《The Girl Who Jumped Through Worlds》17. Alone

All this flow doesn’t stop, huh? It’s been going back and forth since I’ve come here. What if I just wanna have a well deserved rest? I’m sorry, there’s no if, I JUST WANT IT.
I can’t believe I’m all alone right now. Since me and Kotlin parted together, I thought I’d never feel alone anymore. On the bright side tho, I still have my pet. I seriously have to start thinking of a name for it. But I still don’t know anything about it, especially why is it always sleeping and only comes in clutch situations. I’m practically alone.
On the other hand, It’s still impressive that I was able to beat that girl. I know I gotta give credit to the element of surprise, but it’s still admirable how my daemon knew exactly what I wanted to do and made that portal appear at the last second. I still have to ask someone about my so precious pet. Maybe he has other abilities that I’m not aware of and that could be handy.
Anyways, I should get going and try to catch up with Kotlin and Shaiyla. That guy still has to explain me why he could move on my frozen realm.
Eve stopped for a moment. She didn’t know why she did that, but a vision appeared in front of her. It was Kotlin and Shaiyla. The latter seemed to have recuperated a bit and they were on a place that she couldn’t possibly know. Then the vision vanished.
It didn’t matter at that point, the sole realization that they were alive and sort of well made her feel way better. She tried running but she felt some nausea. Maybe those were the side effects of using her new abilities. Or perhaps she’s just tired as hell.
Either way, she realized that she might’ve been close to them and the adrenaline did the rest. She just rushed towards the direction she had seen Kotlin and Shaiyla go.

Not after much, she bumped into a kid. But at her discontent, it wasn’t a human kid. It was a Nab. She froze in place. It was just a child after all, what could he possibly do to hurt her? She just stood there thinking about all the circumstances that might happen. And to her surprise he spoke.
“Miss, could you help me find something I lost? said the Kid.
Evelynn was left in awe.
“Uh-uh, certainly!?” responded Eve.
“Really? Would you really do that?”
“S-sure.. Hm, who exactly are you by the way?”
“Oh right, I’m Tok.”
“Hello Tok, I’m Ev— entually gonna tell you my name.”
What the heck thought Eve. The kid laughed.
“You’re a weird specimen miss haha.”
“Yeah, you can say so. Anyhow, tell me what can I do for you?”
“Oh right, I was playing with my dagger; my dad bought it for me. I was practicing on throwing it and making it return back to me, but I threw it too far and it got lost somewhere in here. I don’t want to anger my Dad but I’ve been searching for too long and I haven’t found it yet. I’m about to lose my hope.”
Eve was still confused. Was all of this actually happening? Did she just fall asleep right after she presumably killed Merian cause of all the fatigue and she’s dreaming right now? Wouldn’t be a surprise, since all her dreams are pretty messed up. And most importantly, how could she understand him? Now that she was thinking about it though, even those guards at the exit of Dork could understand her and vice versa. This was getting weirder.
“Miss- miss!?” repeated Tok.
“Yes, yes. I’ll definitely help you.” replied Eve.

“Oh, thank you so much!”
“You’re welcome. You have any idea where the dagger might’ve landed? Or you think it’s gonna be somewhere in here?”
“No miss, I’d suppose somewhere around this place.”
“Alright, let’s search then. Don’t scatter too far from me.”
Eve thought this was a piece of cake as she concentrated all her power on having the vision. But it didn’t come up. She came to the realization that she was either super tired, or that she had to at least see the object once to know the whereabouts.
A sudden scream was heard. Eve noticed that Tok was missing and headed towards the noise. There were some guards holding Tok. They seemed to be playing with him, in a bad manner. One of them had a dagger which she guessed was probably Tok’s.
She didn’t waste any time and just tacked in the fun. There were only 3 guards, so she didn’t mind. Plus considering that she beat one of their most potent elites she felt confident.
“Leave the kid alone at once.” said Eve.
“Haha, and who—
“ITS THE GIRL!”
“THERE’S NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!”
The kid was thrown and the ground and everyone turned their attention to her.
“GET HER!!!”
They immediately assaulted her but it was futile, Eve while elegantly dodging their attacks, counter-attacked back as well. She took her dagger out and stabbed one of the guards. She thought that it was gonna be a piece of cake, but there was apparently another guard hiding which caught her off guard.
To Eve’s relief however, the Pet woke up and teleported her somewhere else. Eve filled with energy, rushed them back with her Pet teleporting her from place to place. She quickly beat down all of the three remaining ones. She grabbed the dagger from one of the dead bodies and handed it to Tok.
“Hey, I think this belongs to you.” said Eve.
“Oh my, I thank you so mu— NO, WATCH OUT!!”
Eve was hit from behind and everything went black.
