《The Immortalai》Accepting Failure And Lightning Scales

A few days after Scyera and Lierans successful siege against Toranerk Gheranto and Itimkrata stand on the same mountain side Scyera and Lieran started it from. They are looking at the city and the land around it as the city gets repaired still. They sit down looking over the land.
"Our old home, its weird to look upon it again, war torn and not in keireens hands" Gheranto says
"Indeed though I doubt i could go in there even now, the memories and failures we have there" Itimkrata says
"I know, if anyone in there is old enough to have been there when we were and lets face it its more than likely there are such people. I would not be able to look them in the eyes, we failed in protecting them our failure forced them to serve Keireen possibly get tortured if they even made him slightly annoyed or he had it done for no reason" Gheranto says
"Sadly torture may not have been the worst of it given what Reinlas and Linra told us of the experimentations on souls" Itimkrata says
Gheranto sighs.
"Indeed" Gheranto says as he looks across the land hoping for something to change the subject
Itimkrata also looks around but she quickly sees a few squads of Keireen soldiers advancing on a village.
"Shit! over there!" Itimkrata shouts
Gheranto looks over and sees it, they both quickly teleport over and begin attacking the squads. The villagers look on in awe and the guards stop fighting because of their own shock. Gheranto and itimkrata finish off the squads within minutes, most are unconcious while some are dead. The villagers and guards quickly move over to Gheranto and Itimkrata surrounding them.
"Oh no, here comes the hate" Gheranto and Itimkrata telepathically say to eachother
The villagers and guards bow to them much to the confusion of Gheranto and Itimkrata.
"Why are you all bowing? We are not your king and queen anymore" Gheranto says
"But you were once and you did a lot of good by us" One villager says

"We failed you, all of you in our own war against Keireen" Gheranto says
"While the war was lost and many people did resent your for that over time people came to terms with it knowing there was no way to win but the hope you were out there kept the oldest of us full of hope as well as the children. You became motivators for hope of Keireen losing to you two one day or against the harraeles and Geirlanth. There were people that died of injuries whos last words were hope of your return" A guard says
"Thats hard to believe given well the amount of time thats passed" Gheranto says
"It may but its the truth" One villager says
"Why have so much faith in us?" Itimkrata asks
"You are both first generation and you ensured that as many people as possible survived. We all lost the war but we had the least amount of deaths from it, injuries about the same but the many that lived? Praise your names and wisdom" The oldest of the villagers says
Gheranto and Itimkrata are surprised by all of this and look towards Toranerk.
"We have some others to help, it will still be hard to look at many of them but we should help" Gheranto and Itimkrata says
The villagers and guards nod and wave them off as they fly away towards Toranerk. Over in Reinholm castle Linra checks on Jorankra whos currently flying around over the wolf pack. Linra looks up at her.
"Jorankra! Come here for minute!" Linra shouts
Jorankra quickly flies down and lands on Linra shoulder and Linra pets her.
"Hello" Jorankra says happily
"How are you?" Linra asks as she teleports some food to her hand for Jorankra
"I am well" jorankra says as she starts to eat
"Thats good to hear, how goes your fire breathing training?" Linra asks
"I'm doing great! Its also fun" Jorankra says happily
"She still acts very young and is still tiny, wonder when she'll have mastered fire enough to grow" Linra thinks to herself

"Can I show you!?" Jorankra asks making lirna smile
"Sure" Linra says as she walks to the training area set up for Jorankra
Jorankra flies down to the ground in line with the targets made of metal that arent able to be melted by her current fire. Jorankra builds up fire in her throat and after a few second she unleashes the fire breath on the targets as a continuous stream of fire.
"Very well done Jorankra, its clear you've improved a bit since last time" Linra says proudly
Jorankras fire breathe stream gets bigger and hotter while Jorankra seems a little confused it impresses linra.
"Never mind you have improved a lot.... so much so that you seem to be melting the targets now" Linra says quickly putting up a barrier behind the targets so that Jorankra doesnt start to burn the forest
Linra looks at Jorankra and goes to pet her but her hand gets burnt touching her scales.
"OW!. Thats new, didnt happen before" Linra says but then she realises Jorankra seems to be a little distressed
"Jorankra whats wrong?" Lirna asks worried
Jorankra doesnt stop breathing fire and tries to indicate that.
"You cant stop breathing fire?" Linra asks
Jorankra nods causing the fire breathe to miss the target and hit the barrier. Linra teleports Syremai there.
"Jorankra cant stop breathing fire, any idea why?" Lirna asks
"Nope, this ones new to me" Syremai says as he walks over to Jorankra and puts his hand infront of the fire not getting hurt due to his own dragon like body
"This is some real dragon fire, not baby stuff anymore" Syremai says
"What? Shes still tiny though and well very child like so i cant see why it would suddenly b-" Lirna gets cut off as lightning begins to strike down around Jorankra completely hiding her from sight as the lightning strikes.
Syremai quickly dodges out of the way sharpening his wings and hardening his scales instinctually. Lirna looks slightly worried and unsheathes her blade.
"Jorankra!? Are you alright!?" Linra shouts
Reinlas teleports next to Linra after seeing the lightning from a window.
"What the fucks happening?" Reinlas asks confused
"Jorankra has been surrounded be lightning" Linra says
Reinlas looks over at the column of lightning and is about to use lightning magic to stop it when the column expands and then stops revealing Jorankra now the size of a house with her white scales are no longer greyed out. Jorankra moves her looks at herself as best she can confused.
"It seems she grew, about the average size of a dragon now" Reinlas says
"Indeed" Linra says looking at Jorankra as she sheathes her blade
"Hell of a growth spurt kid, scared the shit out of us" Syremai says as his wings dull and his scales soften
"I'm big now, this is going to take getting used to" Jorankra says
"Try attacking the targets, if the lightning show was to make us assume anythign ill take a guess and say you can use lightning now" Reinlas says
"Okay!" Jorankra says enthusiastically
Jorankra looks at soem of the targets that hadnt melted and she breathes fire at one of them fire and it melts quickly then she looks at another target and she feels the electricity goign through her body and gathering in her throat as she breathes lightning towards the target, some of the bolts miss and strike the ground but no one is surprised.
"Very well done" Reinlas and linra say smiling
"Yeah well done kid, have fun with that" Syremai says as he disappears
Reinlas and Linra go over to Jorankra once she stops breathing lightning and they pet her as they wonder just hwo big she'll get looking at the remaining greyed out scales...

Fall of a Civilization - Modern Apocalypse
Today was an ordinary day. The same day as every day. The start of a monotonous day for some while being an exciting one for others. Today was supposed to be the latter for me. My first day in an abroad country, coming here for my studies. But everything changed when the world started spewing monstrosities, abhorrent creatures, and powers. This is the story following Rudy, who gets trapped in a foreign country when the world decided to metaphorically flip its table. If the [horror] tag didn't already tell you, this story tries to give more focus to the monsters than other Litrpg's and also intends to have a much more serious tone. My writing may be sub-par as I am a starting writer, but I promise to strive and improve as I keep writing along with your feedback and response. Updates will be at every 3 days.
