《Birth of an AntiHero》Chapter 103 – Move, Ian.

Cass: “Hey, what’s going on?”
Frieda: “Hey, Hey! What are you guys doing, what’s happening?? [Psst, Saphira do you suppose we should go back to our groups..?]”
Saphirita: “yeah, what are the two of you doing over there? Please tell me! Why are you stopping her, little boy? And - and where is she going?? [Not yet! This is too juicy! If we leave now, we might miss something fun!]
...And I am NOT Saphira. It’s SaphirITA.”
Frieda: “...How about Saphy?”
Saphy: “N---That works.”
Cass: “Girls...”
Ophelia: “Ian. Please move. I don’t want to hurt you by accident when I run.”
Li Shun: “Wait – run? Where – where do you think you’re going?!”
Ian: “Ophelia, what if Mr. Abrams is WATCHING us?? Ever stop to think that he’d be focused on worrying for your safety? And if he happens to be fighting a villain ... isn’t – isn’t that, really, really bad?”
Ophelia: “...I..”
Elijah: “Ophelia it’s DANGEROUS out there! Even if you’re as strong – or maybe even STRONGER than Harvey, it doesn’t mean you should wander around needlessly. You never know when someone will catch you unaware. Should that happen...well, haha, look at me. I’m a very good example of how a hero-in-training can be bested while unguarded, or unaware.”
Brennan: “Maybe...maybe she only wants to take a small jog around the clearing? I say she should do what she wants. It’s – it’s only a small jog!”
Alyandrea: “What’s going on here?”
Leos: “...(Am I safe? Am I still going to be asked to explain?)”
Oliviera: “What – What – What? Where are you trying to go??”
Ophelia: “...Move. Ian, please.”
Ian: “No! I will not, for your safety, AND for my own!”
Ophelia: “Why? Why are you stopping me? My business shouldn’t concern you one bit.”
Ian: “But it DOES~! I am the OLDEST here! Even if that isn’t taken seriously by you lot, I still can’t stand by and watch you actually TRY to engage villains in bare-handed combat!
...I mean, we don’t KNOW if there are any villains, but still!”
Ophelia: “You WILL stand by, Ian. You have no choice. That’s because nobody here can stop me.”
Ian: “Well, I may not be able to stop you. That’s true. But MR. ABRAMS can! Did you even HEAR what I said just now?? If there’s danger where Noel is, Mr. Abrams is most likely trying his utmost to handle it. YOU crashing the party will just ruin his day, and possibly DISTRACT him!! What if you do just that, and then Mr. Abrams gets hurt by the villain? What if after winding up injured, he fails to protect Noel...who gets targeted at the wrong moment and dies??

You’d never know!
You would absolutely never know! You’ll be FAR too busy never making it there, and finally just lead them into disaster.”
Ophelia: “...I heard what you said, and I’m not trying to cause Mr. Abrams trouble. Not at all! But… but Noel might need help…! And there’s no TELLING if villains are truly there or not. I’m just going to check.”
Ian: “If villains are there, then you’ll just end up DISTRACTING the teacher! If they AREN’T there, then there’s no need for you to go! So stay here and wait for them to come back!”
Alyandrea: “...Huh? What are you two arguing about?”
Brennan: “...I am just gonna take a guess and say that Ophelia didn’t want to simply jog around the small clearing we’re in.”
Wayne: “From what I gather of their conversation...it appears that Ophelia wants to ‘leave’ in order to find Noel and check if he needs any help or rescuing. Contrasting her opinion, very strongly, I might add, is Ian. He doesn’t seem to want Ophelia to look for, and find Noel inside this forest. Whether that reasoning could be based on a logical deduction, or irrational selfishness – I do not know. On one hand – it truly does sound like he has a point, regarding Ophelia disturbing Mr. Abrams who MIGHT be engaged in some heated battle right about now. But...on the OTHER hand…
This whole entire fight between them could just very well be Ian’s way of declaring his uneasiness at Ophelia abandoning our little ‘group’ here. Should she do that...We’d all be defenseless in case another villain comes strolling by us. He COULD be saying ‘Hey! Don’t even think about it! I need protection!’ or something along those lines right about now. What do you all think?”
Li Shun: “I...abstain from commenting. I don’t wanna get pummeled. A pummeling from Ophelia would hurt. BADLY.”
Brennan: “I also, shall refrain from commenting. Thinking is nice, but the best thing to do is give the two free reign to choose their own actions. If we get involved, things could escalate into an argument a LOT worse than the one she and Ian are engaged in at this very moment. I don’t wanna get involved OR become a target of hers by trying to stop her.”
Elijah: “As I said, Ophelia, please reconsider! You shouldn’t go out there. For one: you don’t know the way! NOR do you know the way back! Two: There MIGHT be villains! If there is – Mr. Abrams will have to protect you! That is NOT a good thing. It means that you’ve made yourself into his cripple. Mr. Abrams has officially left, but you don’t really want to drag him down, do you Ophelia? Worrying about Noel is fine, we ALL are worried. But acting rash is definitely NOT the answer! Please listen to Ian – PLEASE reconsider!”

Ophelia: “...I...I guess I could--”
Oliviera: “AAAH! You actually want to go BACK there?! Are you OUT of your mind?!”
Ian: “!! Haah. Don’t scare me like that!”
Brennan: “Waah! What – What?? What’s going on?”
Li Shun: “Is...is it another…? Another villain? Have they returned??”
Alyandrea: “This...This time, I’m READY! I WON’T die so quickly! I … I won’t! Also, we still have teachers behind the trees close to Elijah snd those three girls. I think we’re perfectly safe! So... bring ‘em on!”
Ophelia: “...What do you mean, Oliviera?”
Ian: “Did something happen back there?”
Oliviera: “OBVIOUSLY! Why else, would Leos and I be trying our BEST to get away from that place?!?!”
Ian: “...One: We have no idea about what happened to you both, since you won’t tell us. So saying ‘obviously’ doesn’t make sense. And as for two: was there a villain?!”
Oliviera: “...Maybe.”
Li Shun: “…”
Wayne: “How annoying.”
Alyandrea: “If you aren’t going to say anything then just stay quiet! It’s annoying to get our hopes up for nothing!”
Leos: “Ugh. Fine, fine! The TRUTH is that Oliviera and I were together with Noel when a man attacked us – namely me. We were only saved at the last moment thanks to Rise engaging the enemy in battle.”
Elijah: “Rise?! He actually fought with the villain??”
Wayne: “Is he plain stupid? He should have taken you all and escaped.”
Leos: “Nonsense. The man attacked us with superspeed. How can ordinary folk like the two of us stand up to that? We can’t ever hope of out speeding somebody as fast as that!”
Wayne: “Oh...I see.”
Ophelia: “Leos what about Noel – is he alright?!”
Ian: “...Yeah. Where does HE play into all of this. You didn’t perhaps leave him behind to make your escape attempt that much easier, did you? You JUST said that the attacker was really fast. We don’t really know each other that well. I can perfectly see this as an opportunity to survive...until that villain catches up and killd you both. Does that mean that Rise is dead as well?”
Leos: “No, stop assuming things! First of all, we, or I would NEVER abandon somebody to die. I don’t think about such things, as you apparently do, Ian.”
Ian: “…”
Leos: “Ophelia. All I remember is Rise saving us by engaging with the man. He could control metal knives to attack everybody at the same time. I...got injured after he kept targeting me and it was thanks to Noel that I survived(As much as I hate to admit it). The bra---er, *Cough* *Cough* AHEM! He told Oliviera to carry me towards wherever we see the school again. And he made SURE to warn that girl not to talk to adults because they could potentially be villains in disguise. I couldn’t hear what happened after he said Mr. Abrams was probably safe to search out.”
Wayne: “So...They STAYED behind? WILLINGLY?”
Alyandrea: “I have a hard time believing that as well. I ain’t too sure you can be trusted. Since you both died, then that means those two didn’t actually hold him off for long. At least that’s what it sounds like. Because he quickly caught up.”
Elijah: “Maybe they just WANTED to stall the villain for the other two, since they felt they all four couldn’t outrun their foe. Especially with Leos being injured by the man’s knives.”
Oliviera: “Um...I think you all are missing an important point.”
Ian: “This better be good.”
Alyandrea: “Ignore him, Oliviera. Ignore him and talk. What don’t we already know that Leos forgot to mention?”
Leos: “I did NOT forget to mention anything. I just didn’t REACH that point in my memories!”
Alyandrea: “Really now, it don’t matter if you FORGOT to mention it or just DIDN’T mention it. What is it you want to say to us?
Ophelia: “...Speak Oliviera.”
Oliviera: “Well. I just wanted to point out, that man that killed Leos and me(maybe, I still don’t think I died though) Was NOT the same man as the one Rise and Noel were stalling to buy us time for our escape. And furthermore...He was most likely heading to their location after what he did to us.”

The Harrowbird's Crown
(Formerly: Tales of a Harrowed House) Synopsis: This is the tale of an exiled royal family who, after their bloody reunion on the island of Providence, return to a war-torn homeland where once more, powerful forces pit sibling against sibling in a bid for the crown — and once more, the magical streets of Auctor echo their infamous motto: “Fire will Reign as Harrowbirds Soar!” From his humble beginnings as a shoemaker’s son, his year spent as a daringly brazen orphan caught between rivaling Houses and a mad ghost, and his fight for the crown after his return to Auctor, Corbyn faces a coming-of-age story unlike any before him as he discovers magic and birthright are two things he never knew he had. From the intimate narrative of a childhood that was never her own, her year spent struggling to find the person she is rather than the person her family needs her to be, the secrets she hides, and the truths she finds, Halle discovers herself on the fabled island of Providence as her House collapses around her, bids to enter a legendary school of magic in her homeland of Auctor, and fights for a crown she never knew she wanted. A high-action, character-focused story written with a poet’s styling, The Harrowbird’s Crown is a tale that will transport readers into the conflict and conquest of a royal family back on the rise. General Information: This story is more traditionally plotted. While the beginning may seem to start out slowly, when shit hits the fan: the action is constant, the mysteries are satisfying, and the character development is rewarding. Chapters are usually between 2.5-3.5 thousand words (though some, like the first and second chapters, can run up to 5k words). When it’s long it means that the chapter will just have that much content in it. There’s Action, Mystery, Fantasy, Comedy, and some Psychological undertakings. Romance hasn’t come up yet, but it may in future chapters. I try to have chapters out every Sunday at 7:00 CST Book One: The Ghost of Providence
