《The Girl Who Jumped Through Worlds》27. Dad

Was it even weird finally meeting her Dad for the first time? Although all the reputation he held, Eve still felt a close connection to him. Of course, she couldn’t possibly forgive him for every crappy thing he had done, but she somehow felt pity for him.
On the other hand though, she had finally discovered the truth; her Mom had always been with her. Even though it was unconsciously. After what happened at the Hall with the Statues, Eve felt like a new person. She just wanted to hug her Mom and ask her everything that had happened this whole time but she then remembered that she had blended with her. The fusion had already taken place and it had left Eve with a pair of wings. They weren’t necessarily too huge, instead they were the best size for Eve.
The thought of her finally reuniting with her family had certainly crossed her mind, and she unawarely wanted to achieve that. But the sole thought was bizarre and impossible. Then she got reminded of everything that the Devil had done since she got here and even before, and rage erupted her. What really made her tick was Tok’s absence.
“Hello my dear, I see you’ve made yourself home.” responded the Devil.
“Don’t get full of yourself, Devil.” replied Eve.
“Oh please, refrain from calling me that. Instead call me Dad.”
“You’d wish, I don’t have anything to do with someone like you. Tell me now, where’s Tok?”
“That small fry? I told my guards to put him somewhere safe don’t worry. Now, why don’t we discuss this through?”
“I have nothing to discuss with you, your sole existence makes me wanna puke. Now listen carefully, I just left from the Hall and defeat the last Statue. It, however, put a spell on you and if it isn’t taken care of quickly the whole world is gonna explode.”
“Wait, you were on the Hall? That means that you met your Mo—

Eve spread her wings wide open and for the first time the Devil finally noticed them.
“Oh my, this is marvelous. You look beautiful.” said the Devil. “Listen to me now, I have an idea. On the last floor of this tower, I have a laboratory. I have been experimenting stuff and I’ve finally achieved what I wanted. All I want from you is to come with me and let me absorb your energy. Then I can most certainly not only stop the explosion but also bring peace to this land.”
“Good try Dad. Honestly, I’m surprised you’d think such a fool of me. I can’t believe the power has taken over your mind this much. You even had your son die for your sins.”
“That incompetent. I instructed him, trained him and did everything I could so he could be the Next One. But that fool couldn’t hear reason, he just wanted to do what he thought was right and he ended up paying for it. So be it.”
“I can’t believe you being such a heartless monster. Kotlin did everything he could to impress you and win your affection and that’s how you remember him? You’re a disgusting Devil.”
Evelyn suddenly got assaulted by a large number of guards that came out of nowhere. It was no big deal for her cause she immediately annihilated them. But she only after understood that it was all a decoy. The Devil had already tackled her, and hit her harder than she was expecting. She tried to counter-attack but the Devil only kept hitting harder. Eve had thought that after destroying the keystone and with her getting wings, things would be way easier than they were supposed to be. But she only realized how strong the Devil really was.
She got herself up, however, and was somewhat keeping up with him. Everything was repeating itself, back and forth. One attacked the other counter-attacked. Rinse and repeat. The Devil didn’t seem to be using many abilities apart from the fireballs he kept throwing, which were immensely powerful.

Abruptly, a guard ambushed Eve and distracted her enough for the Devil to make his last blow. As soon as the Devil was about to hit her though, time stopped.
Eve opened her eyes and noticed a beautiful figure in front of her. It was her Mom.
“My dear Evelyn, I never thought our first meeting would be like this.” said her Mom.
“M-mom, is that really you?” replied Eve. She also noticed that her wings weren’t there anymore.
“I just wanted to let you know that I can’t forgive myself for not knowing that all this time we were together. I blame those statues for deleting my memories and imprisoning me there. But I also blame myself for being such a fool. I commend you for everything you’ve done so far. Just so you know, the name you gave to your Pet, Tep, means trust. And I won’t betray your trust. You’ve done all you could, now just stay back and get the well deserved rest that you need. This place needs a new King, or maybe Queen.”
“Mom, what are you planning on doing?”
“There’s not much time, all you have to know is that there’s a thing called the Void. Where once things go there, they get lost forever. This is our only way. Me and your father are filled with sins, we can’t be redeemed. But you my dear, you have a bright future in front of you. Your powers will in no way get taken away, they are yours and only yours. Grow and take good care of them. I love you and you know I’ve always loved you.”
The Devil started moving a little bit. Eve’s power was rather getting weaker or the Devil was just trying to overcome it. In a blink of an eye, her Mom teleported right beside the Devil and they both disappeared from view.
Time started running normally and Eve was left speechless. It was no time for that tho, she quickly ran through each floor and double checked everything.
It didn’t take her much to find some guards beating Tok. She rapidly killed them and freed Tok.
“Miss, you’re alive!?” said Tok.
“Yes, Tok. We won! We are victorious!” screamed Eve. “We have one more thing to do tho. To fully liberate the place from the evil.”
It took them some good hours but it was all done. It all looked like a dream. Eve and Tok were standing on the throne’s room and Tok was admiring it. Eve noticed that and made the plausible choice.
“Tok, hereby I declare you the new King of this world, you shall take care of things and reign with dignity and wisdom.” said Evelyn.
“Wait, what?” exclaimed Tok.
“Yes, little one. You’re gonna grow up and become the right figure for everyone here. You must change this place, for the good.”
Eve afterwards pulled out her dagger and handed it to him.
“This is yours now. It is the Dagger of Souls, as my first acquaintance once said, and it resets the souls that it once held upon heritage. Made good use of it cause you deserve it.”
“I don’t know what to say..”
“Just promise me that you’ll take good care of things.”
“Yes, yes of course. I promise I will.” replied Tok. “But what are you gonna do?”
“I have to fully explore this world and see if my Dad left anything hidden.” responded Eve. “There’s probably going to be other portals as well, so I have to find them out.”
And so each one of them departed their ways. Tok quickly went back to his family to let them know the news and gather everyone; whilst Evelyn still had answers to find.
