"Oh... so this is a human camp huh?? seems interesting"
"human camp??" ask cloth face
"I-I mean, this region camp"
"Yeah, you can say that again Sven, it sure looks awesome to me"
"Heh, you country bumpkins... of course it is after all this camp was built by order from the legendary holy knight blue, Sir Falcon the dual sword master"
"You can run your mouth now thanks to Aya kindness, also because of her that I returned your physical strength, be grateful" Sven glaring at Mr Dan
"Yeah, I know already!"
"so then, tell me, Dan, which region are we now" hearing that makes the cloth face and Mr Dan shocked.
"You... really don't know anything huh, Sven, despite all your magic show earlier. this region name Jega, one of the strongest region in this state, Cambough"
"Oh, so this region's name is not Roca??
"No you idiot, Roca is just a village, which in this Jega's province. In this state, there are three regions that have a camp... Jega, Lorc, and Sedrid. And among that region, Lorc is the strongest, produce many strong warriors, In fact, there even a holy knight was from there. Lucky them" explain cloth face makes Mr Dan noded sign agreed
"Yeah, they so lucky"
"what are you two go babbling about lucky huh"
"If the camp showing the great result in war or anything, the Royals will give some kind of award, and of course in form of money, weapon and stuff. And what I said lucky earlier is, the region, Lorc, is far near the Demon's territory... unlike us"Mr Dan explain to Sven, who seems to a bit clueless
"as for us, the Jega's camp, stand as the wall near the borderline of demon's realm, who must hold our position if those demons are attacked, waiting for backup. With that, we receive more damage and casualty while those Lorcs hogs all the victory, is that how it is??" Sven asked them

"yeah, but mostly all those attacks were caused by mountain bandit, orcs, even a small group of assassins, the Sanain," said cloth face
"The Sanain?? you mean that bunch of mix of all kind of tribes, even the demon?? they always attack here??" Sven asked with a big shocked face
"that explain why the security in this region become lax, even those bandit were succeed kidnapped Aya and the others"
"And that's how it is. welcome, you cave man, to the most targeted camp by the most formidable enemy, the Jega camp" Mr Dan welcoming Sven with his smile
"Yeah!! thanks, Dan!! I appreciate your help" Sven answering his welcome with passion in his eyes
"the heck with that reaction... most people don't even want to go near the Jega's camp, they even willing to go others camp just so to survive from this "hell camp" " Mr Dan not understand that Sven's reaction
"personally, I always want to fight those Sanain ever since I heard the rumors about them. They were the group of famous assassin masters, combined with all kind of tribe that you heard and also never heard. Their skills are top notch, and from what I know, even Commander Grey having difficulty to deal with these Sanain. Because of that, Modra always wants to recruit the people of Sanain to join his faction but declined it... they neutral, not the demon side, nor the human side... they always neutral, and their goal is somewhat unclear for me, either to defeat the demon king or to crush all tribe. well that doesn't matter, the point is, I can fight them here" thought Sven with full of enjoyment
"come on Dan, let's go to register" Sven run toward the gate, leaving that behind, Mr Dan and cloth face

When they arrived at register counter, Mr Dan write the name of Sven and cloth face" Sven, what's your full name??"
"Sven just fine, besides, my full name will be Sven Versfalio when I finish this camp," said Sven makes Mr Dan annoyed
"you, what's your??"
"They called me Arlov"
"They?? well whatever"Mr Dan continue to write down the document
The person who in charge of the registry counter giving Mr Dan a two necklace badges, and he giving to Sven and cloth face called Arlov
"that's your badge, and it's writing your name on it. From now on, you are a recruit, congratulations." said Mr Dan
"yeah!... finally!" cloth face shout happily
"so your name is Arlov..." said Sven
"just called me cloth face, I already customize with that calling by you"
"if that what's you want, but man seriously, what's with this camp... it's full of cracking everywhere. They even have a destroyed building over there" Sven looking around at this camp
"as I said, this camp was being attacked numerously, so I say, there's a five of small war scale going in on year"
"Yeah... I can't wait for that happen" Sven shivering with excited
"what's with this boy"
"Anyway, the camp starting tomorrow due to unavoidable occasion for the coach, so you may stay at your house until tomorrow, or so they said"
"you sound like we have to live in here for the next five year until our graduation from this place" Sven asking Mr Dan
"That's how it is, so you may sleep in your house for this day"
"but... I came from far away, I don't have any relative around here, what should I do, My plan was to sleep in the dormitory in this camp, "cloth face starting to panic
"should I care??" Mr Dan sneering
"Ah, why don't you come with me to Versfalio mansion. Aya invite me to dinner earlier, so I sleep at there tonight, you should come with me, cloth face"
"If that's what you want, so I shall"
"it's settled then" Sven smile

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above.
