《Trending News (According to Narrator)》004 Are You a Penguin Yet?

It’s quiet… Too quiet.
“Yeah, it’s always like this in some parts of RRL.”
But why? It’s not like there’s nobody around. I mean, I’ve seen stories with 2,000+ average views get only five to ten unique commenters for a new chapter. There’s so many people, but very few choose to participate. What I’m wondering is why?
“I guess it’s mostly an issue of demographics. Most people come to RRL to read, not to comment or play games or even try their hand at writing. Maybe they just need some prodding to come out of their shell.”
True, true.
“Maybe you should make this update one about becoming an RRL member and the possible options they have afterwards.”
Huh, I think I’ll do that.
Greetings, dear readers. If you’re just joining us for today-
“Narrator, they’ve reached this far down so they should get the gist of today’s installment. Let’s just move onto the content now. No need to be overly showy with useless antics.”
Way to take the wind out of my sails, j0nn0. It’s not like I actually enjoy making the windup or anything. Nope. Not at all. I’ll just be a dry textbook from now on. I’ll be over there developing my nasally professor voice now. You can continue this one on your own.
“Aww, come on Narrator. Don’t be like that. Here, you can be as showy as you want. Just come back. Please?”
…
“I didn’t want to have to say this out loud, but… You’re the only one that can do this. Please come back.”
Fine. Ahem. Where was I?
“At ‘Greetings dear readers.’”
Thanks.
Greetings, dear readers. If you’re just joining us for today, our topic is on becoming a part of the RRL community. Besides writing a story and commenting, there is a multitude of other things to spend your time on. This includes but is not limited to speaking with peers, seeking help from RRL staff, requesting “shamelessly begging for” feedback, getting help, discussing issues, playing games and contests in addition to sharing art.

…*cough-cough* This is where you play the role of an anon reader, Author.
“Huh? Who-za-what? Oh, one sec. Let me get my gush on.”
…
“OH! How interesting! However could I become a part of this great community?”
I’ll ignore the forced voice in favor of continuing. Anyways, to become an RRL member, all you need to do is create an account. All it takes is an email address and a few minutes to set up. Let me guide you through the process.
Step one, click this registration link.
The page should have a registration agreement. Just read it, click accept and move on. It condenses most if not all the basic forum rules so make sure you know it.

To begin setting up your account, fill in all the relevant information such as username, password, and email. Next is the referrer box. You can place j0nn0 in that box if you’d like, or you could leave that blank. It just means that this or that current RRL member pointed you towards the site. After that, the security question is there simply to block bots and spammers from creating a ton of accounts.
Don’t forget to look through the account preferences and tick the desired boxes. These settings may always be changed later in your account profile, but it’s easier to deal with it now instead of later.
After hitting the “Submit Registration!” button, you should receive a confirmation email with the one you set. Just click it and you’re good to go. Congratulations on making your RRL account.
“But now what can I do with my account?” my producer asks in an exaggerated voice.
Nothing much, other than be a part of the coolest online community in the net! Just go around, be active, and have fun! There’s plenty to do around here and if you ever feel like writing a story, there’s plenty of resources to pull from to make your story a success.
If you’re still an anon and are still here, why haven’t you gone and made an account yet?
“...too much energy, I think.”
Really? It seemed fine to me.
“Eh, you’re the host. Who am I to question how this goes. Well, see you next time audience.”
Bye…
Spoiler: Psst Hey, j0nn0. What are we gonna do about the next installment? I don't know! I'm just making this up as I go along! Why don't you think of an idea for once? Hmmm.... Here's an idea, why don't I beg the readers for ideas? That's so stupid that it... actually, it just might work. Have at it, Narrator! Wish me luck.Readers, you still around?
Good, because I have something to ask of you. Please, please, please comment or something and give my pitiful producer some material to work with. As you can see, this is all all made on the fly with little to no standards so if you want to know about a topic, feel free to ask; it has a good chance of becoming a TNTopic in the future. (Thanks, Balthazar, for the term.)
Spoiler: Derp Land (After-after words)
What’s up with messing with my words, editor? I’m talking about the requests bit, by the way.
“What? I’m guilty of this too. I see no problem with it.”
Fine… I still think it’s more polite to say ‘requesting’, though. Calling it begging makes authors seem needy.
“But we are? I mean, we, as authors, are constantly validating our own work and accomplishments through the acceptance of our online communities and social acceptance.”
Okay, dropping the topic. I have no need of a philosophical Author.
"Not to mention that you also said begging above."
...
Was that overly gushy voice really necessary during the bit?
“Yes.”
...I think I hate you sometimes. It felt so insincere.
“It was. I’m just hamming it up for the fun of things.”
-_-
“Tee-hee.”
Almost forgot. Here, have some music.

Look at the way she's walking!""She's tall too, not the tallest but pretty tall for a girl her age. She must be good if she's with Shiratorizawa.""Hold on, have we seen her somewhere?""Huh? Oh, yeah! She's from Kitagawa Daiichi! What was her name again?""Kazane Kageyama." She grinned, her hand on her hip as her team stood behind her. "Ace Setter of Shiratorizawa."~•~Being Kageyama's sister meant that she knew everything that he knew, but did it better because she wasn't a controlling prick like him. Maybe that's why she got into Shiratorizawa and her brother didn't. It took less than one practice to establish that she was the ace and better setter of the girl's volleyball team, and of course this drew some attention. The boy's team's attention, to be exact. All of the boys were extremely jealous of the new hottie, but she put them in their places. Commanding respect anywhere she went, the queen of the court, ace on the front line and setter on back line, caught the eye of almost every other school in the country after her debut. Conquest Of Mortem
*NOTE* This novel is a war of attrition. To say anything less is a disservice to its demand. While comparable to other such works as Ulysses or Moby Dick, each sentence in Conquest is an enemy to be tackled. Not in the ways of difficulty but in absurd density that wishes nothing more than to destroy what patience you may have. Do not tackle chapters as you would ordinary chapters in an ordinary book. Tackle each chapter as a book unto itself. A foe to be vanquished, a period of life to leave behind. Seek to be master of this work. Seek to overcome. For in its design is the willpower, and the perseverance, and the strength of someone who sought meaning in struggle. As I discovered these in times of ultimate desperation, so I hope for you to discover these things. This novel is a love letter to your trials. May you overcome them. May you master them. May you become conquerer.- SeedSagaA literary epic for logophiles, philosophers, and poets alike. A journey into zeitgeist, the impact of media on culture, and the endurance of morality against an onslaught of hatred. These vague descriptions do little to compact Conquest's density into a bite-size summary. They do however relate the basest themes found within. A plot, if such can be surmised, is strung thinly across multiple perspectives, weaving together these concepts into a seemingly distorted tapestry of indecipherable events. Inspired by early 20th century modernism, Conquest will challenge the reader, and provide critique on the medium upon which all great stories are derived. Further interpretation is up to you now; an explorer among a sea of words. Venture on and discover what lies ahead, in...CONQUEST OF MORTEM
