《No Matter What, I Will Get Back Home!》(24) I Have to Help My Friends!

I stood there, utterly chilled to the core of my own body. The scene that I was bearing witness to terrified me completely, so much so that my entire body refused to move at all.

A wolf missing its head laid on the ground, right next to Feliza. She was busy lying down on the ground with her left shoulder mangled and ripped to shreds, and her entire body covered heavily in blood. Sally was busy crouching and cowering from the scene of the incident, sobbing and crying endlessly.

"Don't look, Buan!"

My vision was immediately covered up by my second oldest brother, Aliba, and I was forced to turn away from the incident.

"Juni, Eurie, and Alex, go and give the little brown haired miss some medical attention!" Verdent, my oldest brother, shouted. "Aliba, make sure Buan's fine! I'll go help out his other friend!"

Instantly, the noise of of movement reached my ears, and I could instantly tell what they were doing. However, before I could try to do anything, I was led away to another place.

We stopped after a few seconds, and the hands covering my eyes were taken off. I found myself looking at Aliba directly, with him putting both of his hands on my shoulders and looking at me in the eyes.

His normally relaxed face looked stressed, and his soft, gentle brown eyes were filled with concern. I looked at him as he simply sighed.

"Don't worry Buan, alright? Calm down," he said simply as he patted me on the head. "All of us are here, and we're going to make sure your friends are okay."

"Really? Can you guys do that?" Immediately after that remark left my mouth, my forehead was flicked playfully by my brother.

My hands flung towards my head, covering up the injury mark rapidly. I looked at my brother with small tears in his eyes, and he simply chuckled, and his beard began to sway up and down, almost as if it was a flower dancing in the wind.

"Of course we can! We're your reliable older brothers, what kind of people would we be if we can't do such a basic thing?" he said, giving me a smile that could have brightened up even the darkest of shadows. "We're on the case, and we'll make things right!"

I breathed out in relief, feeling that much better. My brother's pep talk was powerful, so strong that even the Sun Goddess would be impressed by its strength.

I got back up on my own two feet, feeling that much more optimistic about the circumstances now. If my brothers could put up such a good attitude in the midst of a seriously bad situation, then I could do the same!

"Alright! Then, let me help, big brother Aliba!" I said cheerfully as I rolled up my sleeves. After all, these were my friends! I had to help protect and save them!

"Just let us deal with this current situation, okay?" His smile strained a little as those words exited his mouth. He simply patted me on the head, before muffling up my hair. "You can help next time Buan. For now, let the adults fix this up."

I nodded silently at that statement. I didn't feel happy about not being able to help my friends, but if my older brothers were on the case, then they could probably do this easily and quickly.

Aliba and me walked towards the clearing once more, and I was surprised to see that things had gone for the better the last time I came by.

Sally was no longer cowering and sobbing. Instead, she was standing up and walking around with the help of my oldest brother, Verdent. She was still shaking like crazy, as though she was a leaf in a tornado.

I felt my mind relax with that sight. I was glad that she was okay and not as badly injured as Feliza was.

"Is... Is it over? Am I safe?" she asked with complete confusion, looking around as if she didn't understand what had happened.

"Yes, you're fine," My reliable older brother said as he helped her walk and gain her balance. "Everything's going to be okay now. Don't worry, Feliza protected you."

"She... she saved me?" Sally asked, completely confused, before looking at where Feliza. Then, she seemed to be struck with a moment of terror.

"The wolf! It's still he-" Before she could even finish her sentence, I watched as Verdent placed his hand on her shoulder gently, almost as if she was a small puppy.

"Calm down, little lady. The beast is dead," he said softly, "Look. The head of the wolf is completely pulverized."

She looked at the scene of the crime, before sighing in relief... then quickly turned to horror once more.

"Oh, by the Sun Goddess... Is Feliza going to live?" she asked, with a tone of complete anxiety, "Her shoulder... i-i-it's, it's gone!"

"What?" Verdent said, with utter confusion in his voice.

"Look!" Sally shouted, as she pointed her finger at where Feliza laid, "She's still injured! It looks really bad too!"

Instantly, my big brother turned towards the place she was pointing out, and his eyes widened as large as our plates. I turned towards the scene as well, and regretted doing so.

My three brothers were currently surrounding Feliza, with Juni and Eurie desperately spreading some kind of strange medical paste around the injury and Alex currently getting a roll of bandages ready.

Her injury didn't seem to have healed that much. Blood constantly oozed from the gaping wound, with bits and pieces of bone and there were flesh giblets that were slowly growing and reattaching itself.

I think that image will constantly be haunting me forever in my nightmares now.

"It's no good Verdent!" Juni shouted. "The paste isn't strong enough to heal her injury quickly! We can mitigate it, but we need to get her to the doctor!"

"Damn it!" Verdent said as he started moving on up. "We don't have much time then! We're going to have to carry and treat her on the way! Alex, Aliba, get to work on setting up a mobile hammock!"

"Got it!" Alex replied as he rapidly got up, so fast that I thought he was a rabbit, before quickly grabbing numerous sticks and vines. Aliba left my side and ran towards Alex to help him set up the cot to transport Feliza safely.

Verdent had rushed towards my friend and quickly got to work on bandaging her shoulder. He worked quickly and beautifully, so much so that I would completely believe that he was a master at medical treatment.

While this was happening, Juni and Eurie had gotten rid of the medical paste they were using earlier and took out a bottle filled with a red thin liquid. They began to pour the contents of the bottle onto Feliza's wound slowly and carefully, as if they were cautious of what the liquid could do.

Meanwhile, Alex and Aliba were working on the transportation tool for Feliza, and were threading the vines with the sticks so fast that they might as well be weavers. Before long, the entire contraption was completed, and they lifted up the cot with their hands. Then, they quickly started to move towards Feliza, before setting it down on the ground.

By this time, the bottle was completely empty, and Feliza's shoulder was covered with a layer of bandages doused in some strange red liquid. She seemed to be breathing so softly and weakly that I honestly thought she had died for a second there.

"Alright, we've got to get going now. We need to get to the doctor, and the fastest way is by the forest. Aliba and Juni, keep watch with your bows, and shoot any monsters that try to get near us. Eurie and Alex, I need you two to carry her back, I'll lead us to the doctor and act as a guard if any beasts get too close," Verdent said, giving out orders to my other siblings.

Instead of arguing or trying to bicker, all of them immediately went and got themselves into their roles, ready to try and save Feliza. However, there was something that I felt was missing from his commands.

"What about me and Sally?" I asked. After all, he didn't tell the two of us what to do.

"You two just walk on with us. We'll protect you," he said as he picked up his spear and twirled it. "We'll take care of this."

That's right. With my older brothers taking the lead, they could definitely fix everything. They could make this entire horrible dream end in a joyful ending like all the stories I was told by my mom.

However, I couldn't just stand by and let them do everything. I had to contribute too! I had to help Feliza as well, otherwise I don't have the gall to call her my friend!

"Wait!" I shouted, causing Verdent to stop and turn to me. "I can carry Feliza with Eurie, let Alex help you keep guard!"

"Buan, you're four years old and you're not that strong," he said harshly, "Please, let us do our job."

"I understand that! But I need to help Feliza, and I know I can carry her with Eurie! I've gone on foraging for a long time, I know I can do this!"

The two of us had an incredibly short moment of silence, but our thoughts collided and gave way to our battle. A brawl of mental power initiated, and I felt like I was just barely standing, using all my strength to stand up to Verdent.

Then, he laughed loudly. "Alright, you win. Alex, go get your spear and prepare to help me in case any beasts come by. I think Buan wants to help his little lady."

With his approval, I moved over to where Alex was, and took the handles of the cot away from him. He looked at me for a while, before sighing and getting his spear out.

Despite what I expected, Feliza... wasn't that heavy, almost suspiciously so. I know this, because even though I was straining to keep the cot up to the level that Eurie held it, my arms weren't trembling like mad.

Rather, I was able to hold the cot normally somewhat. My strength may be small, but I was powerful enough to apply my willpower to help carry one of my dear friends.

"Alright, I can do this! Let's go!" I shouted, and I could hear Verdent's short chuckle from my position.

"You heard him boys. Let's get going!" With those words, all of us started to move, with Alex ushering Sally with him to make sure no one got lost.

I carried Feliza with them, using all the power in my body and my willpower to ensure that I didn't lag behind and cause too much problems.

We moved rather quickly, rushing past the trees and the foliage in an attempt to reach the doctor as fast as possible. I watched as Juri and Aliba launched arrows quickly from time to time, with the screams of wounded animals echoing throughout the forest.

My teeth slowly began to start shaking in an attempt to make me have them chatter. I didn't want to show any fear at this moment, so I gritted my teeth to ensure that the shaking would stop.

Before long, we arrived at a decently large clearing, where a beautiful cottage laid on top. There was a man chopping wood with his burly arms, while another one was sitting on a rocking chair, looking up at the sky and reading some kind of book.

"Doctor!" Verdent shouted, and instantly, the two people turned towards us and stiffened.

"What happened, Verdent?" The doctor asked worriedly as they quickly put away their book and stood up immediately, "Is that Feliza? What in the world?"

"There's no time, we need you to heal her shoulder!" He shouted as Alex and I came out and laid her down right in front of the miracle worker.

Before I knew it, the man that had been chopping wood was right next to us, and he was taking off the bandages in a rapid motion. Eurie quickly covered my eyes once more and turned me away so that I didn't have to see fully what had happened to Feliza.

"Dear Goddess..." The man breathed out, "How is she still alive?"

"Alexander, run and get me my tools!" I heard the doctor shout. "If we want to make sure she stays alive, then we need to act now!"

I heard some rustling noises, before being lead away from where I was previously. Then, my vision was returned, and I found myself next to Sally and Alex.

She had calmed down a lot more now, and was currently gripping Alex's pants. She then spotted me, before apparently smiling and sighing in apparent relief.

"Are you alright?" She asked, looking at me with worry in her green eyes. "Carrying her must have been hard."

"That's not a question you should be asking, I should ask you that!" I replied quickly, before grasping her hands with mine. "Are you fine? Are you hurt anywhere? Do you need help of any kind? Please, let me know Sally, now that I know Feliza's fine, I can direct my worries to you now!"

"Buan, I'm fine!" She laughed a bit nervously as she looked me in the eyes. "Just... might have nightmares from now on."

That was understandable. After all, if I had to go through what she just witnessed...

I don't think I would be able to sleep for a week at all.

"This is serious, what happened?" The doctor asked as he worked on Feliza. "I can fix her up easily, but this wound is severe. What hurt her, why, and how come you five didn't save her?"

"A wolf attacked the two kids," Verdent said calmly, except for the fact his tone contained some hostility within, "Sally and her went to use the restroom, and we started to run towards the site when we heard their screams-"

"So you left two children who had no chance of fighting a beast or surviving the forest on their own?" The doctor said, with venom in their voice that was so strong that I could feel myself stiffen up.

"I admit we made a mistake, and we should have had someone stay guard for the two of them." Verdent admitted, looking down in shame. "But normally, wolves don't attack people unless there's some loud noises being made nearby, or if they can smell fear. That shouldn't have been happening at all."

"The point remains that none of you were being responsible." The big man stated as clear as a river, "I'm going to talk to the two girls' families about this. You should have known better. Had you not been there on time to kill the wolf, then the two girls would have been dead!"

"Actually, we didn't kill the wolf, the little lass you're treating did," Juni simply said.

The assistant froze, and turned towards Juni with horror in his eyes. I could see the doctor stiffen for a brief moment, before continuing his work on his patient.

"What." The big man could only say, staring right at my big brother with wide eyes. "What did you just say?"

"He's saying that Feliza killed the wolf!" Sally shouted, and all of us turned towards her. "She stabbed it in the eye with a stick, then pulverized its head with a rock!"

I could see the big man turn completely pale as he turned towards Feliza. The doctor had finally stiffened up completely, and looked up to his assistant with a dark look on their face.

The two of them got closer to each other and began to whisper to each other for some bizarre reason. I didn't understand why they were so scared, after all, there were rumors of Feliza's sister Nellie beating up one of the other guards when she was only four years old.

I'm sure a wolf was way weaker than a guard, so I wasn't too surprised there.

"Still, I'm still really shocked a four year old managed to kill a wolf." Aliba said nervously, while looking at Feliza. "She might just be a bit stronger than Buan-"

"She's not four!" The doctor shouted suddenly. All of us turned towards him with utter confusion in our eyes, not completely understanding the situation.

"She's only two years old!"

The air suddenly froze. Everyone's eyes bulged out and turned to look at him, unable to recognize what had just been said.

I couldn't believe what I just heard. Feliza... was only two years old? But how? How could that make sense?!

"WHATTTT?!" All of us shouted at unison. What was going on?!
