" I have a lot of skills around killing people ... I'm glad my work didn't go to waste. Even a Butcher skill for when I skinned the body's and took their organs to cook with ... I wonder if I can still eat without a stomach. "
He then closed his Status Page and walked down the stone paved corridor until he came to a wide room with five other skeletons in it.
" In the novels I read you can get stronger by killing monsters and getting experience points from them to level up. But without a dagger how am I supposed to kill them ... lets test the waters first. ", he then grabbed a stone from the floor and threw it at the head of the closest skeleton, after being hit on the top of the head the skeleton look up for a second before rushing to where the stone was thrown from.
" It shore feels good to be getting back to work after all this time ... ", as he said that he too rush forward, keeping close to the ground as he went.

The skeleton swung with his left arm at him when he got just close enough to hit, but when the arm got close he ducked his head under the arm and then he reached into the skeletons rib cage, grabbing the skeletons spine and dragged it along with him as he stepped past the skeleton, snapping the skeleton in half.
As the top half of the skeleton tried to grab him he raised his right foot, stamped it hard down on to the skeletons skull, breaking the skull into shards.
" Ding ... Level up."
" So it does work.", he then grabbed the skeletons leg bone and broke it free from the rest of the skeletons body.
" Lets take care of the rest then ... ", he then walked to the closest skeleton and swung the leg bone at it's skull, braking it into pieces, " No level up this time ... guess I have to kill some more. ", he ran towards the last three skeletons.
The first one was already moving towards him as he swung the leg bone down on tops of its head, the other two were quickly killed, both of their skulls were broken into pieces.
" Ding ... You have obtained the skill, Hitting. "
" Ding ... You have obtained the skill, Sprint. "
" Two skills ... not bad, but no level. ", he then checked on his Status Page to see the change after the level up.

" Look's like my HP goes up 10 points each level up, it seems that my basic stats have gone up 3 points each with the level up, but my Attack and Agility went up 5 points each ... probable because of the two new skills. "
He then continued along the stone corridor until he heard sound of people talking in front of him, using his Stealth skill he climbed up the wall and hid in a dark corner of the corridor, completely concealed from outsides gaze, he then waited there for who ever was coming down the corridor.
Ready to kill who ever came down that corridor.
" Lets hurry up, my wife's waiting for me at home with a warm meal ... clearing this dungeon shouldn't take this long, there's only Skeletons after all. "
" Shut up, you don't think I'm tired as well ... were nearly at the end. "
As the two men walked along under him, he dropped down on to the one who looked stronger, if he got rid of the biggest threat first he would be able to take care of the other a lot easier.
Before he could even react to what was dropped down on to his head, he was already dead with blood splattering on to the surroundings, the other man was especially covered in a lot of blood as he was standing right next to him when his head exploded.
" Huh ... ", the man was taken by the shock of his partners sudden death, the blood on his face only helped to heighten his shock as he could feel the still warm blood dripping down the contours of his panicked face.
" Ding ... Level up. "
" Oh I levelled up, what a surprise, I'd thought it take longer. "
" You, you can talk ... but your just a Skeleton. How, how did you ? It doesn't make sense ! ", screamed the blood covered man.
" I can talk ... I'm not that different from you after all, well a little different but I can easily change that ... ", he then picked up the dead man's sword that was dropped when he died.
" Change ? How can you cha ... ", the man's speech cut off when he saw the Skeleton pick up his partners sword.
" I can change by taking your skin and wearing it as camouflage. Simple as that. ", he then swung the sword across the man's throat, taking his life for good.
Using the sword to then completely cut off the man's head, he then used the edge of the sword to skin off the face from the skull, with the level his Butcher skill was at, it wasn't difficult to do, even with a long sword.
" This will be a good mask ... shame I had to destroy the other one ... ", he said as his empty eye sockets gazed at the smashed up head next to him.
" Lets try this on to see if it will fit me ... ", he then pulled the skinned mans face over his skull, when it was on he then had to move it around a bit to get it comfortable on his skull.
" Just right ... "
" Ding ... "

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?

An eccentric mogul, bent on expanding his legacy—funds and launches the first privately funded probe to Jupiter. The robotic submarine can reach the ocean floor and returning by an expertly trained AI. Tensions flare between the United States and China, while cyberattack threatens the project. Meanwhile, Dalton, a self-sabotaging synthetic data engineer, longs to make a name for himself in the scientific community, even at the cost of being infamous. Unknown to Earth, alien society has penetrated up the kilometers of ice, and has long researched ‘Nullworld,’ the mysterious ‘ether’ beyond the ice from which no sonar returns. Tensions in their global society have escalated as their city-state fights with a neighbor whose hydrothermal vent has run cold. Now the military caste is in control, halted all research, and pressed capable scientists and engineers into militia service. The alien scientist must escape and bring back research he hopes will diffuse tensions: the revelation of another water world. This is the second hard sci-fi novel by author Eric Kay (No Lack of Sunshine). It explores issues of data integrity in the age of adversarial information warfare, moving minds away from the brink of war, and experience versus knowledge by proxy.

The Ratter
By gnawing through a dike, even a rat may drown a nation.-Edmund Burke There are three kinds of monsters that every rookie adventurer can be expected to face. The first is the goblin, the small green humanoids that often cause problems out on the frontier. And then, there's the giant rat, the plague of the sewer and the tavern cellar. But they're nothing but a petty annoyance, right? Right? Wrong. Giant rats multiply like wildfire and mature very quickly. Unlike rats, they can very quickly exceed their available food supply and start hunting for human flesh the moment that nothing else is available. A hungry swarm, unchecked, can eat a city alive. But not if The Ratter has anything to say about it.
