- Modern Day Earth -
A young man was walking was walking down the road among countless people who were trying to get home as quickly as they possibly could, what made this young man stand out was his lack of purpose he nor walked slow nor fast he just blended in with the crowd. This young man was Reis who was turning 26 tomorrow he had an uncommon short name but one he got in the orphanage that he grew up and spent his childhood.
Reis was taught from a young age that he must make something of himself if he were to survive the outside world once he left the orphanage by the only woman who ever paid attention to him, her name was Aida, she took care of him as best she could because no one attempted to get close to Reis his whole life the reason. Reis was the loner of the bunch because of his demeanor the way he carried himself a lot more mature than those his age and those blue piercing eyes that felt like he could see through every secret that you are willing to take to the grave with you.
Reis didn't mind being alone he had books for a company which told better tales than these people who were always fascinated with the newest technology, new fashion line, the latest game, and many other things he despised about this world. He immersed himself in the knowledge of books of the days men used swords to fight against their enemies and to truly feel alive as one relies on his strength and skills to survive and make a name for himself.
Reis read as much as he could about books that described the conquest of the crusaders, the vikings voyage, the conquest of Alexander the great, any book he found worthy of his knowledge he read but the most fascinating tales to Reis were the Chinese warring states period not the politics part but the battles that rages on for hundreds of years of heroes rising to fame and falling in the battlefield.

From the influence of these stories Reis always felt that he born in the wrong age and wished he could travel back in time to live in such a world to test himself, to feel alive, to feel power and to stand above others. Unfortunately he was born in 21st Century America who wage war on countries less powerful than themselves and claim its for the good of their nation, he despised such a country and it's leaders then again he despised the way people think in this day and age.
He tried to make the best for himself through education with perfect scores, getting countless scholarships from top universities but all that was short lived when he walked into a store that was being robbed, he had no way out of such a situation so he just stood there and watched the man at the counter try reach for a gun as soon as the robber took his eyes off him to stare at Reis at that moment he knew he was in deep shit.
They say everything happens so fast but to Reis it felt like everything was moving in slow motion, from the moment the man in the counter tried to reach for the gun and the moment the robber realised what was happening. To shooting the man at the counter then pointing his gun at Reis who just looked at him in the eyes before shooting him twice and running away.
Reis laying there in his own blood dying slowly and painfully was thinking what a joke to be granted life in such a world, to be killed in such a way. He ridiculed himself countless times before darkness overcame him.
-Soul Realm-
Reis awoke in a world of darkness and the only light he could see was an image of a door, as he walked towards this door as intelligent as he was he couldn't figure out what was happening. He wasn't a religious man nor was he big believer of god so he braced himself of what was to come once he walked through that door.

As he walked through the door he closed his eyes, slowly opening them only to find an old man with golden robe with dragon embroiled on the side of it stand before him smiling down at him. Reis understood that he was dead he gathered that the moment he awoke with an ethereal soul form, but he couldn't understand why this man presented himself in such a way especially since he was told every 10 seconds someone dies on Earth.
The old man still looking down at Reis smiling as if he was watching something amusing finally spoke.
"Hello, young Reis" he spoke as if he knew me
"Hello, uh, I would usually say a name but I do not know who you are" Reis stated bluntly.
"That's quite alright, I appear before you today to fulfill your wish" the old man stated.
"I don't know who you are nor what you hope to fulfill but please explain yourself before you randomly pick something I wished for as a kid" Reis was a truthful young man. Partially the reason many people didn't get along with him in the first place.
"Come now young Reis, do not act as if you do not know what I am talking about, did you not wish for a world of chaos, a world where the strong rules, a world where strength determines your status?" The old man finally lost that smile he had.
"Yes, that is the world where I wish I was born but that cannot be fulfilled as the world has advanced by technology" he sighed with regret.
"Who said there is only one world out there?" The old man resumed his smile with amusement.
Reis had millions of question ringing in his mind at this moment but did not know where to begin, the old man seeing this as if he could read his mind.
"Do not worry about such things however I will grant you that wish of yours, I will also give you a reward for being so blunt and truthful always staying true to your desires, as a man I must acknowledge that side of you, may we meet again young Reis"
Reis wanted to say who wants to die again and meet you, it was painful dying the first time. He had no intention of ever dying again if he was given the opportunity he clearly remember what it felt like to be there in your own pool of blood waiting to die slowly. And he was consumed by darkness again.

Hacking Reality (A teenage Mad Scientist's story.)
Maya Williams was smart. For the first time however, she realized she might be a little too smart. At least if the fact that a gang had kidnapped her was any indication. But that didn’t matter, because she’d show them. She’d show them all!!! Just as soon as the voices in her head could agree on how to get out of this mess. --- Please Note: This is a version of a forum quest I run following a teenage Mad Scientest with heroic tendencies in the same city/setting as my other stories the Huntsman's Quest and Get Ink'd. Meaning that while a majority of the plot is made up by me, the major choices as well as what each chapter is about are usually made by the actual readers in forum votes. Additionally, given how this is essentially a story version of a Tabletop game there is also a background RPG system that while the characters aren't necessarily aware of, the readers can see these stats to know how each chosen 'Action' effects their character's development.
