《I can summon my past lives》46- Requiem for a broken soul

Damon’s eyes opened. The golden eyes he had gained from becoming a Saint Son had long turned into a starry sky.
What was more striking was the maddened state he was in after his eyes opened.
It seemed his previous state was one where he was trying to control himself.
Now that he was awake, all the madness came pouring out.
As the madness approached like an invisible veil towards Damian, threatening to take him over too…something happened.
A white soothing light appeared on Damian’s soul body and protected him.
Damian felt the changes in him and had a pensive look, ‘It seems all those predecessors' work wasn’t for nothing after all. While I might not be in control of this power that is the Dao of Virtue, it is still a part of me. Perhaps the activation of this power that allows for an incorruptible spirit and mind varies from each wielder. That said, I might as well fuse with my counterpart and see how it goes.’ He thought.
“You shouldn’t have come, kid…but I see you came prepared…but it’s not enough.” Damon’s crazed voice was heard all over the soul space.
Damian kept his smile on his face as he said, “You’re afraid aren’t you?”
Damon, whose mind had long been taken over by the Dragon said, “My mind is a trillion times stronger than yours and even then I am underestimating myself. Heavenly Daos offer themselves to me as we speak as they are in awe of my power. Do you really think that a punny Dao of virtue is capable of stopping me? I can erase it from my mind as soon as it even tries to get close to me. What else do you have that can bring back Damon from oblivion?”

Damian was also counting on the power of the Dao of Virtue to do its trick and save the day, but he was also counting on something else…something more important and would be quite effective, “If the Dao of Virtue is not enough, then you’re in for a wild ride…I have something far more interesting in store for you…”
The Dragon had long read Damian's mind, but it had found nothing that could threaten him.
The dragon was now silent as it gauged Damian who appeared as confident as a hero coming to save the day when in fact it was more of an arrogant ant planning to kill an elephant.
Damian made his first step towards Damon, then the second and the third. All this time, the dragon had found no flaw in the young man. His confidence was unshaken.
The Dragon was growing mad trying to understand why a puny ant was so confident in being able to take him down.
The fourth step…
The fifth step…
The sixth step…
With each step of the ‘suicidal’ Damian, the dragon was growing mad by the second, “Fine. Let me see what. You prepared for me. I’m dying to know.” Said the dragon as Damon’s body stood up and launched itself towards Damian.
The fusion happened instantly.
Damon or the ‘Dragon’ stayed there, unmoving trying to erase the ‘fly’ that had fused with him before any problems arose. It was so cautious for the very first time in its short life ever since it had gained its own awareness.
Like expected, the Dao of Virtue tried to fight back, but it was immediately suppressed as soon as it appeared.
Then what happened first flabbergasted the dragon.
It began seeing images of a woman.
Memories that spanned for sixteen years appeared and kept being replayed in its mind.

It didn’t understand, ‘What could this all mean? What use could this have?’
It was then that Damian’s voice was heard, “Damon, the woman you see is your mother that loves you very much. I wanted you to see her in our last moments at least when I became aware that there was nothing that could be done to save everyone. Know that none of this is your fault. Hehehe, for people who boast of the most potent luck in the entire world, we sure are unlucky. I guess seeing the mother you always wanted to see will give you enough strength to take back control of your body for a while. Even if you get a mere second out of it, make sure to give the middle finger at that gluttonous Dragon. Farewell…”
“NOOOOOOOO!!!” The Dragon said as it felt a portion of itself not responding to its control anymore. It turned around and saw another young man behind it that had the same features as itself.
White hair, Golden glowing eyes, Golden butterfly wings.
“I think you’ve done enough.” Damon said calmly to the dragon that had stolen his body.
“Hehehehahaha.”the Dragon gave a crazed laughter, “OR WHAT?”
“There is nothing you can do. All that hollow soul of yours managed to do was give you freedom for a mere instant.Hehe, Everybody else is out of ideas on how to stop me….can it be that you do?” The dragon had a derisive smile on its face as it dangerously approached planning to obliterate Damon from the soul space once and for all.
“It’s good that things have turned like this. You all made it easy for me to thoroughly kill you. Now that you are a single entity separate from me if I devour you, you’ll cease existing. Hehe, thank you very much. Right now, the soul Crystals of the entire Underworld and the tribulation core have been completely devoured by me. You see while, you and your hollow soul spent time talking to me, I wasted no time in the world outside as I devoured to my heart's content. Now I am about to teleport to the Dao Core and after I am done there, it will be the turn of the Planeverse and every living being inside it…” The dragon now had its hand on Damon’s throat as it smiled triumphantly.
Damon only gave a smile and showed pity for the dragon as he simply said.
“Scroll of the Undying God! Appear…”
In the real world an old scroll appeared before the clueless dragon.
It was the scroll that belonged to one of his past lives, Bashar, {The Tribulation Chaser}.
As long as you had something to sacrifice to it, you’d gain power equal to the sacrifice.
“…I sacrifice the Star Bloodline...”
“…I sacrifice the dragon’s consciousness...”
“…and I sacrifice the dragon’s power.”
Three sacrifices…three wishes…
The dragon never had the time to retort before its every being was whisked away into the Scroll of the Undying God.

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.
