《Musica》The guitar and carpenter

While traveling I learned that I'm in the Azroal Continent which is the only continent in this world.

The technology of the world is the same as my previous worlds 17th century Europe. So it's quite good if you ask me. Guns were now spreading as a weapon for warfare but due to the low supply of black powder knights are still around.

I told everything about myself to my master. On how I came from the other world, where there are cars, cellphones, planes. Which led him to think that I'm a nut job.

Why is it that when people speak honestly they are taken for a madman?

Because of that I was asked to leave... He left me some money, food and cloths before leaving me though.

When I looked inside the pouch there was 10 republican silver coins, 1 gold republican coin, and 100 republican copper coins.

It was quite a lot for my understanding. Because if you convert 1 gold coin its equivalent to a 100 US dollars, every silver is also equivalent to 10 US dollars while 1 copper is equivalent to a dollar.

From the information he had left me the worlds currency is segregated by their country and type. The republic being the highest valued coins.

The type is further segregated to Gold, Silver, Copper, and iron.

So I have some money right now to spend. Luckily I was near a small village perhaps I can stay here for awhile.

When I entered the village it was pretty peaceful. Children run here and there, you can see some mothers doing laundry, some merchants screaming their wares, and some adult males doing labor work.

Some children came to me and one of them asked "Mister why is your hair black?" before I can even answer one of the mothers came and said " Shush! Why are you asking such personal things to an unknown man! Go scram right now!" The children ran away out of fear of the womans anger.

"Sorry for the trouble young man, so what made you cone to our village?" She asked. "Well I'm quite lost and it just so happens that I stumbled upon your village" I answered.

Before she could even respond one of the men carrying some huge log came by. "Honey who is this?" The logger man said. "Well he's just a traveler who has gotten lost darling no need to be wary" the wife responded. The man was quite tanned when I looked at him, quite tall and has a proper bodybuild.

"Forgive me for forgetting in introducing myself, I'm Chun Mo by the way" "Chun Mo? What a perculiar name" the husband said. "My first name is Mo and surnamed Chun" I clarified to them. "Well nice to meet you young man, I'm Liza Fader and this is my husband Horace Fader a simple carpenter, and im just a simple housewife by the way" she responded.

"Oh! A carpenter? Then can I order something friend?" I requested Horace. I'm quite lucky that I met a carpenter here cause I need some guitars made badly."Well it depends on the request though" Horace responded. "Then I'll leave you boys with your business chat cause I still need to dry some cloths" Liza interrupted. "Well thanks for the company miss Liza" i said to her while seeing her off.

When she left I accompanied him to his workshop. While going there I ask him hows the life here and how's his family life.

According to him life here is quite peaceful, he and his wife have an amiable relationship. Their neighbors are kind and that everything is simple here.

But surprisingly according to him there is something missing he just doesn't know what.

We arrived at his workshop and when I entered what greeted me was the scent of wood and the scene where logs lie here and there.

Some woodcarving was displayed at a table. When we went inside he offered me some stool to sit upon.

"Okay mr. Chun what do you want me to make?" He asked."Can i request you to make a guitar please?" When he heard my order he was quite lost then said "What's a guitar?"

Oh I remember that music is nonexistent here so of course instruments are unknown here. And so to dispel his confusion I requested some paper to draw the blueprint of a guitar.

I also found out that some steel strings is available being sold by merchants albeit expensive. When Horace saw the blueprint he was quite amazed.

At first he was amazed at my drawing and secondly on how detailed my drawing is. Thankfully this world knows the international metric system so it wasn't quite hard to specify the requirements of the guitar.

When he asked what the tool is for I just told him its a secret until the day that it's finished.

The request costed me a total of 25 copper coins including the steels string of course which is quite expensive.

The first and most important step in guitar construction is wood selection. The choice of wood will directly affect the sound quality of the finished product. The wood must be free of flaws and have a straight, vertical grain. Since each section of the guitar uses different types of woods, the construction process varies from section to section. Following is a description of the manufacture of a typical acoustic guitar. And to prevent mishaps I accompanied him while making the guitar. I thought him the process of making it from bookmatching to tuning.

And finally after 10 days the simple guitar was finished and when I went to the village center Horace and His wife followed me to see what the function if the thing that I requested to be made.

In front of the carpenter and his wife I played Bach's Bourrée in E Minor.

The Bourrée in E Minor by Bach is one of those cliché pieces that is always associated with classical guitar. It is a fun and energetic dance from the Baroque era. And so when the first notes of the song came into being in this world. Children came in droves when they heard the music.

The grass was swaying as if dancing to the tune and most of all the entire village was put into a trance. For a few minutes they experience the bliss of music further lighting the their already peaceful life.

The happy and gleeful tune of the music led to the kids playing around while the parents listened to the wonderful notes.

"What is this feeling? Why is the simple act of listening to this sound somehow fulfills me" Liza said. "Yeah, why is it listening to this sound makes me fulfilled. Liza are you happy listening to this 'music?'" He inquired to his wife.

"Yes Horace I feel happy listening to this music" she responded. "Then I promise you I'll learn how to play this instrument to make you happy. I hope mr. Chun does not mind though" he responded leading to the couples to have a good laugh.
