《Breaking the constellations》Chapter 12 - Operation

The bird didn’t chirp. It only stayed perched on his shoulder while making it his home. Gael shook his head and looked at the intelligent eyes of the little bird and said.
“Hmmm… You are an interesting fellow…. Let’s name you Flamy.” A rare smile blossomed on his fame, while Flamy bobbed its head sideways, almost as if it was wondering what was going on Gael’s mind.
Gael shook his head and said. “Let’s leave this place, We’ve got many things to do.” He disappeared in the forest after saying this.
The next days were uneventful. He just went through the camps while defeating the leaders, convincing them of joining his camp. His methods were surely not the best, but time was running against him, and he had to rely on the method that would provide the most benefits.
He was finally arriving at the last camps. But instead of having a relieved expression, his face hardened and his eyes looked like blades. The person that he must kill in the tutorial wa finalling coming closer, the golden lion.
Ron, also known as the golden lion, was a person that had an amazing special ability. He could absorb other people’s vitality by making a contract with them. The contract was a master and servant one, where if Ron was hurt, he would absorb the vitality of someone that had a contract with him.
Using this ability, Ron became almost immortal. He had legions of people around him, which would fill him with vitality whenever he needed.
He used this ability to the fullest, going to the most dangerous places, and fighting the strongest monsters, making himself stronger and stronger as time passed. He was one of the people that stood on the peak of humanity in his memories.
Ron had the power, but he didn’t help those in need, even though his power was achieved by sacrificing countless lives.
He was one of the rares latecomers of the new earth that had such a potential and powerful special ability. Gael didn’t even bother to ask other people about their special abilities or even cared about them. Most of them would only show their true potential after a long time of either training or growth.
Some special abilities could be trained, like the special ability ‘Puppet master’, who allowed Vito, also known as the puppeteer, to reign his own kingdom. Vito only began by controlling small animals or his own creations, but later on, he could control almost all life forms, and even turn them into his puppets.

Growth special abilities were those that couldn’t be trained and offered a passive buff, or special condition that could be achieved after training other skills or even after training their own bodies to the peak. A great example of a growth type special ability was Gael’s own ‘Wind rose’. It could offer a great buff to his skills after getting them to high masteries. It was not a training ability because he was not training the ability itself, but the skills.
However, some monsters had special abilities that didn’t fit these two criterias, and could immediately show great power by using them. These abilities were known as singulars, as they were unique in their own way.
Ron's special ability was called ‘Ruler’s link’, and perfectly fitted the criteria of a singular ability.
Gael knew that even now, in the beginning of their round of the tutorial, Ron would already have many people on a master servant contract with him. Killing him was not a hard decision to make, what was really difficult was bearing the death of the countless people that would die together with him, even if he didn’t attack them.
Gael looked ahead and saw the smoke coming from the campfire in the distance. He steeled his heart and prepared for what was to come.
Ron looked around and saw the people working on his camp. He was prideful of what he had achieved. He was a handsome man. His golden hair and blue eyes greatly combined with his well proportioned body and handsome face.
He always had his way in life, and even in this hellhole that wasn’t different.
The first day he arrived, he saw the little monster that called itself ‘Monoceros’ flying around and giving them orders, as if it was its right to command others. Ron couldn’t accept this! He was the one supposed to rule above the others.
Ron truly believed that there were some people born to rule, and others born to serve. He didn’t believe all that bullshit that everyone was equal and had the same rights, that was the most ridiculous lie that he had ever heard in his whole life.
He was mad before coming to this place because some people were fighting for equality, but all that shit ended when he arrived in the place Monoceros called the tutorial.
He had finally received a gift that proved he was truly born to rule others!

After arriving at this place, he was lost for some time until finding how to use his ability. When someone submitted to him willingly, a link would form between them, and his ability could be used to its full potential.
Of course, willingness was something that one could achieve by doing a lot of things, and even if the person accepted the link because of fear or coercion, it would still work.
He used his ability to get stronger by killing monsters that invaded the camp and by exploring the forest in search for prey.
He felt immortal! He couldn’t be killed until all the people around him were dead, and he was strong as hell!
Some other camps tried to fight against him, but he easily killed their leaders and subjugated their people. And just like that, his power grew. Having more people under him was like having another lifeline.
He smiled while looking at what he achieved.
Gael activated the concealment technique and quietly approached the camp. He could obviously deduce that people were hard at work right now, the sound of things being built was obvious, and if it wasn’t by the protection offered by the camp, he was sure that many creatures would be invading the place.
He jumped from tree to tree until he could get a clear look at the camp. “Ron surely is a fucker, but at least he isn’t dumb.” Gael said in a low voice.
The base already had a sturdy wall built around it, and there were many fortifications currently being built inside the fortress. From the outlook of the base, and how the materials looked, it was obvious that Ron had someone buy the skill earthwall, and another person buy the skill restricting vine.
The skill earthwall was used to build the wall, and the vines were used as ropes to build the new structures.
He looked around and saw no opening around the base. There were people watching every corner, even during the day.
The importance of being hidden was great to Gael. He didn’t want a massacre to happen, and because of that, he had to capture Ron and take him away from the camp. It was a known fact that Ron’s ability had a great weakness, if he got too far from the people under him, his ability wouldn’t work. So Gael planned to capture the man and take him away from the place.
He sat on the tree, and began to observe the movements of the camp. He would have to be patient in order to make everything work his way.
Gael observed the camp for two whole days. Nothing interesting happened during that time. The invasions were easily repelled by the people of the camp. The wall truly provided a big advantage to them. However, the reason why the invasion was so easily repelled was Ron.
Although Ron was a fucker, Gael had to recognize the man had real ability. He used a mix of fire skills and an enchanted greatsword to bulldoze amidst the enemies. He didn’t even wear armor while fighting, clearly not caring for the people that died because of him.
The cruelty in Ron’s ability was that he didn’t instantly kill a person by absorbing their vitality to heal himself, instead, he damaged their potential to survive, leading them to a vicious circle.
Some people were really grateful for having Ron’s protection, but others not much. If you were in a contract with him, you’d lose a great deal of vitality depending on how much he fought, and losing your vitality meant getting weaker, and weak people could only rely on others.
Even if some people occasionally wanted to leave Ron’s grasp, they couldn’t do so because they couldn’t simply survive outside of his protection. And once you had a contract with him, there was no way to get rid of it.
When Ron got really powerful in the future, he would fight in the frontline of wars, leading to many of his subjects dying because of having their vitality sucked dry by him.
The reputation of the golden lion was built upon a mountain of corpses, without even considering the lives he had taken because of his mood.
Gael considered everything he saw, and decided the best time to strike would be at night, just when Ron went to have some fun with girls on his tent.
