《The Legend of The Grandmaster》Chapter 14

Yu Xiaogang sat in a meditative posture on the bed and thought of absorbing the next spirit ring. He had absorbed the last spirit ring six months ago and had solidified his rank over the past half-year by constantly circulating his spirit power in the meridians.
Yu Xiaogang used a wisp of his spiritual power and inspired the black pearl and entered the small space inside the pearl. He saw the familiar environment and sat beneath the divine core.
Yu Xiaogang ran the Devouring Codex and began absorbing the energy from the core strand by strand. He swallowed double the amount as compared to the last time. The spirit energy vortex within his body began to solidify and slowly transformed into a spirit energy core as he broke through to the next stage of the first chapter in Devouring Codex. Similarly, two additional cores, one consolidating his spiritual/mental energy and the other improving his physique " Innate Devouring Body. "
Yu Xiaogang was shocked because a spirit energy core only forms after breaking through the Title Douluo level, and forming the other two cores was more difficult even for a Title Douluo. Yu Xiaogang was surprised by the extent to which his strength had improved after entering the fourth stage of the first volume of Devouring Codex. Now he can rival a spirit-emperor even before absorbing the third ring.
Yu Xiaogang calmed down after a few minutes and began extracting the energy from the divine core to create his third spirit ring. A white-colored ring formed above his head and rapidly changed its color as Yu Xiaogang drew more energy from the core. Soon it became a black spirit ring. He continued to supply more energy until it became 40,000 years old black spirit ring.
Yu Xiaogang summoned his first martial spirit, and an illusionary black dragon appeared behind him; the big black spirit ring above his head began to shrink and solidify as it descended on him. He successfully absorbed the spirit ring within a few minutes. Yu Xiaogang's spirit power began to rise as he absorbed the spirit ring and raised his rank more than ten levels and finally became a rank 39 peak Spirit-Elder.

Yu Xiaogang felt his mind became more clear, and the body felt more comfortable. He finally broke-through the Spirit-Elder after being stuck at Spirit-Grandmaster for two decades.
After absorbing the third spirit ring, Yu Xiaogang learned the name of his third spirit skill, " True Speed. " Although Yu Xiaogang felt the name of the skill was not domineering, the effects were opposite.
He felt that this was an essential skill, and after using it, the wings behind his back would increase from half a meter to four meters in length, and Yu Xiaogang's speed would increase four times. He felt that with his current strength and this heavenly spirit skill, even a Titled Douluo could not catch him if Yu Xiaogang wanted to escape.
Yu Xiaogang did not leave immediately after incorporating the third spirit ring; he again started absorbing wisps of energy from the divine core to increase the age of his spirit bones. As he swallowed the energy from the core, the age of spirit bones increased from 100 years to 1000 years, but it did not improve his strength significantly.
He exited out of the space from the black pearl and returned to his room, sat cross-legged on the bed, and began cultivating his spirit power for the rest of the night. Yu Xiaogang's expression was weird at first, then pleased because he discovered that his spirit power circulated automatically.
Yes, after entering the fourth stage, his spirit power started circulating itself and also swallowing the energy from his immediate environment. Yu Xiaogang stopped meditating after discovering it and laid down to sleep for the rest of the night.
The next morning Yu Xiaogang woke up late and saw little Yan, already sitting on the chair in front of his bed. He stood up from the bed, patted her head, and told her that he would make the meal for her soon.
Soon Yu Xiaogang came out of the bathroom after freshening up and walked towards the kitchen. He cooked spirit beast meat for himself and his daughter. They ate happily, and Yu Xiaogang walked out of the house and laid down under the shade of a tree and relaxed.

After a while, Yu Yan ran out of the house and walked towards him. She asked, " Father, can we go to the village market for shopping. " Yu Xiaogang woke up after hearing her and replied, " Yes, let's go after a while. " Ordinarily, he wouldn't have agreed, but today he was in a good mood and readily agreed. Little Yan was happy after seeing him agree and sat down near him.
After a while, Yu Xiaogang stood up and gestured little Yan to follow him, and they went to the village market. Yu Yan looked around curiously and purchased a lot of small things. It took her a few hours to buy all the stuff, and both of them returned to their house.
After such a relaxed day, Yu Xiaogang and Yu Yan returned to their room to rest early because tomorrow, a spirit-master from the Spirit Hall would come to the village for the awakening ceremony.
Yu Xiaogang and Yu Yan both woke up early the next day, according to their daily routine; he cooked breakfast for both of them. Yu Yan ate faster than her usual pace, which showed both her excitement of awakening her martial spirit and nervousness at the same time because she was scared if her martial spirit is not strong, then she might disappoint her father.
Yu Xiaogang felt the unusualness of the little girl. He smiled and said, " Don't worry, Little Yan. " He patted on her head to comfort her. Yu Yan felt a bit relieved after hearing her father's words. After eating, Yu Xiaogang glanced at the clock and said, " Let's go. "
Yu Xiaogang and Yu Yan stepped out of the house and walked towards the Spirit Hall branch in the village; although he had lived for more than six months in the village, he never even walked in front of the spirit hall branch.
As they walked, Yu Xiaogang noticed that the village seemed quieter than usual. Soon they reached the Spirit Hall branch and found Old Jack standing outside with four other children behind him.
Old Jack saw both of them and said, " Ah! Xiaogang, it is good that you arrived. The Spirit Hall subordinate may arrive at any time. "
The children standing behind Old Jack came forward and bowed and greeted, " Teacher! x4. " Yu Xiaogang nodded and gestured little Yan to go and stand with other children.
Yu Xiaogang glanced around as they waited for the Spirit Hall's person to arrive. Yu Xiaogang saw a large wooden shelter with an old plaque on the top of the shelter with " Spirit Hall " written on it.
Li Mei, one of the children whom Yu Xiaogang had taught before, walked out of the crowd and asked him, " Teacher, you never told us anything about the Spirit Hall? " Yu Xiaogang was slightly taken aback by her question.
Yu Xiaogang recollected his thoughts, and facing his curious student; he naturally agreed and started speaking:
" Spirit Hall is a significant influence on the Douluo continent comparable that to the two Empires and is lead by the Supreme Pontiff, and only a Titled Douluo is eligible for this position. "
Everyone, including Old jack, listened to him. Yu Xiaogang pointed at the wooden shelter in front of them and said, " It has branches all over the continent. " He smiled and did not tell them any more about it. The little brats started daydreaming after listening to him. Yu Xiaogang and Old Jack smiled and did not interrupt their fantasies.
