《The Girl Who Jumped Through Worlds》26. Mom

Evelyn found herself in what seemed like her most difficult challenge yet. She felt both angry and happy. Angry because she was taken away right as soon as she had seemingly met her Dad for the first time; and happy because she had a mission to attend, that is defeating these last remaining Statues and saving her Mom.
She knew all well it wouldn’t be easy, there’s no way anybody could be held back by these bunch of weaklings, considering how facile to beat were the other ones. So she knew that these remaining two would be the real deal. She felt ready tho, she was determined to see through this and finally retrieve her Mom, if she still had one..
Eve was confident because she had Tep on her side. Tep was always there for her and they had started making a great duo. The Statues on the other hand seemed in unison.
They were both tall and scary. One had no expression and looked like it was contemplating all the time while the other one looked happy. That confidence was what drove Eve crazy. They didn’t seem to be bothered at all, which was both a good and bad sign. She could capitalize on their firmness and over-confidence but that would also mean that they knew what they were doing.
She thought about Tok and how he was now alone with Dad. He’d be also grieving for Shaiyla.. The sole thought of Shaiyla sacrificing herself for her made her sad. If only she’d been stronger to defeat them without the intervention of Shaiyla, she would have still been alive. Shaiyla was the closest to a friend she’d ever had, on top of being her teacher too. She couldn’t think of a future without her, but what has been done cannot be undone. Eve had to think about Tok now, she looked potential on him and it couldn’t go wasted. So she mentally and physically prepared herself and stepped in.

“I was wondering when I would get to see your ugly faces.” finally said Eve.
“Haha, how sweet of you.” replied the Statue. “Too bad this will be our last encounter.”
“What a coincidence, I think so too.” responded Eve. “Give me back my Mom!”
She immediately rushed in, Tep didn’t follow up with it’s teleports this time, she just let Eve analyze the situation. Eve was fighting with the expressionless Statue and to no surprise he was pretty strong. It could keep up with Eve without any problem and even strike back harder. Eve pulled out her Dagger and started casting abilities at it. They kept at it for awhile and Eve suddenly noticed that she was face-to-face with the Statue. The last one wasn’t intervening at all, which was weird. But she wasn’t the one to complain.
Tep had joined her and they were certainly making progress but the Statue was rock solid. It turned and looked towards the last Statue and out of nowhere went on a crystallizing form. It just sit there on the ground, accumulating energy. Eve, however, just kept hitting it but it seemed to be taking no damage. Then everything went dark.
The last thing Eve heard was the dematerialization of the Statue. Now she was one-on-one with the last one.
She didn’t feel victorious yet tho, it seemed too weird. It seemed given. There was definitely something going on. Then Tep approached her.
“This is the final stasis.” said Tep. “I’ve heard that when pure darkness falls, the one that called it shall die and only another one shall take the full power. And we both know who got it.”
They both got thrown away by an immense force. The negative thing is that they couldn’t see anything and it was easy to get ambushed. They kept getting hit by abilities that they didn’t even know where they were coming from. Tep carried on making portals from everywhere just so the attacks would get countered. But this strategy wouldn’t last long.

Eve had to do something. She sneakily moved away and tried to trap the Statue instead. Little did she know that this stasis was the ultimate one. Nothing escaped from the vision of the Statue and she was soon captured.
“Say your last words.” viciously said the Statue.
But as soon as she was getting hit, Tep came in and produced a ginormous light. It brought illumination to the whole place and most importantly stopped the attack.
Evelyn suddenly saw her Mom inside of Tep.
“Mom..?” Eve said and touched Tep.
The brightness just seemed to be getting bigger and when it stopped, only a radiance could be seen in contrast with the darkness. It was Eve, she had somehow fusioned with her Pet and had received wings. She looked gorgeous.
She abruptly teleported herself behind the Statue by flying at an unseeable pace and hit it with some glowing attacks. The Statue tried to counter-attack but it was all futile, Eve couldn’t be stopped now. She just kept hitting and hitting the Statue and by suddenly illuminating her wings, a powerful attack came out of them, fatally wounding the Statue.
Everything went back at once. The was no more darkness and the Statue was silent on the ground at its normal state. The place was pretty much the same and Eve still had her wings. Eve felt pity for the Statue and that was her mistake, the Statue said some words and everything started trembling.
“We would’ve easily taken you down, but we didn’t expect your Mom to interfere.” said the Statue. “But it doesn’t matter now, I attached a spell to your Dad and if he doesn’t die, the entire place you just came from is gonna explode.”
Then the Statue got disintegrated and the Hall collapsed. Evelyn got transported back to where she last was. In front of her was the Devil.
“Hello Dad.”

Anti-Hero: Journey of Fear
There is a story where the hero makes friends, completes quests, and saves the world. This is NOT that story. In the VR world of Fate: Experience Acute Realism, the main character cuts his way through both the players and NPCs alike. This story takes a close look at how a true full immersion VR would be played. The setting is an open VR world where the players struggle to survive with a lack of knowledge and the NPCs panic in regards to the Travelers invading their world. The anti-hero of this story is cold and calculating. Sparing no one from his reign of terror he gives into occasional bouts of kindness before he is forced back on the path of blood and tears. For where there is a hero who seeks to bring people together to help the world move forward, there is an anti-hero who brings people together to seize the world for himself. WARNING: This story contains extreme violence, in every single chapter. This story contains references to sex, but no explicit scenes. This story has light to mild swearing. My chapters normally range from 4,000 to 5,000 words. This story does not contain happy endings, middles, or even beginnings.
