《Manaweaver》Chapter 12

The week before moving went by smoothly. Roy and Emily quickly notified their employers of their leaving and prepared their little amount of savings to find a new home in a new city.
Susy was relentless with questions for James about magic but didn’t progress any further considering he would not teach her anything. James did not want to give to much of a hint to his past life and mainly spoke about stories of mages flying while fighting dragons when speaking to Susy. That seemed to do the trick because Susy would end up daydreaming even during mealtime.
James made sure he used Lightning augment whenever he had chance to trying increase his chance of leveling the spell up. It was a bit difficult being able to move around normally with the spell active but just took some time to get used too. This also helped build his control over his body and mana when using the spell on different limbs.
He did not want to add anymore lightning spells now considering he was trying to have a wide variety of elementals. His last life gave him lots of knowledge on lightning spells which he planned to utilize after his second class upgrade and his amount of spells he can learn has increased.
Quickly the day to start to the trip to school came to the town of Othar. James and his family made their way to the town’s entrance to meet with the school officials.
There were three small groups separated with a different color robed mage leading each one. The low-tier school group had a blue robed mage with two crystals, mid-tier had a three-crystal green robed mage, and finally the high-tier school had a white robed three crystal mage also being the strongest.
The white robed mage was old and had a beard down to his chest while holding a staff that had a huge white mana crystal at the top. James could feel the holy element being released from the mage which gave off a serene feeling but also made him alert. The staff he carried was also extremely powerful and had many enchantments from what James could tell.

Emily quickly elbowed James to get his attention away from staring causing him to look away and stare down before following his family to his designated group.
Joining the group James quickly counted the number of kids that would be attending the same school as him and his sister. He noticed the group had him, his sister, both the Loor kids, and six other kids dressed in decent clothes. Throughout the groups some had their families also coming on the trip, so this helped James and his family not stand out.
“Attention everybody my name is Angelina, and I am a Forest Mage at the third class and my element is nature. We will be traveling to Anephis city and Xavier academy together, so I hope we get along. It will be around a week long trip and occasionally we will be staying nights at inns but mostly outdoors. Around day five we should be at the city Feres where we will take a magic train the rest of the way. We will need to stay together and be mindful of any attacks on the group. We should be safe with me and the apprentices protecting everyone but just in case be ready to defend yourself or run,” The green robe mage said with an almost excited feminine voice. James just realized she was female and finally noticed the long blonde hair, green eyes, and accentuated features on her face. She looked to have a medium build but still was decently pretty.
“I would take questions, but we really must be on our way. I have lots of research to do so we mustn't waste any time. I can only hope I can create the potion at school because the materials could go bad if it takes too long and…..,” At this point James cleared his mind of the mages ramblings to look over his family.

Susy looked excited while James and Emily had a look of determination on their faces.
Eventually the speech from the excited potion making mage Angelina was done and she was giving out quick orders to the apprentices. There were seven apprentices total with four being mages wearing gray robes. The other three were physical classers who wielded a sword with a shield, a spear, and last one a bow and arrow. They all had the same leather armor which was dyed gray like the robes the mages wore. Gray probably had some significance in the school but James would have to find out later.
Angelina waited till the other schools finished their speeches and with a nod between the three group leaders they all set off.
The white robed mage pulled out some magic stones then laid them in a circle and with quick incantation disappeared with his two students.
James could hear a sigh from Angelina as she led the group towards the northern part of the eastern quadrant.
The group was mostly quiet as they were walking, and everyone kept themselves. They covered a good amount of ground and kept at a constant pace.
James noticed most of the kids didn’t have their families traveling with them and eventually formed some clicks. Out of the six extra kids, not including James, his sister, or the Loor kids, were two girls that ended up together. There were also another two girls, but they were traveling with their families as well. He also overheard the Loor boy trying to rope in the two lone boys to join but James knew they were for the wrong reason. The Loor boy wanted power and needed people to command because that was the life, he grew up in.
Eventually the group took a break to eat and Angelina with the apprentices went out of sight to discuss, well James had no idea.
Emily made a fire and heated up some soup she had prepared for the family. There were lots of so she gave some to James and Susy to give to the lone kids. They walked up the two girls huddled together and offered some soup but they were turned down with appreciative smiles. Being away from their family probably made things even more difficult for them. The girls made small talk about dresses and magic with Susy before they left to offer the rest of kids.
James and Susy walked up to the Loor kids and the two boys that ended falling in line to the Loor boy. James knew this would most likely be lead to some type of trouble.

Join her as she battles giant monsters, strange locals, and feelings of insignificance in the hopes she might one day return to a world that makes sense. AN: This story is an attempt to overcome insecurity regarding the quality of my writing by practicing with intentional schlock. "Just write," as the advice goes. While it may not be masterfully plotted, the subject matter is one close to my heart and one that I endeavor to explore in a new light. Ashes of Heaven
Han Xuhan, our protagonist, is an ordinary mortal orphan who sets out on a journey to become immortal by joining a sect. Turns out he might not be our protagonist. Aaaand, his journey might have been fabricated. Also, it seems like he isn't really an ordinary mortal. Oh, who am I kidding? It's obvious at this point. That entire first sentence was a lie. Let us pretend that sentence doesn't exist there. Sadly, he hasn't exactly been informed of that fact. So we get to watch him trudge on his path as a cultivator. How long will he survive in a xianxia world by relying only on his dao of meta? Oh? Does that plot feel predictable? Fine!
