《I can summon my past lives》01 - I want to become stronger

"Haah! This life sucks. Why was I even born?" said the melancholic Damon Kaze.
He continued, "Maybe I should try my luck by becoming a knight in the army. There are no wars right now, it's not like my life will be in danger. The only good thing about it is that I will be able to stay fit and learn so many things that aren't accessible to me right now."
He had just turned 18 years old and the Saint Samaritan Orphanage was kicking him out to fend for himself and make place for the new little ones since he was old enough to look after himself...in theory.
"It seems I'm going to miss these leisurely eighteen years. I'm now the last of my class that still had the shamelessness to stay at the orphanage. Everybody else has found odd jobs in the city. Sigh, now everyone thinks I'm a lazy loser, but it's the feeling that I miss something important. I feel deep within myself that it makes everything look mundane for me." He said.
He was sitting on the ground in the shade under the only giant tree in the orphanage.
It was not for lack of trying. He never lasted more than a week in any of the odd jobs he had the chance to work at.
That feeling of emptiness ate away at his soul daily, making him feel morose.
"I have no idea what to do. Am I going to starve to death? What do I do now?" He said, sighing loudly.
[Conditions met. The Requiem System will now start.]
"Wait! What now?" He said after hearing a mechanical voice in his head.

[System bonded]
[Welcome to the REQUIEM SYSTEM host.]
[A newbie package has been issued. Please check it soon.]
"What the f**k is going on? Am I finally going crazy?" said Damon as he held his head with cold sweat all over his body.
He was thinking that it was finally time that he lost his mind...him, who always saw himself as being so different from the people around him.
He closed his eyes to calm himself for a bit, but then he found out that he could still see the window that was floating before his eyes earlier.
"This...this thing is real. I can't hallucinate with my eyes closed. This thing is truly real." he thought, amazed by his discovery. He indeed couldn't hallucinate with his eyes closed and it was the spark he needed to calm himself once he accepted that everything was real.
He focused on the blinking icon in the form of a basket on the screen. Another window opened showing {Newbie package. Open? Yes-No}
He thought {Yes}, just to see what would happen.
[

He felt a surge of power in his body. He felt stronger, so strong that he could lift a 1000 kg effortlessly.
[Would you like to play the Lottery or acquire your first Requiem Soul?]
'Let's play the lottery and see what comes out?' he thought.

{Lottery x3 commencing.}
{x1 attempt : failed}
{x2 attempt : failed}
{x3 attempt : Successful. You've gained [Gravity SoulBlood x1] (Legendary). Would you like to fuse with it?}
Damon now thought that this was the moment of truth. He said, "Yes!" Whether real or not everything would be revealed.
The red orb that was called [Gravity SoulBlood] in the transparent window then materialized before him and took the form of a drop of blood that inserted itself between his eyebrows and disappeared inside his head.
He could feel it burying itself in his brain and then nothing. He felt nothing.
A few seconds later, it was like a sixth invisible limb had appeared on him.
He felt that he could control...something.
He didn't know what Gravity really was but he was discovering it now as information that he thought he had always known poured into his mind. There was an eerie feeling behind it all. It wasn't like normal memories, but he understood how to use his new powers.
He concentrated and then looked at his feet to make sure that he wasn't dreaming.
Slowly but surely, he started leaving the ground and floating in the air...and while he was in the air, he thought about having a fist sized rock not far from him fly into the sky….and it did...then he willed it to fall to the ground at the fasted speed and it exploded into powder when it touched the ground sending a cloud of sand in the air.
The applications were endless and he knew it.
"Requiem System, what's a Requiem Soul?" he asked. Now that he ascertained that everything was real, it couldn't hurt to know a little bit more about his new powers.
[It is the soul of one of your previous lives.]
"Such a thing exists? Alright open it." He said, eager to meet his past self.
[Choose one of the following 3 choices.]
{Mad Alchemist}
{Empyrean Artificer}
{Blood Emperor}
"Can I at least have an introduction to know who or what they were in their previous lives?" He asked.
[No! You do not have that authority yet. The only thing you can see are their titles.]
He didn't know what an {Empyrean Artificer} was, so he decided to let it go.
As for the {Blood Emperor}, he thought it best to steer clear of anything related to blood. Who knew, perhaps this past self was one of those vampires. He now felt that those stories of bloodsuckers weren't too far fetched.
"{Mad Alchemist} it is then!"
[Understood.]
A circle appeared around him. In a few moments, he was stuck in a black sphere within which he had no idea what was happening from the inside.
Then, it ended just as abruptly as it had started.
He was left standing there, wondering what had really happened inside that black sphere.
It was then that he heard a voice, "Hey! Who are you? Why am I here? This, surely isn't the afterlife is it?"
Damon Kaze, turned around to see an old white man with a bald head and an exaggeratedly long beard that almost touched the ground.
"So I was white in my past life...I'm a half-white myself." said Damon out loud.

As if the old man could read his mind, the old man said, "You are my reincarnation. Well, now I can say that I have finally seen everything. The irony is that it happened after my death. Tell me how did you summon me here?"
"It is my power." said Damon. In fact, he didn't know if this old man was bad news or not. At least, he should be more trustworthy that a {Blood Emperor}.
The old man then closed his eyes and then concentrated.
He was scanning his soul body.
The old man then said, "It seems that I came here with my immortal soul and all the goodies I stored within it prior to my death."
He then scanned his surroundings.
He was disappointed, "This planet only has mortals. They have no idea how to cultivate. Lets see what is around this planet."
He then scanned half of the universe. That's how far his divine sense could reach.
The old man was shocked, " This is impossible. How could such a universe grow to this extent and still remain unpopulated? All these resources, all those spirit stone mines I just saw. All untouched. Gods!"
With a greedy gaze, the old man then looked at Damon.
Damon then tried to lighten the atmosphere, "Hey, old man, I don't like the look you're giving me. Quickly change it."
"To think the heavens would reward me, Old Man Mad Pill, after my longevity has ended. Hehehahaha. I'm going to take over your soul and start a new life with your body. As long as this universe remains undiscovered, I will finally plunder all its resources and finally become a True Immortal." Old Man Mad Pill said as he approached Damon.
As Mad Pill was about to touch the forehead of Damon who couldn't move under the pressure released by the old man, a deep voice was heard, "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
Old Man Mad Pill then said, "Another reincarnation? Show yourself!"
A black man covered in tattoos and wearing only a loincloth then stepped out of the shade as if he had been there all along.
Mad Pill could feel that this new Soul Body was stronger than himself from the residual pressure being released by the black man.
The black man then said, "Jata Akil at your service."
Mad Pill was curious, "How long have you been by his side?"
Evidently, Mad Pill wanted to know why a being stronger than himself could resist taking over this poor Damon's body. He also wanted to know when Jata had been summoned.
Jata held his hands behind his back and then said, "Ever since he was born, I was also summoned here. A baby had no use for me so I never showed myself."
Damon was now scared. There had been someone watching his every move from when he was born. A thought then appeared in his mind, 'Does he know who my parents are?'. 'He must.'
Seeing the hope he had always yearned for, he couldn't wait to know where he had come from.
Mad Pill then said, "Why did you never try to take over his body?"
Jata Akil then answered, "Because I have no need for it. I already lived a full blissful life. Stealing the life of another would insult me and what I stand for. You Immortal cultivators take everything for granted as long as you have the strength or sufficient backing. Therefore, I do not expect you to understand my choice...however, if you feel like you are stronger than the power capable of reviving your departed Immortal soul, feel free to try taking that power for yourself and then accept the consequences...because that's what it means taking over Damon's body."
Mad Pill had lived for a long time. He wouldn't live as long as he did and even die from depletion of longevity: the rarest cause for a cultivator to die from, multiple reasons being murders and cultivation deviation.
He had lived a long time, so it stood to reason that he knew how to look out for himself. The number of calamities he had weathered were numerous.
After thinking it over, Mad Pill then decided to stop himself from courting death.
The pressure paralyzing Damon disappeared and he then turned to look at Jata, completely forgetting how he had almost been killed by the old man. 'Why does he also have a bald head? Am I also gonna go bald early in my life?' He thought after seeing yet another shining head.
"Please tell me, who are my parents?" asked a hopeful Damon Kaze.
Jata looked apologetic, he said, "She died shortly after giving birth to you...and from the way she kept saying the name of a man and how she wanted to be reunited with him in death, I think that's your departed father."
"No!" Damon was tearing up.
"You do have a twin Half-brother though..." Jata's voice trailed off.
"How is that even possible?" Damon said, thinking that Jata was saying nonsense to console him.
"A woman can indeed have twins but it doesn't necessarily mean that they are from the same father." said Jata Akil.
"Where is my brother now?" asked Damon.
"He's somewhere in this city and he's someone you can't approach. His family is filthy rich and his father loathes you. It was a maidservant of your mother that took you away and hid you in this orphanage to protect you. Should that man find out about your whereabouts, he'll try to kill you with everything he has...not that that matters now with us two around...I do not care whether you die or not but that Old Man Mad Pill sure would care...I do not think he'd like to die a second time...hehehe." said Jata Akil.
A new feeling then started growing inside Damon Kaze's body.
He wanted to become stronger.
So strong that he could beat these two reincarnations of himself.
So strong that he could protect his loved ones.
So strong that he should never feel empty inside.
"Requiem System, what can you do exactly?" He asked inside his head to keep everything secret, but he had a nagging feeling that his mind wasn't just his. These two reincarnations could very well be listening in on him.
