《I can summon my past lives》44- A last ditch effort

Diana almost had tears threatening to come out of her eyes.
She really didn’t want to separate herself from her son so soon…she had yet to see him get married and have his own children.
From what the situation sounded like, it seemed like even Chronos was out of ideas. Her son leaving would probably mean certain death…probably. At the very least, she’d never get to know the innocent son she had watched growing.
“How bad is it?” Diana managed to ask.
“Very bad. Right now…of the infinite possible futures that exist, the Dragon Damon only needs to succeed once and all the other futures and the entire world is devoured before it goes to eat the other Allverses of the Chaosverse. Even the Dao Beings will not be spared from death with the Dao core devoured. Without the Dao core only Beings who do not rely on the Dao … those at the Edict level will survive, provided they can avoid being devoured as well.” Chronos said seriously. It seemed he had already prepared himself for death. Quite normal for a man who only saw the impending doom of everyone he knew every time he glimpsed into the future.
Chronos snapped his fingers and the Requiem Book that always hovered around Damian opened by itself and stopped on each of the remaining six black pages that represented Damian’s past lives who comprehended the Dao of Virtues Domains. Each black page became colourful as they depicted men of different ages who mostly had the demeanour of monks.

[Six Requiem Souls Unlocked…]
{ -The Proud Hero - Domain of Justice, Unlocked…}
{ - The Cautious Mouse - Domain of Prudence, Unlocked…}
{ - The Dare Devil - Domain of Courage, Unlocked…}
{ - The tempted - Domain of Temperance, Unlocked… }

{ - The Selfless - Domain of Charity, Unlocked…}
{ -The Hopeless - Domain of Hope, Unlocked…}
In addition to the previously unlocked - The Pious Sinner- of the domain of faith, seven soul bodies hovered in the sky.
“Did we make it in time?” The Proud hero asked.
They all looked at Chronos waiting for an answer.
“It seems I have wronged you all…I forced you to dedicate your entire mortal lives to me for the sake of saving the entire world…but it seems we have…failed.” Chronos shook his head.
“No…I refuse to believe it. The plan was foolproof…how can it have failed?” The Cautious mouse said.
“Maybe we can still create a miracle…the world still has yet to end, we’re here aren’t we?” The Hopeless said.
They all nodded.
Chronos said, “This is a last ditch effort for Damian to comprehend your domains all at once. Even if he comprehends a sliver of each domain it would still be helpful to clear Damon’s deranged mind. Good luck…is all I can say.”
Chronos once again snapped his fingers and the seven pages fused together to form one page. At the same time, the seven soul bodies fused into one as well.
The single page detached itself from the Requiem Book and then went to plaster itself onto Damian’s skin where it sunk in and fused with it…and as if attracted by a magnet the soul body that had finished fusing from the previous seven fused with Damian as well.
Chronos made a grasping motion as Damian fell unconscious and then the Night Scythe flew out of the latter’s hand and floated near Chronos. It seemed he was afraid to touch it.
Now it would all depend on how long Damian would remain unconscious and how much he would comprehend of the Dao of Virtue’s domains in that time.

All for the chance of defusing a cataclysmic bomb that would soon destroy everything they held dear.
At that moment, now that a new event had been set into motion, Chronos was looking into the possible futures to see if he had managed to change it…even a little.
As he looked…
…It was still the same. Damon laid waste to the Allverse before he took care of the invading army.
The truth was…everything that was and had ever been ended in his stomach…and with each new meal, his strength grew to new heights.
Chronos felt powerless one again.
The guilt he felt from being the one who had started it all because he missed his suicidal father, couldn’t even be quantified…so much so that Chronos himself longed for death just to ease the pain he felt.
In a way it was understandable…how would you feel if you were responsible for the end of the world.
Had he never created the Requiem System, the subsequent events leading to the end of the world would have never happened.
Diana looked at her unconscious son with undisguised concern. ‘Is everything about to be over?’ She thought.
In a way she was happy that she had known him for sixteen years. No greater gift could be given to a mother other than seeing her child grow up with her own eyes.
Damian had returned to his normal height now that he had no Night Scythe in hand. His black hair had reverted back to white and his wings had become a transparent yellow instead of the black miasmic color.
He was now living and reliving the lives of the seven soul bodies.
The seven soul bodies were quite special in a way that they kept the memories of their past lives.
So, since the first life, they had all kept the name Samuel Kane and had all met the White Lion Xerxes as their companion soul.
It was done to ease the transition as well as facilitate the explanation of their ultimate goal and mission which was to ultimately save the world by comprehending their respective domains.
Under the time acceleration of Chronos, Damian needed less than a second to experience the life of one of his predecessors more than a hundred times. Chronos could allow Damian to experience the memories thousands of times, but he had diverted most of his energy accelerating the time of the entire pocket universe.
Days later Damian finally opened his golden eyes…

8 1460Polly and Drake
Drake has been searching for a job as a personal guard, but wherever he turns, he is kicked out without fail. It's not that he's terrible with weapons, or inattentive. It could be because of his obvious racial heritage. Or because of Polly. With his funds dwindling, the only remaining option is to become one of the Cursed: poor souls that work for the Dragoneye Guild. In other lands, they may be called adventurers, saviors or even heroes, but not in the White Desert. Here, they are shunned and ignored. Depraved people who forsook their humanity for money and fame. With this choice, Drake may not only fall from grace, but also become one of only a few thousands capable of unearthing the secrets of ancient times. If he could get this guardsman notion out of his head. May contain gore, violence, profanity and traumatising content. Taking another shoot at this writing business. I write for fun and when I have time. There is no plan. The story may change drastically from what it starts out - or not. We'll see what happens. Currently, I'm aiming for a Slice of Life with LitRPG elements at a later time.

"In my defense, I hadn't actually been trying to get hit by a truck." Artemis wakes up alone in a giant futuristic facility with no hint of where she is, how she got here, or what this means. Yet within two weeks, she is shot at with all the guns, a voice is beginning to speak in her head, and she is tormented by a seemingly sentient and possibly trollish space Roomba. Her only hope is Scarlet, another girl who is a complete stranger and almost shot her in the head. Oh, and she has fox ears and a tail. That is possibly worth mentioning. Artemis is not a nerd. She has never heard of the isekai genre, she can't fight worth a damn, and the blue-collar skills she learned at her community college are absolutely useless in a universe where technology is often indistinguishable from magic. She only has one thing going for her: A mysterious ability to interface with highly advanced technology left behind by the Antecessors, the long lost precursor civilization with technology that no one has been able to adequately replicate. Finding herself in a universe where civilizations are locked in an interstellar Cold War, where societies are so stratified that the aristocracy commands fleets of starships while slaves wash clothes with their hands, Artemis decides to run away from it all. She has a ship. She'll find a crew. She'll find a way to make a living at the fringes of civilization, learn how to cope with danger, and survive the affections of a universe where everyone is a cute girl with animal ears and tails. Welcome to Intercessor. AKA Kemonomimi Yuri Space Fantasy. Commissioned by Shaderic. Please leave your sense of shame at the door.
