《Bloodline》Chapter - Two

As soon as Daemon walked through the door he noticed two infants, one being help by his eldest Son, Raehor. He was honestly startled, he was expecting one grandson not two he didn’t know how to conduct himself. After few breaths of time he managed to find his bearing and was much more happier than he realised he would be, he didn’t even try hide it as he began to laugh as he walked forward.
“Haha Raehor well done, you’ve manage to give me a pleasant surprise indeed. Tell me which of the two the eldest is?” he quickly got the point and asked the question every one of the Elders behind were dying to know.
“Father the one in Aida’s arms is the eldest by few seconds, he is truly a weird child he did not cry upon being born” He was both fascinated and excited at the same time.
Daemon hearing this was a little startled “Aida, let me hold my eldest grandson I would like to see him”
“Yes father” she obediently handed her precious son to him.
Reis at this point was terrified of this man before him he felt his blood boil, it’s like something inside him was warning him to not cross this man before him. After thinking about it a little more he felt relief that this was his grandfather and not an enemy.
Daemon looked at Reis with a little amusement in his eyes as if to notice the child’s worries, he decided to check the child’s bloodline to see how pure it was, suddenly Daemon’s eyes became slit like a dragon and looked at the child closely he then put his index finger between his eyebrows, However the result both terrified him and made him excited beyond belief.
Reis felt a warm sensation enter through the point between eyebrows that energy felt so familiar, warm and gentle that he suddenly fell asleep in the old man’s arms as if he couldn’t resist going to sleep.

Daemon inside Reis conscious suddenly saw two red dragon slit eyes stare back at him, but it didn’t give off a hostile feeling merely familiarity. Daemon then saw what those eyes belonged to, they belonged to that huge dragon. He felt as if he was an insignificant ant before this mighty being what he desperately wanted to know was what colour this dragon’s body was but he couldn’t see clearly.
“Raehor and Aida, you’ve given birth to a true Redding heir. He is a pure blood which the likes this clan has not seen for thousands of years. I truly hope his twin can surprise me as well” Daemon states like it was the natural thing to say
Both Aida and Raehor upon hearing this were startled, since when did his father praise an infant this much? The answer was never. If he was as gifted as his father claimed then this truly was a joyous occasion even if the younger one wasn’t as talented.
The Elders standing there were delighted upon hearing this news, their precious clan, the clan that was once feared throughout the world, the clan that brought terror to its enemies upon hearing their name was now a clan that has not been to the outside world and gotten involved in anything for almost a thousand years. They finally produced a pure blood that was superior to anyone they have ever met or heard of in the past centuries.
“Father how pure is his blood exactly?” Amon asked as he was the first Elder, second brother of Raehor. He was this child’s uncle and a proud one at that.
“Haha Amon if you are curious I will tell you, he has 96% pure blood of Redding our ancestor. And he hasn’t gone through the clan baptism yet” Daemon proudly claimed.
“The heavens have finally shown favour to our Clan, the heavens truly are just and fair” Amon was a strict man also ambitious but he has always put the clan before himself.

“Congratulation first brother you’ve truly been blessed by the heavens” The third elder spoke, the third brother of Raehor.
“Thank you Raemon, I haven’t seen you past few years but I am glad you could be here for this” Raehor always spoiled Raemon as a child and felt like a second father to him.
The three other elders all expressed their delight and congratulated Raehor, they even presented gifts that little children would be able to play with or clothes they could wear. You could consider Redding clan to be extremely close Clan as they all lived together and pretty much grew up together rather than having sub-branches located in different areas.
“Now now don’t neglect my second grandson let me take a look at him” Daemon quickly moving to the second grandson as he handed the first to Aida.
Daemon looked at the child and felt like he was looking at younger Raehor, he had the same red hair as everyone in the clan, but what made him stand out was his playful eyes. Whereas the first one had an air of wisdom about him as if he was looking at you and understood everything you said or did.
He performed the same procedure as he did with Reis and was excited at the prospect of having twin pure blood geniuses in his clan especially since they were both direct descendants, however this one had less talent than the elder brother, and He had 90% pure blood which is still a lot more than anyone in this room except for his brother.
“This one is also a heaven sent genius he has 90% pure blood, truly a joyous occasion for the clan” Daemon stated.
“Truly the heavens have granted our clan a great favour” Everyone exclaimed in their hearts.
Aida and Raehor both felt proud of their new children, as this was the puzzle they were missing in their life. Raehor was thinking when they reach 6 I will start training them physically and he started laughing to himself like a maniac.
Aida seeing this knew what he was thinking and sent a death glare in his direction as to say don’t you dare torture my precious children.
“Ahem” Raehor cleared his throat before continuing “Father, what shall we name them seeing as how they are both twins”
“How about we name one after my father and the other after Aida’s Grandfather?”
Aida was pleased with this out come because both names were close to resembling each other and both those two figures were best friends as well as legendary figures in the clan.
“Alright it’s decided, my father was elder than Aida’s grandfather thus we shall name the eldest Raegan and the younger twin Raegar” Daemon stated and looked around the room as if anyone would disagree with clan master.
“Raegan and Raegar, truly magnificent names” stated Raehor while Aida simply nodded as she fed Raegan her milk.
“Alright let Aida and these two grandchildren of mine get some rest let’s go all of you out!” Daemon demanded them to leave.
Raehor stood there looking down at his son Raegar smiling, then he looked at little Raegan feeding on his mother’s milk and couldn’t help thank the heavens for bestowing upon him such a family especially with two geniuses such as this.
Author: I hope you readers can be patient with me on this Story and I assure you it won’t turn out like regular twin stories, I don’t want to spoil much but that’s all I have to say.
p.s: I won't be referring to Reis anymore since he has gotten a new name in this world I will go with Raegan.

2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
