Chapter 07-Clearing the Misunderstanding

"You are too polite, sir Damien. Did I disturb you?" The older man responded.

"Please don't mind us," it was Gavinus, "We are on our way out."

Silvester stared at the man with an ugly mask for a moment, then lightly bent his back, "Then, please be safe."

His son, Erick, was taken aback but still followed his father. The two lightly nodded and walked past them. Then, the head guardian landed his eyes on Lixon and smiled.

"You must be the young man who was offended by my granddaughter yesterday. I came here to apologize on her behalf."

Lixon blinked and noticed Davis and prince Gavinus paused hearing this but continued to step out.

Lixon lightly bowed, "Greetings, Lord Silvester."

The young man felt Damien grabbed his shoulder while maintaining his smile to the head guardian and spoke in a voice that only the two could hear.

"I said that I would not pry in your secrets, but I need to have some details of your adventures, especially to the previous big shot. Got it?"

The young man nodded. He was also astonished by this turn of events.

"What can we do for you, sir?" Damiens asked.

"Ah, I need to talk to this young man in private. I hope that it will not disturb your business."

"He is my new assistant, and one of his jobs is to cater to our clients' needs. So I don't mind." The owner responded right away and pushed Lixon forward.

"Thank you very much."

"Lead them to the Green door room."

"Okay."

The two new clients followed Lixon.

Outside the store, prince Gavinus and Davis stood there quietly for almost five minutes. The latter already placed the potions inside his storage bag when they exited from the store.

Then he heard the prince spoke, "Interesting."

The two of them started to walk like tourists. Davis broke the silence after their ten minutes of walking.

"You were very unusual today, your highness."

"Hmm? Are you asking me why I revealed my identity to him?"

"You should know, there were attempts of assassination to you recently. So you should be careful."

They stopped their conversation when they reached a restaurant. Then Davis requested a private room, one of the servants led them to the second floor. After they ordered their food, prince Gavinus removed his mask and revealed his handsome face.

"Assassination attempts to royal blood is but a trivial and ordinary matter. So don't overthink it."

"But he is suspicious," the captain of the knights insisted.

"Can you stop with your nagging? I'm hungry." Gavinus responded in an annoyed tone.

Then they heard a light knocked on the door. Davis stood from his seat and received the ordered food, then placed it on their table. There was various meat, some fried and some were cooked with soup.

Davis also ordered them cold fruit drinks.

After a while, the two of them started eating then continued with their dialogue.

"He is very peculiar." Gavinus gave his assessment of the young man earlier.

"Aside from his appearance, he is too ordinary for me." Davis also gave his comment.

"You still have a lot to learn aside from fighting. Though, I agree he is almost my rival when it comes to appearance." The prince added jokingly.

"Please enlighten me."

"First, I revealed my identity to get his reaction, but it is not the usual shock and fear. Instead, it's as if he knew from the very beginning that it was me."

"I did not notice it."

"I did." Gavinus casually took some grapes from the plate then continued, "That young man was surprised when he saw you. That I can tell that it was because he met you in the Dead Forest. But when he landed his eyes on me, it was a look of affirmation. Weird, isn't it?"

Davis nodded.

"Second is Damien. I knew that he was very picky in choosing people to be near him. But he allowed that person to be his store assistant. Damien has tons of secrets, and he is also a hidden powerhouse. Even my imperial father doesn't want to offend him."

"Indeed."

"And lastly, the family of Guardian."

"Didn't Lord Silvester mentioned it; he came to apologize on his granddaughter's behalf?"

The prince smirked.

"That's not right," the prince shook his head in disagreement, "Silvester will not personally visit for some trivial matter."

Gavinus took the cold fruit drink and lightly sipped, "I'm not sure, but I felt like that person would be an important chess piece."

"Your highness."

"It's just a hunch, so don't be on his bad side."

"I understand."

---

Damien M. Store.

There was a long silence among the three: Silvester, Erick, and Lixon. The first two were sitting across the young man while observing him.

"You should have other reason to see me. I don't believe that you came here to apologize." Lixon was the one who broke the silence first.

"I can feel the power of medallion on you. So, that means that what you have is the real deal." Silvester responded.

'Oh, so that's it.'

"I came here to confirm something."

"You wanted to confirm if it's Funis who gave me the medallion? To respond to your query, sir, it was him."

Lixon took out the medallion and showed it to the two guardians. Both of their eyes turned round when they saw the exquisitely designed medal. The head guardian reached his hands to touch it, but an invisible barrier pushed him back.

"Father!" Erick reacted.

"I'm fine." Silvester was also shocked.

Then he continued to speak, "You are very knowledgeable of our family, Lixon, was it? You even mentioned Lord Funis' name. So you knew that the head guardian was the only one who knew that identity."

"I did it to save myself." The young man answered bluntly, "If it's not because of your granddaughter, I will never resort to that kind of tactic."

Silvester nodded, "I see. It seemed like Lord Funis trusted you so much."

When Lixon heard this, he blinked his eyes then lightly laughed. The two guardians were puzzled by this reaction.

"Oh, my apologies. I wanted to clarify some misunderstandings here. That fool, I mean Funis, did not give me this medallion out of trust. He casually threw it when I was departing."

"..."

"If I knew that this would cause me a lot of trouble, I would think twice before accepting this."

This time both Silvester and Erick wore flabbergasted faces. But Lixon seemed unaware of this as he continued.

"I also want to add. We were not that closed. I accidentally bumped into Funis inside the forest." Lixon crossed his arms on his chest, "I still have to pay him back in the future. I hope that this would clear up everything."

There was a long silence again after this sentence.

Lixon coughed lightly to break the silence.

"Do you have any more questions?"

"Ah...There is something that's been bugging me." Silvester spoke.

"Go ahead, sir."

"You said that you just met him by accident, and you only knew him for a short time."

Lixon nodded, "That's right."

"But, you spoke like you've known him for ages." The Guardian gave his honest observation.

The young man prevented himself from twitching his mouth, 'Oh shoot! I almost forgot that this person is quick-witted.'

"That...is something that I wanted to keep for myself. There are some secrets that we wanted to keep. I hope that Lord Silvester will excuse me for this."

'Let's leave it at that,' he added internally.

"Of course. Then I will not keep you any longer."

They stood from their seats and bowed towards Lixon, then exited from the room. Then Erick paid five silvers to Damien, who was still leisurely sitting on the couch.

They were about to leave when the head guardian turned and walked toward Lixon. He took something from his pocket and gave it to the young man.

"This is a special-made medallion from me. If you have this, as long as you are in the City of Alvon, no one will dare to cause you trouble. Even my clan is no exception." The Guardian smiled while handing it to him.

"Father, that is—"

Silvester raised his hand to stop his son.

"Take this as a token of my gratitude."

Lixon knew that the head would not leave if he would not accept, so he took it with some hesitation.

"Thank you very much."

The Guardian smiled and left the store with his son. When he was left alone, Lixon felt an intense gaze drilling his back. He turned his head and found Damien with a stern face.

He lightly sighed.

"You can ask me anything, but I will decide if I will answer it or not."

The store owner smiled, "Cool."
