《The Hereafter》The New World, Part 1

I brushed my hair in my room, sitting on a chair when suddenly my mother exclaimed. "Wryn, guests are here!"
Running out of my room, I shouted. "Coming!"
What I witnessed in front of me was something that surprised me: near the entrance, there were two well-dressed individuals with a child.
I rubbed my eyes, glaring at the posh couple with their princess-looking girl. In my old world, these individuals would be passed off as royalty. Gazing at the individuals, I examined their features, becoming even more confused. 'Why were these posh individuals in my shabby old house?' They didn't belong in such a place...
My mother pointed at each individual. "Honey, this is Dray Goode, Rayna Goode, and this precious girl is Allura."
"Greetings, Mr.Dray and Mrs. Rayna," I lifted my lips, letting my teeth show.
My father ushered the guests in, tilting his head and looking at me."Go show Allura your cool book."
I couldn't help but be slightly pissed as to why my parents didn't notify me about guests. I mean, I guess I was only twelve, but it would've been helpful.
"Follow me," I pressed my lips, lowering my head.
She glanced at me up and down. "Okay."
Damn it, had my life come to such a pitiful state, I was flexing a book to a girl. Plus, it's not like I wanted to engage in any form of conversation with her. I was like six times her age…
"Whatever," I whispered to myself, shaking my head, continuing to walk.
Allura's parents were the ideal-looking family. A good-looking husband and a stunning wife. Their daughter seemed to be obedient and maybe good-looking...
I didn't want any more interaction. I just wanted to sleep. All of it was so frustrating because of my mental age.
"Uhhh," Allura noised, staring at me in confusion.
I jutted my head, creating eye contact with her. "Sorry, I got lost in thought."
I grabbed my third birthday gift, staring at it and letting out a chuckle. "Here you go." I extended my arms, holding my ancient birthday gift.
Allura grabbed the book, examining the cover and back page. She sat crisscrossed on the floor near my bed and started reading. She was sitting in a manner that would make one think she was a princess.
My curiosity about the Goode family intensified because why would such posh individuals come to such an area?
Allura began flipping through the book, reading each page. Her pace was unnatural, but her eyes carefully scanned each word, meaning she was actually reading.
The book consisted of the basics and some of the more complex diction. I was pretty well-rehearsed when it came to the language. I mean, I literally only did one thing from when I was three to four, read that damn book.
I wished that I received other gifts for my birthdays, but all I got were special feasts which weren't any different than our normal dinners. If anything, they were less extravagant.
I sat on my bed, waiting for Allura to finish.
Glancing down, I noticed Allura still reading the book. Looking carefully at her, I couldn't help but notice her elegance.
She was as tall as me, maybe even slightly taller. She had smooth black hair and glittering blue eyes, similar to her mother, who had black hair, except her mother had black eyes. Her father had gray hair and blue eyes and was decently sturdy.

'The Goode family was your ideal family. So why are they here?' I shook my head from embarrassment as I sounded way too envious.
Allura politely spoke, closing the book. "Wryn, was it?"
I nodded my head, glancing in her direction. "That's me!"
Allura gazed up at the ceiling, almost like she was at a loss for words. Perhaps she was thinking about something? I mean, I got lost in my thoughts quite often.
I opened my mouth, but before I could ask what she was looking at, she grew an oddish smile and questioned. "Do you have any hobbies?"
Was she trying to ask me a trick question? It was stupid to think about, but that devilish smirk on Allura made it seem like she was genuinely pulling something mischievous.
'Should I talk about plants,' I shook my head, shrugging. "I guess I like to read that book-"
Before even finishing my sentence, she interrupted me by standing up. She waved the book in the air. "Your book is quite easy to read. Honestly, it wasn't much of a challenge."
I didn't know how to respond...
'Perhaps we should do something else?' I thought, but I remembered what the hell was there to do in a rundown house anyways.
I bit my nail, getting ready to speak, but thankfully, my mother called. "Wryn, come out for food."
"That's our call," I avoided eye contact, standing up.
We both walked into the small living room as I peeked at the robotic-like movement of the girl.
'Was she trained how to walk?' I furrowed my brows.
Her movements weren't natural. It seemed like she was walking to impress somebody.
No, it was more like she was doing it to keep a certain standard of adequate. Possibly I was indulging in her minute movements with too much detail.
I closed my eyes, letting a smile develop. "We're here."
The adults resided in the kitchen, speaking with each other and looking at what I thought was food.
The kitchen was attached to the living room, convenient for access to food. The house I lived in wasn't anything special, but at least it was cozy.
"How was the book?" My father asked, gazing at Allura and me.
Allura nodded her head. "The book was interesting to read."
My father smiled, holding two plates. "Great to hear." He gave us the plates while the other adults grabbed their own. We all clutched onto the plates, carefully walking to the living room.
Sitting down on the sofa, I sniffed the breathtaking meat and rice. I swore that I could see the aroma of the food waving around! Everyone situated themselves in the living room, eating the savory dish.
As we devoured the flavourful food, Mr.Dray paused eating and asked. "Have you taken Wryn to Fech?"
My mother was engaging in conversation with Mrs.Rayna. They were too deep into their discussion to be bothered.
Lifting my eyebrows and gazing at the man, I had the compulsion to blurt out: What the hell is Fech? But I shut my lips, refraining myself from doing so. I shifted my eyes towards my father. "No."
My father glanced at me with wide eyes, but I ignored it.

Mr. Dray straightened his composure, looking at me. "Have you heard of the Kingdom of Fech?"
I shook my head. "No."
He closed his eyes, smiling. "Winton, that won't do at all! You better teach this young man about our history!"
"He's still too young to understand all the complexities," my father responded, continuing to eat his food.
Mr. Dray laughed, gripping his fork. "No one is too young to learn about the beautiful country that is Fech!"
'It seemed as if my parents were too protective for their own good,' I nodded my head, paying attention to Mr. Dray.
"Listen up because what I'm going to say can get confusing," Mr. Dray grinned, waving his fork in the air. "Fech is the main city of our country, but we still refer to the whole country as Fech."
He took a breath, eating a forkful of rice. "The all-powerful King Arthur resides in the center of Fech. The country of Fech has main cities and lesser cities; the lesser cities circularly surround the city of Fech. This helps strategically due to the vast land of The Ghost Rifts. The Ghost Rifts are just empty land, meaning no human inhabitants other than those who choose to venture into it. By no means do all the lesser cities have to deal with Ghost Rifts, but the cities that aren't surrounded by the Ghost Rifts have to deal with the Boundless Forest."
Looking to my right, I noticed my father was disinterested. I wasn't sure why, but he seemed bothered by the information.
"Have I lost you?" Mr. Dray asked, biting a piece of meat off his fork.
"Please, continue," I blinked at the man, becoming slightly concerned about his enthusiasm regarding history.
"Still, the cities that have to deal with the Boundless Forest are heavily guarded." He let go of his fork, adding. "Back to my point! Currently, we are on the outskirts of Darka. If you go more to the right, you will reach Coribi, and if you move even further, you will reach Zarurich. After Zarurich, you make it to Evamea. Finally, from Evamea comes Darka. Of course, I say go further, but I mean to say go further in a circular motion if you get what I am saying. In the lesser cities, there are provinces, and depending on the city, there can be dozens. Each province has its own type of indicator. This helps individualize people and where they come from."
I narrowed my eyes and raised my hand. "Does that mean the city of Fech also has provinces?"
Mr. Dray softly applauded, giving me a smile. "Fech also has provinces, but the names of these provinces change every so often. This is because of the implemented system that our mighty King Arthur has. He allows his greatest soldiers the honor of having their own province in Fech. We should definitely go out someday and get some sweets. Fech has the best sweets!"
"When you refer to Fech, does that mean the city of Fech or all of it?" I asked, confused with what I discovered in the den. I heard about cities, but an area like Fech was never discussed.
"We refer to the city of Fech as Fech and the country as the country of Fech," he answered, picking up his fork and taking another bite.
What the actual bloody hell, I lived in a kingdom with a literal King! The country also seemed to be somewhat complex. What the hell had I gotten myself into? I mean, it wasn't like I had a choice...
And, If what I was hearing was correct, then I doubted an advanced civilization could create a tool like I saw when I was conceived. There was no way a kingdom could be advanced as a society. Plus, my own home and my time in the den were a testament to society not being advanced. For fuck sake, the den looked like it came out of a 16th-century movie.
The unknown supposition the device created allowed me some hope. The society I resided in could work differently than in my past life.
'I could interrogate my parents about the device,' I thought, staring up at the ceiling, but I knew that I couldn't since my parents would discover that I was reincarnated. Begging the question. 'Would they still consider me their son?'
"Are you up for it?" Mr. Dray asked, clearing his throat.
Staring at the floor, I looked up at the man, examining his features. 'Will history repeat itself as it did with Hedwer?' I closed my eyes, opening them. 'I promised to forget about those days..."
I rubbed my eyes and nodded my head. "I'll take you up on your offer."
Mr. Dray placed his plat down, grinning. "Great, why not tomorrow!"
"Sure! That's fantastic," I grinned, tilting my head in surprise.
A few hours passed by, conversations started ceasing. Additionally, Allura had been sleeping on the couch for around an hour. Frankly, she may have been sleeping even longer. I didn't even hear a chirp out of her...
Mr. Dray stood up and rubbed Allura's head, waking her up. "It's time to get up."
My mother and Mrs. Rayna conversed at the entrance, waiting for the others. Mr. Dray neared the entrance with Allura, waving at me, while the rest exited the house. My family followed them outside, closing the door, leaving me inside.
I patiently waited for them to come back. After five minutes, they came inside, displaying a tired look.
My mother yawned, heading to her bedroom. "Good night."
My dad placed his hand on my shoulder, forming a bright expression. "It's about time we take you to other places." He let go, waving at me as he headed to his room.
"Thank you," I yawned, placing my hand on my mouth.
I wondered why I was so secluded. Possibly my parents had a good reason.
"Oh well, that all changes tomorrow," I whispered, walking to my room. I turned my body and grabbed a pillow, placing it on my head.
It wasn't long until I was fast asleep.
