《I can summon my past lives》14- Ode for the Dark Phoenix -Part 1-

As Damon Kaze was busy cursing Mad Pill, something started happening to his soul.
A stream of abstruse information started appearing in his mind like a song.
His soul seemed to be fighting it and a backlash occurred. It was like a body being injured and the injury festered endlessly.
Suddenly, there was a spatial fluctuation around him and he was forcefully teleported away.
He found himself in a dark place completely devoid of light.
He heard chains rattling and a deep feminine voice followed right after, "How peculiar...a Soul Saint trying to comprehend the Dao Of Reincarnation...rather...it seems it's being forced upon you...now, how could such a thing happen?"
"Who...who's there?" Damon managed to say as he fought the incredible headache he felt. He even wondered how a soul could experience a headache.
"Me? I'm your savior. Had the Reincarnation Lords found you, there wouldn't have been a reincarnation in store for you. They consider those not from their sect who come into contact with the Reincarnation Dao as heretics to be killed on the spot...well a soul can't really be killed, you'd just end up in prison forever." The feminine voice said.
Damon was no more afraid of the dark and wanted to know more about this place and if this new entity was trustworthy. He said, "How do I stop this headache? And my soul is collapsing, how do I stop it?"
The feminine voice then said, "You can't stop either of them. Your only way out would be to unlock one the {Six Paths of Soul Cultivation}. The {Phantom} path. It is the only way your soul can comprehend the Dao."
The headache was becoming more unbearable, Damon then pleaded, "How can I unlock the {Phantom} path? Please help me." He had no choice but to trust this strange entity.

"And what can you possibly give me in exchange?" The feminine voice said.
Damon couldn't think properly anymore as the song of the Reincarnation Dao played in his head, he said, "Didn't...you say...you were my savior?"
"Yes, I said that. It was mostly to see those bastards not have their way with you. On what grounds can they prohibit the comprehension of a Dao just because they can?...but, with that said, I will still need something in exchange if you want me to help you." the voice said.
"What do you... want?"Damon asked. He was now about to faint.
"Let me read your memories first. That way I can know if you can help me or not. If you can't...well, you'll just have to die. I haven't had a snack in a long time. Hehe."
A strange power entered Damon's mind and strangely enough, he felt less and less pain.
"Interesting...to think that there was someone who could think of creating such a toy...Let's see."
Right after hearing that, Damon saw the System's prompts.
[Warning! Warning! System being hacked. Implementing security protocols.]
[All firewalls breached.]
[Core breached.]
[System attempting to shut down...failed.]
[Core function being rewri...]
'Was this entity stealing his Requiem System?' Damon thought. He was wondering what he would become without his system.
After a long time, as Damon was amazed that he was still alive, he heard the feminine voice again, "It seems that you can help me after all."
"What did you do to me?" Damon dared to ask.
"Oh, I just made your little toy a little bit less stressful to use. You'll find out yourself eventually." she mysteriously said.
"The song in my head isn't as intense as earlier but it's still there. You said something about reaching the {Phantom} path before comprehending Dao. I thought it was impossible for Soul cultivators to comprehend Dao." Damon said.

"All paths of Cultivation use the Dao one way or another. For the soul to be able to cultivate the Dao you must enter a state that can contain it, hence the {Phantom} path. Among the {Six Paths of Soul Cultivation}, there's the {Soul} path, the {Wraith} path, the {Ghost} path, the {Spirit} path, the {Specter} path, and finally the {Phantom} path. Each path gives you a specific ability and the ability you need is {Dao Comprehension} of the {Phantom} path. Now you are a Soul Saint. The next level is Heavenly Soul realm where you can then choose the specialization you need. In your case you will choose to become a False Phantom as you comprehend a Dao and when you've condensed a full Domain, you can become a True Phantom. Being a True Phantom isn't the end, well, for most planes it is the end because of the lack of resources, but for other planes, like the Underworld it is merely the beginning." The Feminine voice said.
"System, is what she's saying real?" he asked the System for a confirmation.
{Yes, it is.}
To his dismay, instead of a mechanical voice, the System's voice was the same feminine voice he had been hearing from the entity.
Damon burned with curiosity, he ignored the pain he was feeling and then asked, "What did you do to my Requiem System exactly?"

Summoned
“Per aspera ad astra." Death. Mercilessly, it comes for all. But when a young man is given a second chance – a second life – to experience what he never has, what will he do? Leave the burdens of his past behind, improving upon his faults? Or will he collapse back into old sins, wasting the opportunity given to him? Perhaps even he himself does not know. * Join Andre on his journey as he explores a new world – one ripped straight from the pages of a D&D campaign he's never played. He will face monsters. He will face men. And above all, he will face himself. The story’s genre is your standard progression fantasy, isekai: magic, a system, and a level of technology suspiciously underdeveloped. I’ve borrowed tropes from various books I’ve read like “The Second Coming of Gluttony”. The similarities are there (particularly in the beginning), but I assure you the story is my own. It’s in the first-person perspective and has its own quirks, characters, and world for you to become immersed in. The upload schedule for this will be different from the usual fictions on this site: I’ll release chapters in batches rather than so many a week. I’m a college student, so I don’t want another deadline to worry about. Depending on the popularity/demand of the series, I might increase or decrease the rate of releases. Other than that, I hope you enjoy the story! P.S. This is my first fiction so make sure to point out mistakes wherever you see them. I’m doing this, partly, to increase my skill as a writer. However, be kind! I’m fragile, you know? Warning: ***This is far from your happy-go-lucky, feel-good adventure story. There will be content that some of you might not be comfortable with. And if you're already feeling skeptical reading this, click away and don't come back. If you're still here, what are you waiting for?***
