《The Girl Who Jumped Through Worlds》24. Keystone

“Eve, let’s think this through. I know you’re supposed to enter those gateways but we’re on the middle on the enemy base, shouldn’t we delay your departure at least for a little bit?” said Shaiyla.
“I know what you mean. But my gut tells me that this one is very important and the soon I’m done with it the sooner I’ll be back.” replied Eve. “I have a plan. You both find a place to hide till I get back. Recover your energies or make a plan. Cause our next destination is gonna be that damn tower. We’re taking Dad down one way or another.”
“Dad?” asked Tok.
“Oh right..”
Then Eve proceeded telling them everything she had found out. They both listened in awe. They were mostly confused on how they were gonna get rid of the Devil itself. But thinking of him as a worse copy, made them feel better.
“Anyways, I have to get moving now.” said Eve. “As instructed, you two wait for me here. As soon as I get back I’ll scream your names and I’ll be waiting for you to get out. Deal?”
“Alright then, deal.” said both.
Eve immediately approached the light, which was still there, and went in. The light disappeared and so did Eve. She found herself in what looked to be Hell. Not the one she just was, this one looked worse. She was approached at once by a Spirit.
“Your visit was expected, the Next One.” said the Spirit.
“Is this a line all of you say?” responded Eve.
“This is a mere salute. Now, getting to the important stuff. I think you’re here for the Keystone, aren’t you?”
“The Keystone..” repeated Eve.
“Yes, well, that is gonna be yours to do as you please after you finish a challenge you’ll get assigned. If you say no however, you’re go get transported back right away.”

“Of course I’m saying yes. Let’s get this over with.”
“Very well.” The Spirit snapped it’s fingers and Eve got transported somewhere else.
It was her room back on earth. Eve had always lived on the same house and no big changes had been made so it was always identical. She started walking normally when she saw a mirror. She looked into it and she was a child. She was transported back when she was a mere kid.
She kept exploring her house, everything she had missed. It was an overall relief for her.
Then she heard a scream. She didn’t know where it came from. It could be heard but even after searching the entire house she didn’t find the place. Then she remembered. She started hovering over the walls. And a sudden click was heard. She had found the way to it’s Dad laboratory once again. She quickly descended, just to find her parents fighting. They seemed more surprised to find Eve than she them.
Her Mom took this opportunity to tackle the Dad and got off his hands a gun. The gun flew towards Eve and she grabbed it. Her parents were immobilized now.
Each of them started making statements on why each is worthier to live and it all depended on Eve. It was a simple answer. Dad should’ve died, then all of this wouldn’t have happened. They’d be conducting an ordinary life, and they’d be a happy family. But it was too simple. Too good to be true. Eve stressed herself till the point that she found an answer. She clicked the gun and killed herself..
She was transported back at the Spirit.
“Good choice. A brave one indeed, and the correct one.” said the Spirit.
“But why, I don’t understand. I just thought that if I didn’t exist, my parents would have a normal life and maybe another child that they would bring into this world would give them more satisfaction.” asked Eve.

“It isn’t that. The thing is, your Dad’s gun wasn’t deadly. He was just using it to threaten your Mom and continue his experiments. He never meant harm, he just wanted the best for everybody. That’s why when you hit yourself, you would’ve been hurt and your parents would’ve rushed towards you to help you, thus making the bond stronger and making your Dad realize the most important thing. You.”
“I see..”
Then abruptly the Keystone was laid upon them. Eve focused all of her energy in a giant orb of power and threw it towards the Keystone; destroying it.
“Farewell the Next One.” said the Spirit.
And Eve was transported back.
“Tok, Shaiyla!!” screamed Eve.
They made their appearance. Eve told them what she just did, and knowing the Devil would be weak they decided to assault him at once. Thus making their advance to the fortress.

The Devil suddenly felt most hurt. He unconsciously knew what had hit him and wasn’t content. He was facing his throne and was started to get worried about Tomal and Kotlin.
“Your sire, we have devastating news. Both your son and Tomal are dead. They were just beaten by your daughter.” said someone.
“You insolent, how dare you speak this wa— the Devil turned and realized who he was talking to. “Jome? I didn’t expect to see you right now.”
“And when else would I come. Right now is the perfect time for the duo to make their entrance. Sir, leave this in our hands, they won’t pass the first floor in any way.” replied Jome.
“Where’s Clida?” asked the Devil.
“She’s already waiting for them there, they don’t stand a chance.” responded Jome.
“Don’t underestimate her, you saw what she did to both Merian and Tomal!? I don’t want the rest of my elite to dissipate.”
“Don’t you worry, sir. We have all of this under control.”
