《Redemption's Rose》8 - The plan

I dropped my arms to my side, a loud sigh escaping my mouth. “What?” she asked defiantly. I could have told her that it wasn’t safe to come with me but she knew that. I could have told her that I was planning on leaving for a long time but she knew that too. I could have told her that I didn’t want her to come but that would have been a lie.
I reached out my arm to take one of the bags from her and swung it over my back. “We need to find some protection. We should join a sect.” She threw me an apple. I took a bite out of it, the sweet juices blazed through my mouth reminding me I hadn’t eaten in days. She laughed at my expression, she must have realised I had nothing to eat. It was probably my stomach’s loud groaning. I continued to devour the apple.
“If we’re joining a sect, why not the ones nearby?”
“They don’t suit me,” I said.
“Aren’t you just being picky?” she asked with her hands on her hips.
“I have to be picky!” I argued. “My cultivation technique requires a partner and I doubt my reputation is going to work in my favour here.”
“So anywhere in, or around the city is out of the question.” She said as she walked towards the door upon a final sweep of the house. “Put this on,” she said as she took a straw hat from a hook on the wall.
“Why didn’t I think of this?” I reflected on all the times it could have come in handy, I felt slightly disappointed in myself. She chuckled as I adjusted the hat to hide my face.
“You’ve had quite a lot on your mind lately, I would imagine.” She laughed as she opened the door to leave.

“That I have,” I sighed as I followed her out.
“Then, allow me to pick the destination?” she asked, walking alongside me.
“Well, I know next to nothing about what’s outside the city so I think that’s best.” I said, cursing the old Sen'o’s lack of education.
“I’ve got a pretty good place in mind,” she smiled mysteriously as we set off.
We walked through the city, trying to stay inconspicuous. Fortunately my hat and our plain clothes were enough to keep eyes off us. We finally passed the last few houses and were greeted by the sight of a long road surrounded by acres of farmland.
Safi swivelled around to give the city a last look. I turned too, I was happy to leave it behind but would be ever thankful to it. I looked at Safi as she turned too and smiled at me.
“We best be off,” she said and turned to the road again. I jogged to catch up and we began walking.
“Care to enlighten me as to where we’re going exactly?” I asked after a minute of silence.
“Well, I read about a place called Gutura. It’s a city South of here. Buried in the trench of a large mountain to protect itself from the harsh winds and ferocious fauna inhabiting the surrounding jungle.”
“Sounds inviting,” I said a little sarcastically.
“It’s said to be the most beautiful city on the continent,” said Safi smugly.
“Well, I suppose I won’t need a sect for protection if it’s far enough away.” I said with a shrug.
“Oh, there’s a sect there as well.” she said now with a very clear grin on her face.
“Oh?”
“Oh, indeed. It’s a ruthless sect, one that is famous for its absurdly high standards.” she lectured.

“Well, I suppose you’d need high standards if you were surrounded by ferocious fauna.”
“And exposed to harsh winds,” she added.
“Ah yes, how could I forget the winds.” I said with a laugh. “So, what’s it called?”
“Hall of the Mountain Gods.” she said.
“Quite a powerful name, maybe they focus on strength techniques.” I surmised.
“There’s a division of experts within the sect called Gutura’s Mountain Gods. There are many tales based on their heroic feats.” said continued, ignoring my haphazard guess.
“You seem to be quite knowledgeable…” I said. She turned red, I realised I may have come across judgmental. “I didn’t mean that in a bad way, it’s not…”
“No, I know.” she interrupted. “I’ve just… Never really talked like this to anyone.”
“I’d be happy for you to tell me more.” I said. She laughed. “What?” I asked.
“Ah, sorry! It’s only… All my life I’ve been reading books. So much so that when I was old enough to work I got a job at the library just so I could read more. Stories were always trapped within the confines of their covers. Places like Gutura were mere words on a page.” she said, I nodded in understanding. “And you… You’ve gone from the worst thing in my life to the person that has torn the covers apart and allowed me to finally live my own story.”
“Well, books aren’t that tough to tear apart. They’re only paper…” I said jokingly. She giggled and continued.
“Gutura, however, is a long way off.” she said. The farmland was beginning to come to an end now and the road continued through plains of tall grass. I could see hills in the distance, the road avoided their steep slopes and instead wove round them. “We should find a quicker mode of transport.” said Safi, looking at the daunting distance ahead of us.
“I think you might be right.” I said.

Bloody Hell
Alan Maxwell has one exceptional talent. He can read peoples body language and micro expressions so well that, in many cases it's not hard for him to fake being psychic. When a foreign agency decides that said talent would make him an exceptional spy, events quickly begin to spiral out of control. With enemies on all sides, and friends that will as soon kill each other as his enemies, Alan will have to put his skills to the test in the ultimate game of cat and mouse. ===I came up with this story in response to a question. I once asked someone why there weren't really any Yandere harems. I realize that the answer to that is 'everyone dies' but thats boring so... here we are. A story I came up with explicitly as an excuse to create a harem entirely out of obsessive psychopathic axe murderers. Or in other words - "What happens to Bond girls when they disappear?"As a warning, there are sex scenes. Its tagged. I'll leave an authors note at the top of any chapter that has them if you'd prefer to skip it.

Slave 53: The Phoenix
Azgarth is a violent Warlord from a planet where everyone feared him, a man that never lost a battle whether it be from his enemies surrendering or dying. After entering a wormhole, this once infamous man had his memory completely wiped. He was enslaved under the name 53. The great comet arrived one day and gave 53 an extremely rare animal aspect, the Phoenix. Having a rare animal aspect puts people on the fast track to power in this world. Will 53 show the same brutality as his former self? Author: So there will probably be a lot of changes when I start hashing out the whole classes and what not. I'm not planning on this to have statuses or anything like that, but when people 'lvl up' is probably going to be something like ascending 1, 2, 3, etc. With each ascension they are many times stronger, for example, someone who hasn't ascend at all would be at 0, but someone with a 1 would be about 5x stronger than someone who is 0 and so on. It would take a long time to reach each one. With the red colored marks which represents fire, I have a couple ideas with what I want to do, in a way a battle royale, as this continent they are on isn't very large, but all four elements are on it (or more, I might add light, dark, and some others) but all the humans have red, while a different alien race has blue (water), brown (earth), and grey (Air). The color of the mark they have influences how they feel about each other, a example of that would be if a red saw a brown, then they would naturally feel a disgust about each other, and if they killed someone from a different color they would gain way more life essence which is needed to ascend than they would killing someone from their same color. The last thing, I'm not too sure about the main character yet, as I like the whole idea of a memory wipe, I almost think it'd be more entertaining to have the guy slowly regain all his memory, then just becoming his normal self again. If that's the case I'll have to change the title of book. The original idea was this guy would keep the name 53, and his prior self named Azgarth is sharing his body, as in he can talk to him and give him advice on things since he doesn't want him to die since he is sorta like a split personality sharing the same body. Looking at it now, idk if I want this guy to be named 53 forever. Warning: A lot of dark content in the book, especially in the flashbacks.

Being Frank
**Author's Note** This was my 7th attempt at writing this story. I've worked on the story since 20 years ago but my writing style and skills haven't been satisfactory to me. So after working as a digital content manager for 2 years and after a very long deliberation I've decided to drop this 7th attempt and start on my 8th attempt. This 8th attempt will be the same story but starting from a different point in the timeline of my story. Thank you for your support on this 7th try, it is only due to your reviews and comments that I have the confidence to work hard on my 8th attempt. I started on my 8th attempt with the intention that my 8th attempt will be the final one as I'm a lot more confident and content with my where my writing skills are currently at. Volume 1 In a world filled with magic, war, giants and other awesome races lives Frank. Who being Frank is somewhat of a hermit. He loves to tinker with various contraptions trying to bend the laws of magic to his will. Through his successes he has garnered some attention; unwanted attention. If only that was all there was to it. .... war is coming Volume 2 Frank was born as a normal child, born in a normal family. His father was a scientist and was busy working most days. This is also why Frank was especially excited when his father decided to take an extended holiday to travel to Asia with his family. But their trip turns out to be one from which there is no going back. Writer's notice: I will continue to participate in the NaNoWriMo every November till I finish all that I have planned to write. I expect to have this story finished in 14 years approximately.Update:I was unhappy with how I had first written the first and second volume but am leaving the editing and finishing of those volumes till later and have started on the third one. The chronological order so far is 2-1-3. Might fix that too later.
