*Beep*
As I was getting ready to head out and place an order for gene supplements, my phone beeped with a message.
'''Why?''' - Rem
'''?''' - You
I replied before picking up my jacket and looked around at my room. The rooms at the dorm were bare, there was a time where I had some decorations hanging around but those were trashed a long time ago. Looking back I was once a prideful aristocrat, sure of where my path led and sure that I'll be the best.
'I have changed a lot I guess'
*Beep*
'''Why did you sell it... It would have been perfect? Why??'''- Rem
'''Stop stalking... it doesn't suit you''' - You
I smiled slightly and walked up to the gate and slightly bumped my knuckles against the door, as it slipped open I walked out heading to the teleporter.
'What could be my ability be though, is it something to do with my brain? Cuz that's the only thing that the mapper doesn't check and I guess me being able to 'SEE' also could be explained...'
Humans have evolved from ancient times when once running a 100 m sprint under 9.8 seconds was a feat of legends, it has now been reduced to a common accomplishment that any kid above the age of 14 could achieve. As our genes were modified, evolved, Improved?
'We grew different from humans, our DNA changed, our maximum age increased, superpowers surfaced out, We grew from a planetary species to the ruler of the Galaxy... Or so we have been told, through books and pieces of transcripts left behind. One thing didn't change though, we still identified ourselves as humans, clinging to that word, the meaning behind that single word, to console ourselves that this was the right path, that we are not creating monsters... cause that's how the other alien species knew us as...'

Another message broke my chain of thought as I looked at my wrist.
'''Just tell me Why? Why do you turn me down? You know the Grey family can handle your resource expenses right? Why don't you accept my offer but for some credits you sold your best chance to make a comeback? Why?? why do you hate me.''' - Rem
I stared at the message for a while,
"Hey, man could you make way?" I nodded at the voice, glanced at him for a second before disregarding him as unimportant, moved a little freeing the way for the teleporter.
Different emotions conflicted within me before I looked at the message again, I could easily picture her, her eyes moist, bitter emotions etched across her face, as she stared at her wrist waiting for a reply.
'I don't know, I don't know...'
I know what I should do, I guess the distance between us has been everpresent, there was a time when I towered over her and now she does, but...
'''See you at the Top''' -You
I walked into the teleporter and selected the location from my I.V. before I vanished from the Dormitory.

Rem's Pov-
'''See you at the Top''' -Adam
'huh!'
I stared at my wrist stunned, It felt like someone slapped me awake as I stared at those 5 words, My eyes scanned the room before came to stop resting on the projection at my desk, a kid that looked to be around 15 was standing in a relaxed stance with a sharp dagger with a curved elongated edge held lightly between his fingers, his purple eyes staring at you as he gazed at you with an aloof expression. The words 'See you at the Top' etched onto the projector's base along with a name.

'See you at the Top' - Adam Blake.
'What does he mean? did he get another good class? what's he planning? Is he coming back?'
I stared at the projection hoping it would give me some answers, I shook my head and once again stared at the message, It has been a while since I have heard him say those words, through the past year I had watched him, slowly it was taking him some effort to beat everyone, the image of the King coming undone, I watched him disappear into the crowd, just another talented student at the academy.
The last time he said those words were when he was towering over the Champion of Earth's Military Alliance Academy, and when I asked him what he always meant with that, he said, "...We are still playing games right now, these harmless weapons with dulled edges are just entertainment and hope to the rest of the humans that their future is secure, I say 'See you at the Top' to the people I acknowledge, people I wish would stand by me when I lead the crusade to conquer the Universe, cause I know I'll get there, to the Top, the question is can they?"
'Maybe it was that arrogance, that pride, that self-belief that made him stood out among the rest, the untouchable monster, the Blade Saint, The King...'
Humanity lost a hero that one fateful day, his figurines were quickly replaced, those arrogant words were buried along with his story and his legacy, he was the best and everyone acknowledged that, in his age group no one could beat him, but without an Innate ability, the distance would continue growing...
I clicked a name on my contact list and said, "Follow him, I need a detailed explanation of where he's going and what he does."
*Sigh*
I took a deep breath and looked around at my room, the plain white room had simple decorations, a bed, and a terminal. I stared at my Helmet, picked it up, and slipped it on.
'I'll See you at the Top then...'

Sweet Minds
"No one can see it, some can feel it, and only the few can use it. We belong to the few." Marith Merryfield felt anything but merry that morning. She found herself waiting for a delayed train on a deserted platform, in the freezing cold of the Dutch autumn. Just when the strangeness is making her consider turning around and going back home an empty train rolls into the station. For reasons unclear to this day she decides to get onboard. An unlikely, and quite impossible, train accident is about to hurtle her into a world she had always suspected existed. It was a dark and absurd place she had rejected and suppressed when she was young. Now she would need that dormant part of herself to survive. After a brief hospitalization she must choose between two continents and finds herself reluctantly boarding a plane to Oregon to be reunited with her shadows. She returns to the town she grew up in, which is where her father still lives and her childhood memories linger. By the end of the week the mysterious train accident turns out to be the least of her problems. Her life was never supposed to become this serious this fast. Through an improbable and unfortunate series of events she is soon introduced to a motley crew of characters that appear to be carrying the same struggles through life. They possess a familiar sense of inadequacy and insecurity. Marith realizes that for the first time in her life she has found herself a tribe, or, as they prefer to call it, a Chain. She is introduced to a world of Prophets, Runners and Mages led by an Oracle and a Watchmaker. Over the course of several weeks Marith learns that, together with her Chain, she is expected to save this fabric of reality, by fighting a mysterious and immortal creature and his aggressive pet. In order to have a chance at overcoming this force of nature she has to revisit the darkest and most desolate corners of her mind. ***** The total word count of the first 12 chapters amounts to about 85.000 words. The total word count of the first 30 chapters will amount to about 225.000 words. My chapters range, roughly, from 5.000 to 10.000 words. I post with irregular intervals, on random days and at different times. I hope you will enjoy the story! English is not my first language and I am very much open to constructive criticism. Disclaimer: I regularly use impressionistic or abstract language on purpuse, when I think it might benefit the story.

To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
