beast dying. One creature who at first looked to be a man turned to kill all of them in a furious rampage. I ran away, thinking, 'I'm dying, and I don't even stand a chance against that creature.' I left the cave, realizing the power I'd received, and how I could transform humans into holy beings such as us. So I came back later, but never found anything there, as the body of Zeralizion disappeared..."

The monster says "So could it be that the man I saw is the same creature who did that? So what shall we do? How will we punish him?"

Hirvan let out a deep chuckle. "Hahaha, who says I want to punish him? No, we will not...You see, that creature has Zeralizion blood inside him, so he is enemy of humans as well. So why not, instead of fighting him, let him be on our side in this war?"

The one monster asked, "How?"

The other monsters scoffed, "That's a brilliant idea...Yeah...Sure.."

Hirvan continued, "I think he went back to the city of Bartak for a reason. That city had been left for dead many years ago, so I'm sure he returned to look for a survivor. The thing is, what if we told him that humans killed everyone there? So if he was looking for survivors and heard this, he would avenge his lost one by helping us in the war..."

The monster said, "That's a great idea, my lord, but you think he would accept? Was it really humans who killed the people in that city? Because if I remember correctly when we first reached the city, we wanted to kill everyone there - but we found it was a dead city already."

Hirvan pondered over this for a moment. "I'm not sure what happened there...I sometimes wonder too. Did the king order soldiers to kill the inhabitants? And if he did, then why? But I think the Zeralizion's killer will accept our offer to help is kill the humans who left him to suffer alone and killed his loved ones. Go and bring me that man, and tell him the god Hirvan himself asked him to come. If he is the same person I knew years ago, he will accept my request..."

The monster complied. "Alright, my lord, as you wish." The monsters left in search of the mysterious man. Meanwhile, Zeral was busy fighting with a bear in the forest...

The few soldiers left surrounded Zeral, not noticing the bear coming towards them until it let out a kid groan. The soldiers had never seen a bear as big as the one that stood before them now, so they ran, knowing that even with their numbers, they wouldn't stand a chance. Zeral tried to kill them as they ran, the bear doing the same.

Zeral stood staring at the bear. "Bear, you remind me of another one I met years ago," he stated plainly.

The bear roared in his face. Zeral wiped the bear's saliva carelessly from his face. "Is this a challenge? I promise I will not use my weapons." Zeral dropped his right sword with his outfit to the ground. "Now, we are equal. Since you issued the challenge, I will let you have the first blow, so make it hurt." The bear roared and prepared to kill Zeral...

But Zeral laughed, "Come on, hit me now, this is your chance - please don't hold back." The bear let his paw fall, delivering a hell of a strike to Zeral's head. Zeral just stood there, hardly fazed by the blow. The bear was doubly confused; this had never happened before.

Zeral burst into laughter. "Oh my, what a hit, I love it! Give me another!" The bear knew something was wrong, not believing that human could stand a single hit from his giant hands. It walked backwards in fear.

But Zeral angrily screeched, "COME ON! Hit me again...Are you running away? How dare you leave the battle?" The bear turned and began to run away, and Zeral quickly chased after him. After catching up to the bear, he hit him with such a powerful kick that the bear rolled sideways like a doll.

The bear roared in pain and fear while trying to bite Zeral. He put his hands in the bear's mouth. "You have quite a nice tongue. I want to taste it," he stated, ripping the bear's tongue from its mouth. The animal attempted to bite Zeral's hand, but couldn't cut it off because it was suffering from the pain...

Zeral began to eat the bear's tongue. "Mhm, so delicious." As the bear's blood drained from his mouth, Zeral grabbed its hanging head and wrenched it from its neck. Zeral looked into the bear's dead eyes with malice. "Don't be sad, you did well fighting me. But as you can see, I'm immortal. Nothing can hurt me, hahaha..."

The bear's blood-soaked him from head to toe. Zeral ate the remaining fleshed and washed with the animal's blood as if it were fresh bathwater. "So delicious. I want more..." Zeral let out a primal roar, plunging his hand into the chest of the corpse and ripping out its heart. Smiling and crying at the same time, he said in a melancholy voice, "My son loves bears, I gave him a little brown bear just like you as a gift on his last birthday..."

The End.
