《Heart Of A Servant》Chapter 36 : Fallout and loss

The wish granting white bird brought me to a dark place.
I looked around and realized that we were in the void in space. I recognized the solar system but our planet had long disappeared.
In the distance, I saw Kyle and his parents floating in the void. All three were exuding a black smoke. It seemed he had somehow turned his parents into God with the Darkness attribute. All three had a crazed look on their faces indicating that they had lost all sense of humanity.
Kelly’s head had been decapitated and was held by the hair by Kyle.
Kyle threw Kelly’s head towards a figure in the distance, “Here. Take your precious apprentice back.”
I then saw myself in a dilapidated state. I was riddled with wounds and was coughing up all the blood I had in my body. Black smoke came out of my wounds and I seemed to not be able to regenerate no matter what spell I used.
“Kyle, I didn’t want to kill you, but you’ve pushed me too far. You didn’t have to kill Kelly.” My other self said weakly.
“You’re already dying. When are going to understand that you were never a threat to me? Rather, you deserve your fate for trying to hide the suffering and alter my fate.” Kyle said.
A staff materialized before my other self. He then weakly grasped it and then chanted a spell.
[Time Reversal]
Kyle knitted his brows, “I’m curious to know what spell you can still use against me.”
As if time was reversed, my other self’s body then regenerated and returned to its peak discarding the black element plaguing him.
Kyle showed an annoyed look, “That spell is not pleasing to the eye. This means that I must kill you in one move and not allow you to chant any spell or else this little fight will never end.”

My other self then ridiculed him, “Are you finally afraid? You know I only need but a thought to cast a spell that easy. At this point we’re both really immortal but I have the edge.”
He then started chanting spells one after another:
[Soul Body]
His body became transparent.
[Soul Ward]
A translucent film appeared around his soul body and acted as protection.
[Soul Warrior]
An armor appeared on him.
The next thing I saw was his body becoming a prismatic light and in the next millisecond entered Kyle’s head.
Both parents had tried to cut the prismatic light with their black swords but they had been too slow.
Kyle had looked at the prismatic light with a derisive smile, “So you want to take this fight to my soul, huh? Bring it on.”
I said to the bird, “I don’t understand… don’t I win? I mean, you gave me a tier 60 soul and his soul doesn’t even reach tier 10. It’s pretty obvious who is going to win this fight.”
The bird shook its head, “No, you lost.”
“What do you mean?” I asked, confused.
“The source of Kyle’s existence and power is not his soul but his shadow. As long as his shadow exists, even if his soul and body were to be reduced to ashes, he can still revive himself. That’s why you asked me to give you the Prime Law of Light so you could counter his Prime Law of Darkness. You thought you could purify him with your Prime Law of Light from the inside and kill him, but you overlooked the shadow outside.” The bird said.
“Then how did I die?” I asked as I felt my heart skipping a beat.
“The moment you entered his soul, since it was his territory, he could use the Dark Contract on you which normally requires physical contact. With the Dark Contract, he gave the order not to use the Prime Law of Light. At that point, you were at his mercy. He swallowed you whole.” The Bird said.

“But I have the Empyrean Decree that comes with the Prime Law of Light. Shouldn’t it override the Dark Contract?” I said.
“Yes.But by the time you realized what was happening and thought of using the Empyrean Decree you were already dead.” The Bird said as our surroundings started becoming blurry.
I found myself sleeping in the garden with a white bird flapping its wings above me.
“Now what?” I asked completely at a loss of what could be done.
The white bird revealed an enigmatic smile and said, “You’ll understand when you wake up in the new place I’ve prepared for you all. Consider it like a long vacation away from everything.”
Before I could ask any more questions, my mind blanked out and I felt myself disappearing from existence.
