Lucius continued running down the labyrinth path, with a trail of Horusks on his trail. As he came to a fork in the road he came to a plaque in the center of the roads.

“Patience is a virtue many cannot hold, Stay on one road and you will reach your goal.”

“Interesting,” Lucius said, running past the plaque.

KAKKAA!

A horusk came down from his right side trying to claw him.

“Only one? If I time my counter right…I should have learned from last time”

As soon as the bird came into range, Lucius swiped his balde across its eyes, freezing it into the palace.

10/100 Souls

“Nice! Now I have enough souls for a judgement cut!” He proclaimed, Waiting on the other birds to close in.

“Judgement cut!” He yelled, slicing them all with one swipe.

The sky lit up with a bright golden glow, as he purged 12 of the Horusks in one swipe of his sword.

“Now to find my way out of here” Lucius said.

Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!

Once again the labyrinth changed its course shifting him to a new area. When the shifting had finally stopped he once again came face to face with the girl he had seen earlier.

Lucius looked her up and down, and continued on his journey.

“Wait!” The girl said.

“What do you want?” Lucius said. “I’ve got no time to waste, I’m going to get out of this place.” He said.

“I may have underestimated you” She said. “You were able to take out 13 of those baby Horusks in one swipe”

“What do you mean baby?” Lucius said. “Those things were human sized”

“In the morning the baby birds come to pester us, and when the sun sets, that's when the Mother birds come out, you’ll never get rest in this place.” She said.

Lucius looked carefully at the girl noticing the bags under her eyes.

“Just how long have you been in this maze?” Lucius asked.

“About 2 weeks now” She answered.”Its been almost 2 months since I left eden.”

“She's been at this nonstop for two weeks?” He thought. “Just how long am I going to be here?”

KROOOO!!

Lucius looked over his shoulder to find an immens creature making its way to him. It had white feathers that looked like straw lined all across its body, and the image of a scarecrow face imprinted on its head in gold print. It had no face, and no legs. Only two incredibly long arms with sharp talons at the end, and a draping coat of feathers that ended at the waste.

“Shit!” He said running.

As he turned behind him he could see the girl wasn’t moving an inch.

“What is she going to do against that huge thing?” He thought

Along the girls cape were 7 different colored pendants. They were long and sharp gems, that were shaped like swords.

Reaching onto the side of her cape she ripped out a purple sword.

Whipping off of her cape she drew an bow that was hoisted to her back that was previously hidden by the cape.

Placing the sword into the bow she aimed it at the creature.

“Mysticccc” She began chanting “Shot!”

She fired the purple arrow into the beast, it left a trail of violet light behind it as it pierced its target.

KRooooooo!

The giant bird wailed as it burst into billion sof little pockets of light.

“So this is how normal angels fight, am I the only one who can stop time?” Lucius thought.

“What… what was that?” Lucius said

“Mystic shot, one of the strongest spells in my Codex,” The woman said. “It took up about half my mana, but it will buy us some time until the others arrive.”

KROOOOOO!!!

In the distance, Lucius could see ten more Mother Horusks, coming into the labyrinth.

“Let's waste no time, and ge tout of here!" Lucius said

Lucius and the girl took off running into the next part of the labyrinth.

Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!

The labyrinth began to shift again. The ground they were standing on began to fall to pieces falling into a giant black hole below them.

Lucius and the girl began to drift apart, as the trail began to break up.

“Take my hand!” Lucius said, extending out his hand.

The girl hesitated looking down at the ground. It was a big jump, but she would definitely make it. As she positioned her feet a memory came into her head

“Let me go!” The girl cried as a man tried to pry her out of her sinking car. The car's roof had been flattened and the girl's leg was stuck inside.

“No Delilah” The man cried, desperately trying to pull her out of the car. He heaved as strongly as he could, but could not free her from the boulder that had dented the car and flattened her leg inside.

“You have to live!” She mouthed to him through the water. “Even if it’s without me!"

Sighing, the man got back into the car, sitting beside her as they drowned to their deaths.

“There is no life without you” He mouthed to her kissing her gently on the cheek as he began to lose air

“Nooo!” Delilah cried. “Samson!”

(back to present)

“I’m sorry,” She said as the labyrinth pulled them apart. “Maybe it's best if we part here...”

“Why? Does she always put space between us? Doesn’t she know teamwork is the best way…”

Lucius froze, remembering another person who had put space between him.

“Hey Lucas, want to play some video games?” He said punching his little brother in the arm.

“No… I’m alright” Lucas said continuing reading his manga.

“Hmmm… Berzerk? Why are you reading something depressing like that!” Lucius said.

“Its… comforting” Lucas said.

“Well how about we go and play catch with the football! I absolutely hate it as it literally provides no value, but you haven’t smiled all day! I know you're stressed about the exams but you’ve got this!” Lucius said.

“Thanks Lucius,” Lucas said. “But I’m Ok, I just need some rest before the exam.”

(Present)

“Damn it all to hell!” Lucius yelled. Throwing his blade into the air he landed it into the eye of a Mother Horusk.

As time froze, he jumped through the falling rocks making his way to the other side of the Labyrinth.

“Why?” Delilah thought “Why would he go to such lengths for a stranger?”

"I don't knwo what kind of things you've been through" Lucius said jumpin got another falling rock. "But you can't let the past hold you back! This is a new life! Use this chance to start over, and become something new!"

Lucius landed onto the platform where she was standing, breathing heavily.

"Look, I don't know what your talking about, I just like being alone is all" The girl said shrugging her shoulders.

"Stop it" Lucius said.

“Not bad, freezing time isn’t always going to save your life tho.” She said. “You got lucky this-”

Lucius ran to her, squeezing her in his arms.

“What's wrong with you!” She said.

Lucius's eyes flashed gold as a stream of energy emitted from them. After a moment, he relaxed his hold on her, softly craessing her.

“Its ok,” Lucius said. “You don’t have to hurt anymore.”

“What are you talking about?” She said.

“In this world angels can share memories, I can’t see all of them, but the moment I embraced you, I could see what happened to Samson, I’m here for you Delilah” Lucius said.

Lucius’s memory flashed by Delilah

“Thats impossible! Lucas has straight A’s right? He’s a genius! Just like me! I can’t believe this! I’ll go into his room and get a test score right now! They must have made a mistake!”

Lucius...I couldn't become the genius you wanted me to be…”

Delilah started trembling in his arms, slowly falling apart as he comforted her.

“Thank you Lucius,” She said, crying. “Your brother would be proud!”

She wrapped her arms around him squeezing him tight.

“Lucas” Lucius thought. “I’ll never neglect a person in pain again.” He declared. “No matter how distant they seem.
