《The Human Conduit》Kopbok

"Singed Leaf Clan" Roy McGrath said taking a close look at the chest medallion in his hands. He looked down at the shackled lizard who was sitting before him in the small, white interrogation room. "Were you banished from the Empire of the Reptilia?"
"No sir, we left them behind" Kopbok retorted.
"Well then, I'm sure you wouldn't want Turraski to know you and your clan are aiding the HDD and the former princess."
"You're threatening me?" Kopbok asked.
"All I want to know is where Agent Greene and Agent Rall are and who that woman was they were with. I'm not interested in your role in elven politics. Just tell me where I can find them and we'll forget that you entered the Earth sector illegally."
"We escaped the Church of Saint Vernon's Cathedral on Katharna and I helped them flee. When they hid I went back and was captured."
"I don't believe you" he said firmly. "I'm not messing around, here. Your clan might be quite isolated if the new princess and the black serpent leaders find out you've been helping Zorthia."
"Even Kayla's brother apparently doesn't know where she is, and you expect I do?"
"Let me warn you, Kopbar-"
"Kopbok" he interrupted.
"Kop…bok" he said in a mocking tone, "I don't want to take the gloves off and fight dirty but I'll-" just then the door from behind them opened and a gray with a bionic arm entered. McGrath reached down to his hip to grab his gun, but Baycorf pointed his bionic arm at him and squirted light-blue, pasty material which solidified into a rubbery material when it hit his body. The material completely held his arms against his body. He tried to break himself free, but even his considerable strength he couldn't do it. Baycorf squirted more of the substance to bind his legs. McGrath gave a violent jerk to try and separate his legs but just fell to the ground.

Azari Yuler entered behind Baycorf and cut the chains on the shackles.
"Come, Kopbok" Baycorf said. "We're going for a little ride." Azari popped his head out the door and looked both ways.
"It's clear" Azari said. They all three quickly filed out of the tiny room leaving McGrath still struggling to try and free either a limb or his lips. They quickly boarded the elevator down the hall of the installation and went up three levels. When the door opened there was a young security guard waiting for them. Baycorf quickly bounded him up in a similar way that he did McGrath.
"Move quickly" Baycorf said. When they turned the next corner they encountered two more guards. Baycorf quickly slimed the one that was closer to them, but the other was a bit far away and out of range. He took his gun and pointed it at them."
"Don't move!" the guy shouted. In one quick motion Azari Yuler picked up his own polyphoton gun and fired it at him, the beam hitting and completely mangling his gun and hitting him in the chest. The man grabbed his chest and fell down onto his knees. Baycorf walked over to him and slimed his body.
"That should stop any bleeding and disinfect your wound. Don't worry, the polymer will denature in a few minutes." he told him as if helping out an ally. The three ran past those men and finally reached the doors to the spacecraft airlocks. They entered one about a third of the way down the hallway. Inside was a small airlock with only the Swordfish in it. As they got inside the craft, an alarm went off.
"Hold on, they've shut the door to the airlock" Baycorf said strapping himself in.
"Hold on?" Kopbok asked. Several rounds of polyphoton beams were fired from the spacecraft, completely destroying the door and the air pressure flinging it outward into the vacuum. The craft was completely catapulted out of the airlock right behind it with a big jolt. Kopbok had to grab onto overhead handle bars to keep from being thrown. The craft sped close to the silvery ground of Ariguar's second moon and then when out of range of the artillery made a steep assent away from the surface.

"You must be Baycorf" Kopbok said.
"Indeed" Baycorf answered.
"So what do I owe this little joy ride?" Kopbok asked.
"Do you know where to find the ancient City of Gaia on the planet Droyla?" Baycorf asked.
"Sure" Kopbok said. "But why would you want to go there?"
"We've just learned from Tal Roggle that Avistra is activating the Talisman of the Goddess."
"That's…not good" the lizard said in a lugubrious manner. "But why would you want to go there?"
"Azari, find us the lane the least likely to result in us being detected" he said ignoring what Kopbok asked. "I'll get us there quickly."
