《Promise》Chapter 50: Burn in Hell

Kyle's face and eyes might not show much emotion. He looked calm and calculated just like always, but inside Kyle was a different man altogether. He was furious, he just wanted to inflict pain on Gabriel, the one who dared to try to kill his best friend. If the situation was any different, Kyle would just jump right in and deliver a beating to Gabriel. But he knew he needed to keep his calm and make sure Gabriel did not have something up his sleeve.
“I know you, you were the one that was with this girl when we took you in for the first time” Gabriel said. “So, this is all your doing huh ?” “YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS” he yelled.
“You took the words right out of my mouth,” Kyle replied. Allan quickly got up there as well but Kyle signaled him not to step closer. “Just make sure that the others are safe, this one is mine” Kyle spoke. Allan nodded and took a step back and stood guards for Maria and an injured Liam. They both knew very well by now that Gabriel did not fight fair, and he would go for the others as a way to win a battle. Around them, screams and fights were going on, but to Kyle and Gabriel, it was only silent, as they were anticipating their opponent's first move.
And then the silence broke, Kyle made the first move. Kyle was relentless as always, pushing Gabriel back, making him unable to counter attacks but only to defend himself. But Gabriel showed he was no useless henchman. He successfully blocked every attack, his swordsmanship was nothing to laugh about. After getting into the rhythm and figuring out Kyle's style, Gabriel finally countered.
Now it was Kyle's turn to defend himself and it showed very clearly that he was not as good in defending as he was in attacking, Kyle could barely block Gabriel attacks. And in the end Gabriel came out on top, he managed to cut Kyle on his left arm while Kyle did not manage to land a single attack on Gabriel. “So much barking and this is all you have to show, how pathetic. You aren’t even worthy of dying by my hand” Gabriel spoke.
Kyle immediately replied. He rushed right at Gabriel, using his offence strength to cover for his lack of defensive disadvantage. However, the result was the same, although Kyle tried to change his rhythm and striking style, Gabriel still managed to block and counter him. This time Gabriel even managed to disarm Kyle, knocking Kyle’s sword away with his skillful swordsmanship.

“ I must say I’m disappointed, all that built up was for nothing. But who am I kidding here, I should not expect anything more from a low life like yourself.” Gabriel said.
“Not bad for a guy with no dick, but playtime is over I’m afraid” Kyle replied.
“What did you say !?” Gabriel yelled, he immediately attacked Kyle however, the ending was not as he expected. Without the sword, Kyle's movement was much quicker and much more unpredictable, he easily dodged all of Gabriel's attacks. And like he just said, playtime was over, this time around, Kyle showed Gabriel no mercy. From the normal view, it looked as though Kyle was just trying to dodge Gabriel’s attacks, like a prey running from its predator, but in reality, Kyle was just waiting for the right moment to attack, he was just waiting for Gabriel to make a single mistake like a predator ambushing its prey. And Gabriel felt for it, losing his composure was his downfall, wildly attacking Kyle because he was taunted and because Kyle was disarmed. When Kyle saw Gabriel swinging his sword a little too much to the left, exposing his right side defendless, he countered. With fancy footwork, he completely dodged Gabriel's attack and got closer to him on the right side, he immediately grabbed onto Gabriel wirst, the one that was holding the sword, twisted it around and took control of it. Next he used his specialty, with a hard blow to the upper middle of Gabriel’s arm, Kyle dislocated Gabriel's left shoulder, making Gabriel drop his weapon. Next a thunderous low kick to Gabriel's right ankle and back knee, the result was a completely broken ankle and dislocated knee. Gabriel screamed in pain and dropped to the ground, barely standing on his good knee. But Kyle was merciless, took control of Gabriel right and the only good arm he had left, Kyle twisted it until it reached its breaking point. Gabriel screamed and begged Kyle to stop but rather than that, he got a taste of his own medicine. Kyle then slowly broke Gabriel’s right arm step by step, first he slowly increased the pressure on Gabriel's wrist, twisting it backward until he could feel that it was steadily being torned apart. Next, Kyle kicked Gabriel elbow repeatedly from the back until it was literally bending over backward and finally Kyle twisted Gabriel’s arm backward into an unnatural position then with his feet, pushed Gabriel’s body, this was exactly like what Gabriel did with Liam from earlier, pressing his feet onto Liam’s wound. But this time Gabriel was the one being torture and Kyle did not stop until he heard a pop, both of Gabriel shoulder were now dislocated.

Kyle then pushed Gabriel forward until he was right in front of Maria and Liam, then Kyle got Gabriel back up on his knee and pulled his hair back, forcing him to see the both of them. Kyle then casually picked up Gabriel’s sword on the ground and put it on his throat.
“Good sword, too bad the one who wielded it sucked,” Kyle said. And with that, Kyle slowly cut Gabriel’s throat, not enough to kill him right away, but just enough so that blood came pouring out of the wound. And with both of his hands were now broken, Gabriel could not do anything but falled to the ground and then choked on his own blood.
“Burn in Hell you motherfucker !” Maria spoke as she kicked him straight in his face, breaking his nose. Gabriel died moments later, not from losing too much blood or all the internal bleeding Kyle caused him, but from suffocation by his own blood blocking the airway, a slow and painful death.
Kyle looked at the short sword that he just equipped himself.
Sword of agility, +10 damage and +10 Agility. It was perfect for him, Kyle was not comfortable using a longsword anyway, the fight with Gabriel really highlighted that for him. At least with this shortsword, he could move more freely, and the bonus Agility stat was nice.
Kyle checked back on Liam who was still lying on the ground under the care of Maria.
“Is he gonna be ok ?” Kyle asked. Before Maria could answered, Liam spoke up for himself
“I’m all good. Now go and burn this Temple to the ground !”.
Kyle nodded and then stood back up,ready to make his way through the main entrance of the Temple.
“Take good care of him will ya” Kyle spoke to Maria and Allan then ran toward the Temple, the only thing on his mind at the moment: “Kill the bitch”.
Killing anyone who stood in his way no matter who they were, guards, priests or priestesses. Everyone who was unfortunately enough to be in his way would meet his blade. Kyle went through every hall, every room in the Temple to find the one he was looking for. To make sure no one could hide, to every hall or room, he used a torch nearby and burned the whole thing to the ground and within a short time, the Temple was on fire. Then finally, he heard a very familiar voice, a voice of a woman ordering someone else to stop him. He got her, Kyle rushed toward the voice and got a glimpse of her before she ran into the Temple’s main hall, disappearing from his vision again. The people she left behind to stop him were only a few priests whose only weapon was spears and they couldn’t even hold them right. Kyle ran straight at them, wasting no time as his true prey were so close to him now. With every swing of his new blade Kyle cut down his enemies. After only a couple of minutes, he painted the hall red with the priests' blood. Kyle made quick work of them, priests were meant for being support characters, healing wounds and casting magic from afar, not hand to hand combat, especially against someone like Kyle. It took him
He quickly picked up his pace and followed the High Priestess to the main hall. When he reached inside, received an unexpected welcome from her.
“Stop right there you demon, what do you think you’re doing ? killing innocent lives in the hall of the Goddess” the High Priestess said.
“What I was sent here to do and what you should have done, killing monsters ” Kyle replied as he ignored what she had to say and went straight for her.
“Insolent little brat, you shall die under the hand of the Goddess” the High Priestess pulled out a scroll and chanted in a strange language. Suddenly, a large beam of light appeared blocking the way between Kyle and the High Priestess. And when it stopped, Kyle saw a giant monster in front of him. Half man half bull, a Minotaur.
“Behold the Goddess has sent her champion to aid my prayer” the High Priestess laughed, her eyes went crazy.
“Bullshit, you just used that scroll to do a summoning spell, didn’t you. There is your backup plan when shit gets out of hand, am I right. You can just drop the act you sick bitch, no one can hear you now” Kyle said.
The High Priestess just yelled out an order to the Minotaur as a reply “Go my Champion, show him the power of the Goddess”. The Minotaur immediately followed her order and rushed toward Kyle with all its might. That monster was many times bigger than Kyle so he knew right away that facing it head on was not the right move. Kyle had to step back for now, buying his time until he could find a way to defeat this monster.
